About Halfways

Halfways is a pretty detached stone cottage that nestles in a sheltered hollow, halfway between St Davids which is just over half a mile away, with all its facilities; and the sea and Pembrokeshire Coastal Path at Porthclais.

This spacious bungalow has been recently renovated and thoughtfully extended; comfortably furnished throughout, the fitted cottage-style kitchen is well-equipped for preparing family meals, the welcome lounge with leather sofas has an open fire which ensures a cosy feel on the chilliest of evenings. The large conservatory style dining room with long refectory style dining table is ideal for leisurely family meals, French doors open to a paved patio, a perfect sun trap and lovely spot to enjoy an alfresco meal after exploring the beautiful beaches and many activities nearby. The rear hallway leads to the spacious bedrooms. Surrounded by an acre of enclosed lawned grounds, there is plenty of space for children to play or adults to just relax and enjoy the stunning views.

A 10 minute walk will take you to the excellent shops, pubs and restaurants in the centre of St Davids, the UK's smallest City with its wonderful Cathedral and Bishops Palace. Alternatively join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to explore the stunning coastline with its hidden coves and beaches. A trip to Ramsey from St Justinian’s to see the seals and visit this bird sanctuary should not be missed, while Whitesands Beach renowned for its surf is popular with beginners and professionals alike, try a new water sport from the seasonal hire shop.

Halfways really is an idyllic holiday haven for family and friends to gather.

Please note there are three natural springs in the garden, 2 on drive and 1 behind house. (Ground water not streams/ponds.)

Discount for smaller parties outside school holidays on request - please enquire on 01437 767600 or 01437 765765.

Halfways is approached down a country road. Once through the gate there is a steep drive down to the property. There is parking for up to four cars on a paved drive outside the property. The drive outside the property is sloping and uneven, so care needs to be taken. The entrance is through a porch with small step through the doorway approximately 2 inches. The entrance is 30 inches at narrowest point. It is a bungalow, but there is a 9 inch step with hand rail and then a six inch step to bedroom 1 (no hand rail actually to the bedroom). There is a six inch step to bedroom 2 with hand rail. Bedroom 2 has a narrow entrance of 2 ft. There are 3 six inch steps with hand rail up into the new extension leading to bedrooms 3 and 4, the shower room and separate toilet. Bedroom 3 and 4 have 30 inch entrance. The main bathroom has entrance of 28 inch and the bath is 2 foot step in. Hand rail to access shower. The shower has entrance of 27 inch, but because of the space the door to the shower only opens 181/2 inches. Hand rail in shower. It is possible to enter from the top of the house to bedroom 3 and 4 without going down or up a step.

Peace and beauty surrounds us, what more can we say. We thank you for enabling us to be here again at this perfect cottage looking at the islands and the sea. We had a short but happy time with mixed weather - Sad to leave today and looking forward to our return. Just perfect in every way!

We had mixed weather during our stay, but that didn't stop us going out and enjoying the countryside. St Davids Kitchen is highly recommended as well as The Farmers Arms. It does amazing Gluten free Fish & Chips. The cliff walks down the hill at Porthclais have wonderful views with plenty of picnic spots. Not quite our 13th visit, but not far off. We all love it here. Thanks for having us.

So lucky with the weather - we are going home bronzed! Wonderful walks from Halfways, all the way to Whitesands. Also, woodland walk from Solva to Woollen Mill and back again. A day of rock pooling on Whitesands and exploring on Druidstone beach - perhaps lesser known, dramatic cliffs here and lot's of space for exploring deep rock pools (park on road, then 10 minute walk down the path), all on the other side of Nolton Haven. We pottered round St Davids, tasty food at The Bishops and Oggies pasties. Thousand Island boat trip around Ramsey Island is well worth the £25 - Super experience. If you are feeling like going further then we recommend heading down to Stackpole and Bosherston (South Pembs). What a super week - busy, but refreshing and beautiful. Thank you once again.

Celebrated New Year at Halfways with great friends (Plus Sash the dog). Lovely walks along the coast - even saw a couple of Porpoises around Ramsey Island. Lot's of brave people in swimming costumes for the New Years Day swim (Must do that next year!) We enjoyed mountain bike rides on the Preselli Hills. Lovely food in The Sloop and The Bishops - Yummy! Fab week had by all.

Had a fabulous week at Halfways! Weather was amazing and the cottage is in the perfect location for beaches - We visited Whitesands and Caerfai - both within walking distance. For a longer walk, the coastal path to Solva is beautiful. We can recommend the coffee at No.32 in Solva! Porthclais is great for putting in the Kayaks. We have been coming to St Davids for many years, but we all agree that this has been the best holiday yet. Halfways suited our needs perfectly and we loved the location. We hope to return next year! Many thanks.

Thank you for a lovely holiday. Baby Teddy (Aged 5 months) had his first holiday ever, and enjoyed a paddle at Newgale beach. We loved the walks on the coastal path, especially from St Justinians to Whitesands (We love Whitesands). The highlights were Fish & Chips at the shed in Porthgain. The crab sandwiches at The Old Pharmacy in Solva were fab too. We even saw 2 badgers one evening around the bird table in the garden! Thank you for a lovely stay.
