Halloween Events in Pembrokeshire 2018

If you’re spending Halloween in Pembrokeshire, why not take the family out to one of the fantastical spooky events happening across the county?

One of autumn’s most popular events in Pembrokeshire, the Big Bang Weekend in Saundersfoot, is back once again! Taking place on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th October, this weekend is a real family friendly affair with activities and more happening throughout the day. The Big Bang Weekend merges together Halloween festivities with Bonfire Night celebrations; there will be a trick or treat trail, pumpkin carving, a fancy dress competition and two separate fireworks displays on the Saturday evening. There will also be arts and crafts, refreshments and a funfair – plenty to keep the whole family entertained!

The National Botanic Gardens is celebrating Halloween with an Outdoors Cinema Spooktacular on Saturday 27th. They will be screening the 1984 Halloween classic, Ghostbusters, starring the likes of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis. Sit back and enjoy a great film in the wonderful surroundings of the garden where there will also be music to help set the spooky scene. Refreshments will include a BBQ and bar along with typical treats such as toffee apples and popcorn. Don’t forget to come donned in our best costumes as prizes will be on offer for the best dressed! The event starts at 5.30pm and the film will begin at 7pm. Pre-book your tickets here.

Head to Gwili Steam Railway near Carmarthen on Wednesday 31st October and take a ride onboard the Halloween Ghost Express! From 11am, the railway will be offering ghostly rides on their impressive steam train with plenty of family friendly activities. Break out the face paints and scary costumes for a chance to win a prize for best costume. See their website to book tickets.

Maybe you fancy spending Halloween at a hauntingly fun disco, or even two?! Venture to The Yard near Solva on Friday 26th where you can dance along to an 80s Disco and enjoy tasty snacks from their horse box bar courtesy of Y Gegin Fach. Best dressed will win a £50 voucher for St Davids Kitchen, tickets cost £5 and this is a cash only event. Then on Saturday 27th, spend the evening in the north of the county at Pizza Tipi in Cardigan for their Halloween Parti Spooky! Indulge in great food and delicious pizzas before partying the night away with live music and a disco.

For the little ones, spend the day at Treginnis Farm for City Children on the 27th and take part in their ever-popular Pumpkin Patch Day! Participate in games, listen to storytelling, visit the animals and pick a pumpkin! This event runs from 10am until 4pm, refreshments will be available.

Alternatively if Halloween isn’t quite your thing, why not get involved in one of Fishguard’s best loved events – The Cawl Crawl Challenge? An annual event arranged by The Fishguard & District Round Table, this event consists of “crawling” to various venues throughout Fishguard and Goodwick for a tasting of cawl at each. Between 11am and 3pm, you can sample bowls of homemade cawl before casting your vote for your favourite.
