About The Barn

The Barn is a quaint conversion and extension to a picture postcard stone cottage set in the tiny hamlet of Trelerw which is made up of just a handful of houses, only 250 yards from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path down an unmade lane surrounded by National Park and rolling countryside. The Barn with its rough, whitewashed, plastered walls and beams retains all its original character. The kitchen/diner while having mod cons has a simple traditional cottage look with scrub pine units, the spacious lounge with lovely sea views has a woodburning stove which makes a cosy retreat on a chillier evening. A ground floor bedroom has been added while stairs from the lounge lead up to two further pretty bedrooms above. Wake in the master bedroom and soak up the wonderful sea view out over St Brides Bay. Sit to the front of the cottage to really soak up the wonderful sea view a veritable sun trap where you can enjoy an alfresco meal or alternatively an arch leads to a tiny, sunken island garden to the side of the cottage.

The Barn is conveniently located with St Davids and all its facilities just 1 mile away, as well as Caerfai beach, whilst just a little further is the sandy, watersports beach of Whitesands popular with professional and amateur surfers alike. Join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and explore this stunning coastline leading you round St Brides Bay.

A real gem of a holiday cottage.

Another wonderful week, enjoyed everything very much. Lots of coastal path walking. Thank you, see you next year 🙂

Glorious sunny week in Pembrokeshire. Loved that we could walk from the cottage to Solva and St David's very easily. It's so quiet here, a real joy to be somewhere so comfortable, so peaceful with close access to the coastal path, and yet within reach of the city. The wild flowers along the coast, and the blue/green waters at this time of year make it an extra special place to stay, we'll be back.

Beautiful Barn, glorious part of the world. Thank you. Time away in the quiet very relaxing and invigorating especially coldness of water around you as you swim. Thank you great to be here superb weather. Great company and fun!

Glen, Kathy & Molly

Lovely cottage, beautiful location, we love St Davids. Ideal base for walking and relaxing.

Julia, Simon & Buddy the cockapoo

Our daughter booked this as a surprise for Christmas. This was one of the few walks we hadn’t previously done. Such a beautiful and relaxing setting – ideal for us. Loved staying here. Thank you so much for a lovely stay. The cottage did not disappoint. Would certainly book it again if available :)

Bec, Tom, Millie & Cooper

A beautiful cottage within 2 minutes of Pembrokeshire coastal path. A wonderful treat for Mother’s Day weekend. We had perfect weather too. For food Saturday evening we popped to the Cambrian Inn in Solva. Thank you for a wonderful stay – you truly have a gem in the heart of Pembrokeshire. Diolch.

Julie, Al, Ceridwen & Ze the dog

What a fab New Year weekend, away from it all for a recharge before school/work next week. Thank you so much for the lovely warm and cosy space that met us on our arrival. The Barn was just perfect for our little family and we hope to return :) So quiet, we loved the wood fire and fluffy towels and amazing central heating. Thank you and Happy New Year! (2019)

Marianne, Yann & Slex

Very peaceful location and well equipped cottage. Great access to the beautiful coastal path and the picturesque St Davids. All in all, a lovely long weekend away from the big smoke!

Clare, Leigh & 'Chopper'

We hopped in the car at 2pm on Friday to travel across the waters for a ‘long weekend’. The journey was worth it – even though it’s only been a few days, it’s still a lovely break from working life, so feeling refreshed :) Things that we have enjoyed here – the beautiful dark sky at night, so many stars to gaze at! Seeing our dog so happy to be on an adventure… Welsh cakes and tea after a walk… having cosy evenings in. The cottage is so quirky – thank you for letting us stay.

Andy, Ros and Bonnie the dog

A relaxing week - Managed to walk some of the coastal path which is amazing - the wild flowers are in full bloom. The cottage is in a perfect situation - look out for 'my fox' in the field over the road. The weather picked up mid week - sooo chilled. Thanks.

Amanda and Julian

A blustery week but plenty of opportunity to walk the coastal path. Freshwater east, Solva, Whitesands offer some of the loveliest bits of the coast so little need to get in the car if you don't want to. The Pharmacy at Solva was very good. The meat from the butcher in St Davids is really good.

Dim, Jord and Star the dog

We all had a great week, managed to dodge the downpour! Star loves the beaches and we were really pleased when we saw the seals and wonderful views everywhere.

Keith and Elspeth Nicolson

Lovely, well-appointed cottage. Dreamy bed, wonderful access to stunning coastal path. Heatwave meant it would have been good to sit out in the shade at times.

June Karenina

My 4th year at The Barn. Thanks to Cath looking after it and to the owners for the improvements. Great weather, looking forward to my next visit.

Calder family

A lovely place to be during a heatwave! we very much enjoyed being so close to the sea. Particular highlights included: wild flowers, lizards, birds, butterflies, paddling and swimming in the sea and sampling various ice cream shops on St Davids.

David, Alison and family

We had a fabulous week in the picturesque cottage. Great quiet location for lovely walks along the coastal path. A mixed week of weather but managed to do everything we wanted to.

Ros and George Kirkland

We have had an amazing week at this cosy cottage. We have been blessed with fabulous weather so have done lots of coastal walks. We have loved the peace and quiet and idyllic location of the cottage - a perfect base to explore the area. The Celtic Coaster Bus service is superb, enabling you to walk in one direction along the coast and get the bus back to your car.

Ruth, Jennifer and John

We had a lovely week visiting old haunts and acquaintances and being in this peaceful and beautiful location.

Glenda and Duncan

A wonderful week with the beauty of Pembrokeshire seen in all weathers - from stormy to sunny tranquility, all eaqually beautiful. The perfectly situated cottage was a welcoming, warm haven.

We have had a great week and the weather has been brilliant. W have loved staying at The Barn with its fantastic view and peaceful stay - it is unbelievably quiet at night! The clear night skies, sunrises and sunsets are beautiful! We've had some lovely days out to Whitesands, Solva, Newgale, Nolton Haven, Porthgain and St Davids - all within an reasonable distance from this great location. The Bishops and the Farmers do some tasty food, and a venture down the coastal path is totally unmissable! The welcome pack of tea, coffee and welsh cakes was an appreciated discovery after a long drive down here - thank you! Overall we have had a fantastic time and would love to book this cottage again!

Very cosy cottage, wonderful views, walks on doorstep! We were very lucky with the weather, 5 days out 7 sunshine. Recommend The Sloop Inn at Porthgain to eat, drink and be merry. Great atmosphere and food. Also saw 8 seals and seal pups in Martin's Haven. Managed the whole week without meeting vehicle on this road!

Malcolm & Anita Brittain

Despite the wet and very windy weather we thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay in this cosy cottage. We needed the fire each evening and used drift wood to supplement the anthracite. The scenery around is so beautiful and we intend to return again during the spring/summer. A real doggy paradise.
