Holiday Cottage in Poppit Sands

Availability & Book

About Brynawelon

Brynawelon, once an old stone fisherman’s cottage, tucked away in the most stunning location on the Coastal Path with breathtaking sea views above Poppit Sands which is sure to delight.

A narrow, no through lane, leads from the beautiful Poppit Sands beach up to this old stone cottage, nestling in an elevated position above the water, a 10 minute downhill walk on a steep footpath takes you to a tiny hidden cove where if you are lucky you might spot a seal and from which at low tide you can walk along the foreshore to Poppit Sands and the Teifi river. Comfortably and simply furnished with a small galley-style kitchen/diner, nearly every room offers super sea views over the water, either back to Poppit or out over Cardigan Bay. It offers character with retained stone walls, the sitting room with its large inglenook and wood burning stove is sure to be cosy on chillier evenings and opens to the garden, while the main double bedroom leads off with a lovely water view. Narrow steep stairs from the sitting room lead to two more bedrooms nestling in the eaves.

Set in a natural, meadow style garden with mature trees, enjoy dining alfresco looking out over Carmarthen Bay, you can even enjoy a little dolphin and porpoise watching. It is a walkers’ paradise with footpaths abounding and bird and wildlife enthusiasts will be in their element. Take the Coastal Path to Caemes Head, the highest cliffs on the path, the views are breathtaking and in Autumn the seals and their pups are sure to delight. There is a cafe and a pub in Poppit Sands within walking distance or St Dogmaels itself, is just under two miles away. Enjoy exploring its Abbey ruins and Local Producers Market, while there is a choice of riverside pubs to try and an excellent fish and chip shop.

The market town of Cardigan is worth a visit with a range of boutique shops, Castle and galleries. Visit Theatre Mwldan or the cinema. A boat trip round Cardigan Bay should not be missed. This coastline has been designated Heritage Coast and offers shelter to some of Britain’s rarest bird and marine life with sightings of the resident Bottlenose Dolphins, Porpoises and Grey Seals with occasional sightings of Basking Sharks, Orcas and Minke Whales.

This truly is a special holiday home to escape to and use as a base to explore this unique area.
