Easter Events in Pembrokeshire, 2017

Here in Pembrokeshire, we’ve been spoilt with a couple of sunny weekends recently. Those kind of weekends where you sit at the beach with an ice cream and a friend, making plans and dreaming about the summer. To give you peace of mind, we’re doing our best to keep the sun shining over our beautiful coastline for those of you who are packing your suitcases and loading up your cars in preparation for the Easter holidays. It’s looking bright out there today but fear not, we’re no strangers to breaking out a little sun-dance should the skies cloud over. (Note, […]

Take A Walk In The Park

There are so many things about Pembrokeshire that make life here unique. There’s the beaches that are stunning rain or shine, bustling towns, fabulous restaurants and the perfect surroundings for outdoor activities like kayaking or coasteering. Above all, the thing that draws people back year after year is our breathtaking coastline, and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path that snakes around it. Pembrokeshire is home to the UK’s only coastal National Park, and although we celebrate it by getting out there all year round, today is ‘National Take a Walk in the Park Day’ and so is the perfect excuse to make […]

Stay near Pembrokeshire Film Locations

Now that you have read my last blog all about how Pembrokeshire has played its own part in some of the most popular films and television programmes of recent years, it felt wrong to write about anything other than where you can stay to be near where the action happened! Yes, we’ve handpicked our very own selection of cottages where you can stay – all of which are nearby to the Pembrokeshire locations which you can spot on the silver screen! If you’re envious of the views of Pembroke Castle seen in Me Before You, then look no further than […]

Pembrokeshire on Film

Pembrokeshire’s literary connections are well known; Dylan Thomas wrote one of his most famous pieces, Under Milkwood, whilst living at his Boathouse in Laugharne and Roald Dahl favoured the seaside town of Tenby for his Easter retreats during his childhood. The county’s connections to the big screen on the other hand, may not be such common knowledge. But it is surprising how many times our western Welsh county has made its appearance in the cinemas, and occasionally on the smaller screen too. Robin Hood filming at Freshwater West For the past twenty years, the world has been obsessed with the […]

Introducing: Easter Extras

I’m not entirely sure how, but the first three months of the year seem to have passed by in a flash and we’re already planning our Easter holidays! Yes the days of hunting for chocolate eggs, hot cross buns as an appropriate breakfast item and spring picnics are nearly upon us. Hard to believe, as it seems that Christmas was here just a moment ago. If you’re struggling to grasp that Easter is just around the corner, we have something which is sure to make it a little easier to accept. Easter holidays in Pembrokeshire, complete with a selection of […]

National Nutrition Month

We all understand that it is important to live a healthy lifestyle but did you know there is a whole month dedicated to Nutrition? What started as a National Nutrition Week way back in 1973 has grown and developed into a month long campaign which runs annually in March. Run by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, National Nutrition Month aims to raise awareness of the importance of healthy eating habits alongside healthy physical activities. Put Your Best Fork Forward is the main theme for this year’s campaign, encouraging us that we can become healthier with small changes over time. […]

Val’s Welsh Lasagne

Here in the office, we’ve done something a little different to celebrate St David’s Day. I’m sure many of you are enjoying Welsh Cakes and Cawl today but I’ll let you in on a little secret, we indulge on those all year round! This year, our office cook Val has made a special Welsh lasagne! What makes it Welsh I hear you say? Well two of the main ingredients are leek and laverbread… laverbread being a Welsh delicacy, a greenish black paste made from an edible seaweed! So we thought we’d share her recipe with you, so you too can […]

All Things St Davids

St David’s Day means many things in Pembrokeshire. It means kids dressing up, the girls as traditional Welsh women (or ‘flower pot ladies’ as I used to call them as a child, due to the strange hat. Google it and you’ll see why) and boys with flat caps and tank tops. It means cawl served at every pub, more often than not made by the landlady herself. And it means pinning a leek or a daffodil to your chest, or a more recent phenomenon is wearing a daffodil headpiece so you resemble a sort of Celtic Teletubbies sun. These traditions are […]

Say “Happy Mother’s Day” with Coastal Cottages

It’s now just over a month until Mother’s Day, a day dedicated to giving thanks to our mums and showing them just how much we care. With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it can be easy to forget to tell those we love them exactly how we feel. We are easily distracted by life… by our jobs, by housework, by celebrity culture and largely by screens. But it’s important to remember those around you, those who play a special role in your life and without whom, life just wouldn’t be the same. Mother’s Day, which falls on Sunday […]

Feb Half Term in Pembrokeshire

It’s hard to believe that the first half term of the year is already upon us. We’ve somehow made it through the long month of January, and the warmer months are well and truly in sight! (For the moment however, it’s still slightly chilly so maybe don’t yet pack away those woolly hats and scarves!) So I hear you ask, what can we get up to in Pembrokeshire this Half Term? Spend the first evening of your half term in the historic town of Pembroke with a Winter Band Night in the Town Hall. From 7pm on the 18th, you […]
