Pembrokeshire, in modern times,
is known for its stunning coastline, sandy beaches and bustling
seaside villages. Long before, the County was known as Penfro
or Lands End which boasted the second largest natural harbour
in the world, Milford Haven. From this vast expanse of water
at the south west tip of our County the Estuary narrows and
two beautiful rivers meander through the countryside to join
the sea many miles further on.
The Cleddau rivers known by many as the secret waterway, now
offer a completely different holiday to people who really
want something special. Although never more than a short drive
from the famous beaches and coves, the sheer natural beauty
of the east and west Cleddaus with their amazing wildlife
and excellent fishing now give you the opportunity of a new
holiday experience. All the properties in this section have
been selected because of their proximity to the river, in
fact several of these lovely cottages and homes have gardens
whose boundary is the river itself!

The northern shoreline runs from aptly named Sandy Haven right
up to the County town of Haverfordwest some twenty miles distance.
The modern marina, a current Blue Flag holder, at Brunel Quay
- Neyland, with its elegant town houses is a popular sailing
base as it nestles in a high sided valley with curlew, cormorants,
herons and kingfishers as neighbours. From here the river
quietens and lovely hamlets such as Llangwm sit on the river
bank surrounded by lush woodlands from where you can gaze
up at the unexpected site of towering Benton Castle.
Never will you have seen so many contrasts in one area. The
beautiful bow fronted Picton castle will give you views up
and down river which will often include a rare wader paddling
in the shallows or even a young seal whose curiosity got the
better of him and who travelled up stream. The locals will
delight in welcoming you and sharing with you the amazing
history and quiet hideaways that follow this intriguing river.
