Where to stay in Amroth

As a follow up to our last blog about how fantastic Amroth is as a holiday destination, here are a pick of properties in Amroth that provide the perfect base for a break, whether it’s a family holiday or a couple’s retreat. For a family, Capel Swn Y Mor was recently included in The Times’ 50 Best Cottages in Britain, and will not disappoint. Meaning ‘Chapel by the Sea,’ this stunning conversion of a Victorian chapel is set right on the seafront with the beach across the road and incredible views over Carmarthen Bay. It has been restored in such […]

Why Amroth?

Amroth is a small village perched on a half mile long stretch of beach, at the start (or end!) of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. With its traditional sea side shops, cafes and pubs it is a busy village that is a brilliant destination whatever your needs. The access to the coast path is perfect for walking couples or singles, while families can spend days playing on the beach. Saundersfoot is a 3 mile coast path walk away, or along the beach at low tide with Tenby a bit further along the coast, meaning that there’s plenty to entertain on cooler […]

Happy Days!

It’s International Day of Happiness today (on a Monday, make of that what you will!) To enter into the spirit of things, we asked the Coastal team what about living in Pembrokeshire makes them happy. From beach days, to bike rides to food, their answers got me so excited for spring! Ruby – ‘Knowing that when I get on my bike, within 25/30 minutes I’m at a beach. There is no better feeling than cycling through Pembrokeshire lanes with fresh country air. Also summer evenings spent BBQ’ing with friends. Sitting listening to the waves. Pembrokeshire in the sun. I could go […]

Dog-Friendly Holiday Cottages

It’s often really difficult to find decent holiday accommodation that not only ‘accepts’ dogs, but actively welcomes them. That’s why we created The Woof Guide, where you can find great dog-friendly accommodation that’s rated according to a unique Paw Rating System that tells you whether it’s best for your dog. Here’s a selection of properties from The Woof Guide that are the perfect base for a holiday your dog would choose. Tucking Cottage in Spittal is a lovely characterful stone cottage that sleeps 2 people with room for 1 dog, and so is perfect for a cosy break. Set within […]

Legendary Places to Visit with your Dog

As you may have heard, this year is Wales’ Year of Legends, celebrating the country’s rich history both real and mythical told through tales passed from person to person. Here’s a few legendary historical sites that are perfect to go with your dog on a holiday to Pembrokeshire. Cilgerran Castle Located near Cardigan, Cilgerran Castle is in a stunning location overlooking the Teifi with two massive round towers still standing today. This was first established by the Normans as a ringwork castle and is approximately 800 years old. Dogs must be kept on leads, but are welcome here. With a […]

Where to Stay in St Davids

The daffodils are out, spring is in sight and St David’s Day is just around the corner. Now is the time to start planning your visit to the beautiful city that is St Davids. Following up to our guide to All Things St Davids earlier this week, here are some of our picks of cottages to base yourself for your break. Penlan Farmhouse and Penlan Cottage are a pair of semi-detached stone cottages set down a lane on a farm just on the outskirts of St Davids. They have been restored and renovated in such a way that they retain […]

All Things St Davids

St David’s Day means many things in Pembrokeshire. It means kids dressing up, the girls as traditional Welsh women (or ‘flower pot ladies’ as I used to call them as a child, due to the strange hat. Google it and you’ll see why) and boys with flat caps and tank tops. It means cawl served at every pub, more often than not made by the landlady herself. And it means pinning a leek or a daffodil to your chest, or a more recent phenomenon is wearing a daffodil headpiece so you resemble a sort of Celtic Teletubbies sun. These traditions are […]

Why you’ll love Llanunwas

Nestled at the top of Solva is Llanunwas, a large Georgian house which was once part of a country estate dating back over 400 years standing in glorious isolation on the cliffs in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. In more recent years it has become home to seven individual 5 star apartments and two cottages which provide a perfect base for a Pembrokeshire break, whatever your needs. Only 400 yards from the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast Path, they are ideally placed for walking this stretch of coastline. Follow it round to Caerfai Bay and further on to the tiny Cathedral city […]

Random Acts of Kindness The Coastal Way

We’ve loved getting involved in Random Acts of Kindness Week this week. It’s the perfect excuse to give a bit back to our guests, the community and of course Pembrokeshire. Lots of ideas were batted around, and we finally settled on three ways to show our appreciation. We started with a beach clean on Newgale beach on Tuesday. We set off with our gloves, bin bags and litter pickers feeling enthusiastic and full of the joys of kindness. We arrived, wrapped up, walked to the top of the pebbles and were met with what looked like a perfectly clean expanse […]

Stay in amongst the Tales of Pembrokeshire

Over the last week we’ve been releasing a series of videos featuring storytellers from around the county telling some Tales of Pembrokeshire, to coincide with National Storytelling Week and the start of Visit Wales’ Year of Legends. From a strange haunting at Carew Castle, to medieval pirates of Tenby, the legends surrounding Pembrokeshire help to make up the rich story of the county. When visiting Pembrokeshire, it’s tales provide another layer to your stay if you dig a bit deeper into the surrounding area. You never know what you might discover! Having watched the videos and heard the tales, here […]
