May Half Term Events in Pembrokeshire

May Half Term is upon us, and from what I’ve seen on my travels through the county delivering hampers to cottages this morning, many of you are making your way down our many coastal roads to your home away from home for the week. I passed many a car packed full of luggage for the week ahead and if you’re anything like me, I’m sure lots of you are eager to get started with the exciting things you have planned for your stay! So speaking of exciting things, what’s going on in the county this week? Well Pembrokeshire never fails […]

In-House Cookery Experiences

Receiving your confirmation letter for your booking needn’t mean that the holiday planning stops there. In fact, that’s just the beginning of a great adventure! Here at Coastal Cottages, we have our very own Concierge service meaning we’re on hand to help you make your holiday as best it can be. For starters, our Concierge Team can provide you with a wealth of information about the local area including restaurant recommendations, dog friendly places to visit, walks with spectacular views and even the best family friendly attractions nearby. Not only that, we can help you arrange a whole host of […]

Pembrokeshire’s Farmers Markets

National Vegetarian Week, a campaign established to celebrate veggies, runs from Monday 15th May until the Sunday 21st this year. The campaign, run by The Vegetarian Society, aims to encourage people to take a step out of their usual routine and go meat-free for the week. But if you’re an avid meat-eater, seven whole days of being meat-free can be somewhat of a challenge. Taking meat off the menu sometime results in the opinion that your meal options become more limited, but that needn’t be the case. Pembrokeshire always has a whole host of delicious produce on offer, a statement […]

National BBQ Month

With longer days and warmer weather, May makes the perfect choice when deciding which month to appoint the title of National BBQ Month, so it really is no wonder that the National Barbecue Association did so! I’m sure you don’t need any further encouragement to get involved but just in case you do, our Barbecue Packages are guaranteed to make a Pembrokeshire barbecue hard to resist this month! The most important thing when planning your barbecue is to make sure you have the best quality meat for everyone to enjoy. Our Barbecue Packs are bursting with local produce courtesy of […]

Stay near Pembrokeshire’s Cleddau Estuary

Just in case our previous blog has got you eager to explore Pembrokeshire’s “secret waterway”, we’ve shortlisted a few properties nearby to the estuary to help you on your way to booking your next stay near the Cleddau. If you’re thinking of planning a romantic retreat for two, look no further than Pond Cottage in Landshipping. With the area once a hive of activity for the coal industry, Pond Cottage was once an old miner’s cottage but has since been beautifully renovated to a high standard. This picturesque cottage is set on the shores of a tidal pond within two […]

Easter Events in Pembrokeshire, 2017

Here in Pembrokeshire, we’ve been spoilt with a couple of sunny weekends recently. Those kind of weekends where you sit at the beach with an ice cream and a friend, making plans and dreaming about the summer. To give you peace of mind, we’re doing our best to keep the sun shining over our beautiful coastline for those of you who are packing your suitcases and loading up your cars in preparation for the Easter holidays. It’s looking bright out there today but fear not, we’re no strangers to breaking out a little sun-dance should the skies cloud over. (Note, […]

Pig Beach comes to Pembrokeshire!

You may have heard about pigs flying, but what about swimming? A Pembrokeshire beach is set to be home to a group of pigs that need re-homing from a local farm! There are currently two sows living on the beach and from April 1st the rest of the group will gradually be introduced to their new habitat where fresh water sources and shelters have been installed. We’re not allowed to reveal the location of the beach, as it’s important to keep human disturbance to a minimum while the pigs get used to their new home, but the hope is they’ll be […]

Where to stay in Amroth

As a follow up to our last blog about how fantastic Amroth is as a holiday destination, here are a pick of properties in Amroth that provide the perfect base for a break, whether it’s a family holiday or a couple’s retreat. For a family, Capel Swn Y Mor was recently included in The Times’ 50 Best Cottages in Britain, and will not disappoint. Meaning ‘Chapel by the Sea,’ this stunning conversion of a Victorian chapel is set right on the seafront with the beach across the road and incredible views over Carmarthen Bay. It has been restored in such […]

Stay near Pembrokeshire Film Locations

Now that you have read my last blog all about how Pembrokeshire has played its own part in some of the most popular films and television programmes of recent years, it felt wrong to write about anything other than where you can stay to be near where the action happened! Yes, we’ve handpicked our very own selection of cottages where you can stay – all of which are nearby to the Pembrokeshire locations which you can spot on the silver screen! If you’re envious of the views of Pembroke Castle seen in Me Before You, then look no further than […]

Pembrokeshire on Film

Pembrokeshire’s literary connections are well known; Dylan Thomas wrote one of his most famous pieces, Under Milkwood, whilst living at his Boathouse in Laugharne and Roald Dahl favoured the seaside town of Tenby for his Easter retreats during his childhood. The county’s connections to the big screen on the other hand, may not be such common knowledge. But it is surprising how many times our western Welsh county has made its appearance in the cinemas, and occasionally on the smaller screen too. Robin Hood filming at Freshwater West For the past twenty years, the world has been obsessed with the […]
