Month: January 2010

Here in the office we were all thrilled to receive a visit from Emma and her beautiful baby Tommy yesterday, who cut a dash in his tiger suit and clearly enjoyed having all of the ladies here cooing and clucking over him! We’re all busy making plans for the approaching Valentines Day and half term. Sue has spotted some delicious looking heart-themed treats in Lollies traditional sweet shop in Tenby (hint hint.) Sadie is off on a romantic break for two at Abermawr (will he or won’t he? We can’t help but wonder here in the office!) Jan is planning […]

Yesterday was a gorgeous day in Pembrokeshire. The sun was shining the sky was a blanket of blue and it was wonderfully mild. Wanting to make the most of the day, I cycled to Jed to take him out for an hour or two. If Carew Mill has no water when I pass, it means that the tide is in when I get to Cosheston and head down onto the Cleddau Estuary. This was the case yesterday, so off we went. I managed to take a few great pictures: Once a poser always a poser!

We have thawed out a bit here at last – I have been enjoying walking my puppy on the beach now that she is less likely to catch a chill on her bald tummy, followed by the best hot chocolate to be had at Newgale in the Sands cafe. Sadie meanwhile would recommend The Moon and Sixpence in Haverfordwest for a sweet treat to warm up and she is also busy making plans for the Welsh Valentine’s Day, St Dwynwen’s Day, coming up on 25th January. There certainly seems to be something in the air as three of my friends […]

Snow. I think it’s probably the topic of pretty much everyone’s conversation at the moment isn’t it, it’s all about the white stuff. Pembrokeshire was host to a fair blanket… Jed absolutely loves the snow. For a V.I.P (very important pet) that’s getting on a little you would never think that he was a day over 5. His Spaniel eagerness and Collie energy create a cracking, youthful mix. His black, white and spotty outfit looks even prettier against a snowy white back drop. I love to walk and naturally Jed does too, which of course doesn’t change when it snows. […]

Most parents can probably remember themselves playing in the snow with a sled, making huge snowballs and building the best snowmen ever, using a carrot from there mum’s fridge as the snowman’s nose, stones as buttons, twigs for the arms and grabbing a hat and scarf to finish. But sledding is one of the most fun wintertime activities a child can do and is great fun for all the family. Fresh snow brings out the kid in all of us. The mountains and hills and beaches provide plenty of awesome terrain for fans of sledding, tubing, and tobogganing. There are […]

Happy New Year to you all! After welcoming in the new year in style, 2010 has got off to a chilly start, even here in usually mild Pembrokeshire. Surprisingly there were still takers for various new years day swims around the county – an ideal way to cure the after effects of New Years Eve but I wasn’t brave enough! Despite the freezing temperatures the scenery is beautiful – clear skies and white fields as far as the eye can see leading to the snow-dusted Preseli Mountains. My colleagues have been out and about visiting cottages – see the photo […]
