About Hafan Deg

Hafan Deg is a spacious detached bungalow set on a quiet residential cul-de-sac in the popular village of Roch, less than 2 miles from the stunning Newgale beach. You will appreciate how close you are to the coast when you spot the sea glimpses.

Beautifully renovated to a high standard to give ideal one level accommodation, it is stylishly furnished with a contemporary feel and quality finish throughout. The wooden and tiled floors make it highly practical, while the large modern kitchen/diner is beautifully fitted and well-equipped. The sitting room with its leather sofas and wood burning stove is perfect for relaxing and ensures a cosy feel on the chilliest of evenings, while the ensuite twin bedroom arches through to an additional seating area where adults and children alike can spend time reading or watching TV, giving plenty of room for all.

Set on a large plot, the lawn with mature shrubs and pretty flowers wrap around the house, enjoy an alfesco meal on a summer’s evening. Ideal for walkers, cyclists and surfers, there is even storage space for bikes and plenty of room for drying and washing equipment off.

Conveniently situated, Roch has a strong local community with regular events organised, as well as a popular pub with microbrewery, that serves food within walking distance in the village. There is also a National Trust cross country footpath from Roch to Newgale Beach. The stunning beach of Newgale with its golden sand is less than 2 miles away by road, popular with families and surfers, both beginners and professionals alike. Spend your days on the beach, take advantage of the surf hire shop to try your hand at a new sport, enjoy its 2 beachside cafes and pub.

Join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to really explore this breathtaking coastline with hidden coves and beaches. Further afield lies the picturesque harbour village of Solva with a choice of pubs, restaurants and shops, the traditional woollen mill at Middle Mill is well worth a visit. While in the other direction is the long sandy beach of Broad Haven. The tiny city of St Davids with its magnificent Cathedral, Bishops Palace, range of shops, restaurants and pubs is only a short drive away.

Hafan Deg is an ideal holiday home for families and friends to enjoy whatever the season, perfect for exploring all that this beautiful area of Pembrokeshire has to offer.

What a beautiful bungalow. Very clean, spacious, everything was top notch & well thought out. Great garden for the dog and BBQ! Lovely view towards Newgale with some stunning sunsets/sky! Interesting to read about the journey of Hafan Deg – thank you to the owners for sharing their bungalow It’s the best and cleanest accommodation in our 24 years of coming here! Newgawle is a must at low tide, Solva & St Davids. We aim to book for next year - can’t wait! Thank you for the welcome pack too!

Really lucked out with the weather – good few days of pure blue sky which created lovely and dramatic views, especially up on St Govens Head & Chapel. The coast in this area is so diverse and impressive, some of the best we’ve seen and we loved exploring the multiple caves on Newgale beach (+ one you can walk through to the other side). Frequently visited Solva and enjoyed the quirky shops and beach – we even managed to win 3rd place in Solva summer fate dog show with Peggy as we stumbled upon it. Would also recommend visiting St Davids Cathedral, Porthgain, and exploring as much of the coastline as possible. Absolutely loved the house, and the sociable kitchen, and had decent views of the sunsets out of the windows. The beach walk route provided was useful, and very pleasant. Very well equipped cottage and all round lovely place to stay – thank you very much, and thank you for the welcome hamper too!

Cloud, rain, fog, glimpse of the sun, lots of wind – but always a warm and welcoming home to return to. Loved the outdoor warm water shower for washing sandy feet – never come across this before, a wonderful innovation. Alternated between coastal walks (St Davids Head; Marloes and Martins Haven – not too strenuous circular walks, with three sets of seal pups seen on the latter) and braving the surf. Wetsuits definitely help, we had some from New Surf at Newgale beach. Many thanks also for the description of the path down to the beach – it wasn’t on our maps and we wouldn’t have found it otherwise. We have many years’ experience of summer holidays in Pembrokeshire, the weather certainly variable, but we always have a good time.

A lovely bungalow, very clean with everything you need. ~Thank you for the hamper. Weather on the whole generally good. We had some lovely days out at Barafundle, Bosherston Lily Ponds, Marloes and St Davids. Beautiful views of Newgale from the garden and some lovely sunsets. Will definitely be coming back.

Claire & family

Hello, just wanted to give you some feedback on our recent stay. The welcome pack was lovely and very much appreciated after a long drive. The property is simply stunning and finished to a very high standard. The layout also worked out perfectly for us being Mum, Dad, Grampy and two children. The pieces of artwork were beautiful to look at and a really nice touch. All the kitchen utensils/pots and pans/crockery were all an excellent standard and the bedrooms bathrooms were spotless. Although not easy to walk to beach as is main road, everything is a short car distance away. Also the board games and other things in the property were very welcome too. Thank you Coastal Cottages and the owners of Hafan Deg for an idyllic stay.
