Fantastic Fireworks this Autumn in Pembrokeshire

And as soon as Halloween passes a new dawn arrives in the red hot form of Bonfire Night. Bonfire Night is one of my favourites, though to be honest I am always looking for any reason to celebrate in style! There are a number of displays taking place throughout Pembrokeshire this year, with a few the weekend before and on the 5th November itself. Take a look through the following displays to see which is the best venue for you. The Rotary Club of Tenby present their popular display on Friday 1st November this year, held at Tenby United Rugby […]

Halloween fun is rife throughout Pembrokeshire this year, with so many frights, parties and trails for all the family to enjoy. Scolton Manor has become one of my many favourite places to visit and so I was delighted to discover that they are having plenty of October Half Term fun from 26th – 31st October with pumpkin trails in the parkland and woods, quizzes at the Manor House and plenty of craft fun for the children. Their Fright Night is taking place on Halloween itself, Thursday 31st October from 6pm, with Spooktacular Storytelling, games, crafts, trail and the tearoom is […]

The National Botanic Garden of Wales is a welcoming wonder for families to visit during their holiday with us. Regularly keeping us updated with their seasonal events throughout the year, they are yet to disappoint and they are hugely successful at showcasing the very best of their timeless attraction time and time again. Between Monday 23rd October and Friday 1st November (half term holiday) there will be family friendly activities taking place for all to enjoy, following a seasonal autumnal theme. Saturday 26th October brings many delights with their Family Fun Day, activities such as games and dance activities, stories, […]

A Delight in Deri

Yesterday, I visited Cwm Deri Vineyard in Martletwy. Although on this occasion unaccompanied by the family, I will be booking a table for us all to enjoy Sunday Lunch there very soon. My little one will definitely enjoy Pet’s Corner, watching the chickens, turkeys, sheep and miniature ponies bring life to the landscape. As soon as you have parked the car, Cwm Deri gives you an immediate feeling of the sublime, the tranquil and the stunning. Surrounded by the rolling countryside and with a beautifully blue Autumn sky as it’s backdrop, you feel as fresh and as free as the […]

A sight to see! Bosherston Lily Ponds

A sight to see in South Pembrokeshire are the Lily Ponds which lead you to Broad Haven South beach, that both rest shyly in Bosherston awaiting your discovery. If your dog loves woods, trails, bridges and the beach this walk offers all this and more! It has been a little while since our family took a trip to Bosherston, but I have no doubt that now the hustle and bustle of the peak season has drifted away that the stunning walk around the Lily Ponds is still as sublime as ever and the golden beach with the imposing Church Rock […]

Cute Coverage for Doves Cottage

Last Thursday, The One Show ran a feature about ‘The Blow Hole’ at Abercastle. An underwater cave familiarly known as The Blow Hole, is located through an underwater cave to the right as you leave the bay. This spectacle can be quite dramatic when the sea is raving and it is an amazing sight when you see the water pouring out of the top. This feature by The One Show was extra special as it showed the sought after Doves Cottage which is a holiday property available to let through ourselves. Doves Cottage looks as stunning as ever and I […]

A Day at Scolton Manor

Although I have heard great things about Scolton Manor, until today I had never visited. I can 100% say that now I have been and experienced the fantastic grounds that Scolton Manor inhabits we will be going time and time again. A fantastic day out for all the family, including the dog. It was only £1 to park all day and we spent a good few hours with both the little one and Flynn (the dog) walking around the enormous grassed field, then the woodland trails which have been creatively designed with games, benches and factual information to help all […]

Lucky Me..

“A very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped cottage.  We’ve loved peaceful evenings round the fire, listening out for the owl.  From the very first astonishingly beautiful sunset, we’ve been gobsmacked by Pembrokeshire.  The coast path is breathtaking.  We surfed and bodyboarded at Whitesands and Abereiddy, had a snorkel round the Blue Lagoon (Abereiddy), biked along the cycle route up to Pwll Deri, scrambled up Garn Fawr and kayaked round the fascinating rock formations along the coast in both directions from Solva.  To fuel all this, aside from Joe’s Ice Cream and Welshcakes, we had a smashing brunch at The Mill in […]

Carew Castle and Tidal Mill

Not far from home we are very lucky to have the circular walk around Carew Castle and Tidal Mill right on our doorstep. It seems to look completely different each day that we walk around. It is such a friendly place to walk and it is fairly level for pushing the buggy too. We tend to walk first thing in the morning otherwise I get daggers throughout the day from Flynn. It is great that we see familiar faces each day we take our walk around the Castle, everyone so pleased to be out and about walking in such pleasant […]

Plenty of Parks Continued…

I have been overwhelmed with the response I have received from colleagues within our Coastal Cottages office about their favourite parks and play areas, that I am posting another entry as I have more to share! Tenby has a play area nestled into the hilltop overlooking South Beach, it has the most phenomenal views! They have recently renewed the apparatus and they have also added a skating area which has proven to be very popular. The park at Milford Haven is good as it has areas for different age groups. Broad Haven has another good park for younger children, offering […]
