Sympathetically renovated to a high standard and furnished in an eclectic mix of contemporary and antique pieces beautifully reflecting its association with the river and its fishing history, the split level L-shaped layout leads from the comfortable sitting area with wood burning stove, which overlooks the pretty gardens with distant views of the estuary, to a fitted kitchen area, then to a lovely romantic double room. Enjoy an alfresco meal on your own south facing terrace on a summer's evening, a board walk leads to another decked area. The shared lawned garden is all beautifully planted with a cottage garden feel.
Set in the heart of St Dogmaels, yet screened from view by stone walls and tall trees, it is a perfect base for Teifi estuary walks, (only 15 yards away), where Cormorants, Curlews, wildlife; and flora are regular guests, as well as the occasional Seal! Relax on the bench set in the shared grounds that overlooks this beautiful waterway and just watch the world drift by. Guests have been known to buy Lobster fresh from the shoreline outside the house from fishermen, a great spot and within walking distance of several local pubs serving good food. The wonderful long beach, Poppit Sands, is less than 2 miles away and marks the start of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. There is an excellent farmer’s market and a range of specialist shops, restaurants, pubs and a theatre at the pretty market town of Cardigan, less than a 5 minute drive away.

Penally Boathouse Mews Cottages A group of 2 delightful cottages and a boathouse set in the grounds of the owners home, Penally House, in an enviable position nestling on the banks of the river Teifi in the popular village of St Dogmaels. Individually and beautifully renovated to a high standard retaining a traditional feel with nautical tones. Perfect for sailing and water enthusiasts there are several good pubs in St Dogmaels as well as small shops and a renowned fish and chip shop. The long sandy beach of Poppit Sands is nearby and the start of the Coastal Path. Each cottage has its own terrace or you are welcome to enjoy the owners garden, the best spot has to be the long bench overlooking the river itself, ideal to watch the bird and wildlife go by.

The property shares the gravel pathway at the front of the main house with 1 Penally Boathouse Mews (10856). The access to 2 Penally Boathouse Mews requires access along the front edge of 1 Penally Boathouse Mews terrace and then x2 6ins stone steps up to the terraced area laid to the front of 2 Penally Boathouse Mews. There is a 3ins step up and over threshold to the front stable door of 2 Penally Boathouse Mews into the living room. The kitchen is accessed from the living room via a 6ins step 'up.' The bedroom is accessed from the kitchen via x2 6ins steps 'up'. The shower room is accessed from the bedroom. The floor level is the same throughout. All properties (10588 The Boathouse, 10856 1 Penally Boathouse Mews & 10998 2 Penally Boathouse Mews) have access to a rotary washing line situated in the back yard of the house. The line is accessed via two 3ins high steps 'up' and through a low level picket gate. A lovely place to stay. We stayed in 2 Penally Boathouse Mews (aka Saddlers Cottage) for our honeymoon. We loved the cosy and comfortable atmosphere, as well as enjoying the quiet village and coastal walks. Highlights of our stay have included visiting Dinas Head, St Dogmaels Market and Poppit Sands. Porthgain is also very well worth a visit - we had lunch at 'The Shed' which does great fish and chips. We hope to visit again soon.
We have had a lovely relaxing week, the cottage is perfect. Weather has been very kind. The market in St Dogmaels on a Tuesday is worth a visit, as is The Watch House for lunch. The Ferry Inn is good for food too. Mwnt is fabulous. Thank you.
