Mother’s Day – The Coastal Way.

A very Happy Mother’s day to all the super Mums out there!

Mother’s Day is the one day of the year we dedicate to that special person that has cut many crusts off sandwiches, tidied messy bedrooms, listened to worries and can solve anything with a great cup of tea. Whether this Mother figure is in fact your Dad, an Auntie, Nan or Sister, these brilliant people who play an important role in our lives deserve a lot of loving this Mother’s Day!

While lots of Mum’s all over the world today would have been spoilt with breakfast in bed, flowers, drawings, and their favourite chocolates, I’m sure most Mum’s will agree that one of their favourite things about Mother’s Day is the quality time they get to spend with their children.

We’ve put together a quick inspiration list of how you could spend quality time with Mum this Mother’s Day, The Coastal Way .

1 . Wrap up warm and walk along a beautiful Pembrokeshire beach.

Take in the fresh air, bring the dog and head down to Pembrokeshire’s sandy shores with Mum. With no technology or distractions, enjoy a leisurely stroll while taking in the fresh sea air and laughing about old summer beach memories.  Warm up after in a cwtched coastal café and enjoy a coffee and slice of cake. Some of our favourite spots to do this include Broad Haven beach and then head to the Ocean café (be sure to try their white hot chocolate with marshmallows) or Whitesands, and retreat to The Whitesands Beach Café afterwards.

  1. Treat Mum to a Mother’s day lunch with a Coastal view.

In Pembrokeshire you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a pub with great food and a coastal view! From traditional pub grub to fine dining or afternoon tea, you’ll be sure to find your Mums favourite dish here in Pembrokeshire. Some all-time favourites include Coast Restaurant that overlooks Saundersfoot beautiful coastline, The Castle in Little Haven for fab pub grub (and dog friendly), or Foam in Milford Haven for the most delicious afternoon tea while sitting as close to the water as you could possibly get!

  1. Take a flower work shop with Mum.

It’s no secret that Pembrokeshire boasts it’s beautiful nature and wildlife that includes the prettiest flowers. Instead of buying Mum another bunch of flowers from the supermarket, why not make this Mother’s day extra special and enjoy making your very own bespoke bouquet of flowers together! Take a look at Elsa’s flowers workshops for more information.

  1. Bake a cake together.

Sometimes we forget how enjoyable the simple things can be together. Going back to the basics of baking a delicious cake for all the family is a great way to spend that all important quality time with Mum. Alternatively, if your family is up for a bit of healthy competition – why not make it a bake off! I’m sure Mum wouldn’t mind standing in for Mary Berry on this occasion!

  1. Cosy up and play board games in a Coastal Cottage

It’s safe to say the Pembrokeshire weather isn’t always on our side. If Mother’s Day does happen to be a bit gloomy this year, why not spend the day in a cosy Coastal Cottage watching the waves crash in against the shore and playing board games with the family; no board games? Charades is a great alternative that will be sure to get everyone in tears of laughter! If you’re spending Mother’s day in a family home, why not dig out any old family videos to have a giggle at and relive those childhood memories.
