Pembrokeshire’s Hidden Waterway: The Cleddau Estuary

With three edges of the county, Pembrokeshire is often fondly remembered for its spectacular coastline and beautiful beaches. With 186 miles of coastal path, over 50 beaches and coves, and a handful of interesting islands off the shores, there is certainly a lot to explore along the coast. That being said, it’s important not to overlook the rest of our county. After all, some of our most magnificent attractions are within the county’s rolling countryside. Pentre Ifan in the north is the alleged site of the original Stonehenge bluestones and driving across the Preseli hills between Haverfordwest and Cardigan is […]

Where to stay in Marloes

If you read our last blog post then a holiday in Marloes might just have taken your fancy. If that’s the case, here’s a pick of cottages that provide a fantastic base for a holiday in this lovely village! Tucked away in the heart of the village, Carpenters Cottage is a delightful traditional detached stone cottage that is deceptively spacious. It has been in the same family for years and so has been lovingly renovated. The living room  has beautiful exposed stone work and is furnished with a wonderful mix of contemporary and antique pieces. A sunny paved terrace and garden […]

Gardens of Pembrokeshire

When you think Pembrokeshire, what is it that you picture? Is it a beautiful beach like Barafundle or Whitesands? Stunning sea views from the coast path? Fish and chips eaten on a harbour wall? Or is it a wonderful garden filled with flowers, trickling streams and ponds and perhaps surrounded by woodland? If the latter didn’t spring to mind, you could be missing out. As tempting as it is to spend your week in Pembrokeshire sunning yourself on the beach, the county’s warm and (occasionally) wet climate as well as its fertile soils mean that it is home to several gorgeous […]

Get away from it all at Forest View Cottages

Nestled at the base of a wooded valley on the edge of the Brechfa Forest in Carmarthenshire is this cluster of five holiday cottages. Set away from it all in 35 acres of grounds including a 3 acre horseshoe shaped lake, it is a slice of countryside paradise yet the market town of Carmarthen is only a 10 minute drive away should you tire of the greenery! The lake in particular is the perfect picnic spot particularly for bird watchers as kites and buzzards soar overhead, while swans and geese regularly nest on the lake. It’s not just the grounds themselves that make this a great […]

Pig Beach comes to Pembrokeshire!

You may have heard about pigs flying, but what about swimming? A Pembrokeshire beach is set to be home to a group of pigs that need re-homing from a local farm! There are currently two sows living on the beach and from April 1st the rest of the group will gradually be introduced to their new habitat where fresh water sources and shelters have been installed. We’re not allowed to reveal the location of the beach, as it’s important to keep human disturbance to a minimum while the pigs get used to their new home, but the hope is they’ll be […]
