About Penmynydd Cottage

Penmynydd Cottage is a semi detached cottage next to the owner’s holiday home down a shared driveway. Set in a lovely rural spot outside the small village of Llanhian, yet Traeth Llyfn Beach - one of Pembrokeshire’s finest - is near by.

Most of the rooms offer the most wonderful views of the sea across the fields. Beautifully restored it was once an old fisherman’s cottage, comfortably furnished, the spacious kitchen/diner has a tiled floor and modern fitted kitchen, while the lounge with its lovely wooden French oak floor has cosy, easy seating and a woodburning stove for chillier evenings in. Stairs lead up to the bedrooms in the eaves. The romantic master bedroom with fresh white linen and drapes offers views out over the coast.

Spend summer evenings on the pretty patio in front of the cottage, sip a glass of wine and enjoy an alfresco meal while you soak up the stunning sunsets over the sea.

Ideally positioned to explore the many beaches and coves nearby, the popular Sloop Inn is less than 1.5 mile away in Porthgain, sample the fresh fish that the local fishermen bring in or explore the other pretty fishing villages set along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

This is an ideal retreat for a couple or a family to enjoy a relaxing break.

Samantha and Ken

Our second stay at this lovely cottage and it was even better than last time. Fantastic weather, wonderful beaches and walks, nice places to eat (The Shed at Porthgain, Cambrian Inn at Solva) Also Gardeners Rest tearoom at Hilton Court , Roch , good for lunch. Perennial Garden/ Nursery on coast road to St Davids nice for light lunch/cake/drinks. Lots of wildlife along the coastal paths/beaches e.g. seals, large variety of birds. Lovely walk form Porthgain to Abereiddy , including steps down to Traeth Llyfn beach at the Blue Lagoon. Cottage very comfortable, cosy and well equipped, with great sunsets! Thank you for a lovely stay and for the milk and welshcakes. We hope to come again!

Judi and Bob

Back again at this lovely cottage. Storms mid week but still managed several sightings of seal pups (outside Trefin). Changes in eating out: beer still good at The Sloop, fish and chips at The Shed pricier but still excellent. If you want a real treat, try the St David's kitchen, worth every penny! Thank you again

Gavin and Karen

Had a wonderful week, great coastal walks, the most stunning coastline we've experienced. Great cottage that had everything we needed. So quiet!

Emily, Alice, Clare and James

This is our second time and we have had another lovely time at this lovely cottage. Our favourite things have been St Davids, the beach and the bug farm, The Mill and Somethings Cooking. We'll be back next year at the same lovely cottage.

Janet, Simon, Ally, Don and Samba the Dog

Weather was excellent and we enjoyed our BBQs whilst watching the spectacular sunset. We also dined out at The Shed, The Sloop (Porthgain) and The Ship Inn (Trefin). All recommended but do phone ahead to book. We enjoyed the easy access to the coast path and the beaches. We enjoyed boat trips to Ramsey Island and a fish one- the mackerel and pollock were very tasty barbecued.

The Toop Family

We loved our holiday and can't wait to come back! Not great weather but we all had a lovely time. One of the highlights was a 1 hour boat trip around Ramsey Island with Falcon boats- we saw so many seals. Castell Henllys and the Dyfed Shire Horse Centre proved to be great days out yet again! Enjoyed several hours at Whitesands even in the clouds!

Helen and Dave Nicholls

Lovely cottage with beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed the walk to Trefin to swim at the beach and stop off for a pint at the pub. Also breakfast in the cafe in Trefin is a must and they serve all day. There is a sandy beach to the left of Porthgain worth walking to, up the steps at the end of the harbour. We will definitely be back.

Linda, Steve & Barney the Dog, Worcestershire

Lovely stay in a beautiful well equipped cottage, all perfect - even the weather! Lots of lovely places to visit and all very scenic! Thank you

Sue & Steve, N. Yorkshire

Weather, cottage and location all great! We had a lovely time.

Judy and Bob Spears

As usual, a lovely week with lots of sunshine and many new seal and porpoise sightings. Thanks.

‘What a lovely surprise to find such a welcoming cottage, lovely and warm (there was storm/thunder) and a pleasant treat in the kitchen. The views were very beautiful and the accommodation more than adequate ( 2 bathrooms, super!) This is without doubt a ‘classy’ stay. Thanks, let’s see how the next few days go! Love Pembrokeshire and of course Wales (being Welsh ha!) ‘Dad’ loved being back in Pembrokeshire enjoying pints at The Sloop Inn and a meal at The Shed. Well catered for and a local robin called in often. We loved it. ‘

This cottage had everything we needed and a great location to get out and about to the surrounding countryside and coastline. Highlights were our walk round Dinas Head, meals just down the road at both The Sloop and The Shed in Porthgain - and ice crams in St Davids! So nice to BBQ out on the patio - the views a real treat to wake up to!

John & Lorraine and John & Sue

Amazing week. The area is magnificent. We have enjoyed St Davids coastal walks, gardens, boat trips and lovely food. The Shed and The Sloop lived up to expectations. The cottage has provided a lovely, relaxing base. The views are wonderful - especially when the sun has shined! Our stay was crowned by a trip to Ffold y Brenin near Dinas, a great place to visit.

Adam, Claire, Christy and James

Enjoyed wonderful coastal walks and body-boarding at Whitesands and Marloes. Druiston Haven was a sea safari! Saw starfish, guppy fish, large crabs and huge jellyfish on the beach. Interesting to see progress of the new Lifeboat Station at St Justinians. The kids loved Oakwood theme park. The Green Bridge of Wales and Stackrocks near Castlemartin are spectacular. Barafundle Beach is lovely, also the small beach at Stackpole Quay - sheltered and sunny. Sad to leave Pembrokeshire we have had a lovely holiday. Cottage was comfortable as ever.

Sally and Jonathan

Enjoyed our week exploring North Pembrokeshire! Great county and weather good too! Beaches are some of the best in the UK. Had good food at The Sloop and The Shed!

Colin, Annette and Robbie the dog

Brilliant week, fabulous weather, sketching the amazing views, enjoyed the Coastal Path, blessed with sightings of natural wildlife. The cafe and The Ship Inn in Trefin are ace. Cottage is peaceful, love the ever changing views from the kitchen window each morning and evening with special visitors - calves! Beautiful skies, will return.

Ray and Sally

What a fab week of weather, amazing to be on the beach sunbathing and swimming. The cottage is lovely, warm, cost and well equipped. What a fabulous place to stay, great views, grand sunsets. The walk from Porthgain to Abereiddy is worth the stunning views plus a great beach, secluded although down a lot of steps. The Sloop is a great pub to both eat and drink with very friendly staff. We have booked for next year already!

Debbie, Andy and Lexie the dog

What a lovely, cosy cottage with wonderful views of the Pembrokeshire countryside, and jolly friendly cows! A much needed week of walking the coast path, visiting beaches and relaxing at The Sloop Inn, which is highly recommended. Brilliant place for walking straight from the front door, ideal for dogs too. A fantastic week, blessed with plenty of sunshine.

John, Rachel and Williams and Sparky & Izzy the dogs

Fantastic cottage, everything you need is here. Relaxing calm environment, great walks and coastline. Interesting industrial heritage at local bays and harbours. Plenty of places to go out with the dogs. Lovely to come home to on an evening and cook a good meal. The weather has been good, warm every day.

Mandy, Dai and Izzy the dog

Lovely cottage - everything we needed easy walks from here for the dog and central for where we wanted to travel. Loved Newgale Beach - Izzy our dog thought it was heaven.

The Cresswell Family

Loved the accommodation clean, warm, cosy and quiet - ticked all the boxes! This holiday was for chilling out and we certainly achieved that! A nice combination of eating out and staying in fish and chips at Gary's quay road Goodwick and going to the shed. The weather mixed but that hasn't stopped us, nice to come back to such a lovely place after a day out. Newgale beach lovely and we found a lovely beach close by to walk Barney the dog! What a nice break shame we have to go back to working for a living!

The Smith Family

A wonderful week, quiet and great views. St David's a little city more like a village wonderful trip seal watching. Great dog walking. You can hire wet suits from St David's and the kids enjoyed the secret beach walk from Abereiddy and downstairs to beach towards Porthgain.(dog didn't make the metal steps)but the others made it! Clean comfy and lovely cottage!

The Eastwood Family

Lovely cosy cottage with amazing views. Have enjoyed our week with only half a days rain. Coastal path like a garden with all the flowers and Skomer tranquil with Puffins and other sea birds.

The Wilcox Family

A fantastic week of sunshine everyday. Our first time in Pembrokeshire and loved every bit of it. The dogs were in heaven beach and swimming everyday especially like Aber Mawr beach as a twenty five minute walk from the road through lovely countryside before getting to the beach. St David's is beautiful, loved the cottage as well - a very friendly and cosy atmosphere1 We hope to return soon.

The Warren Family

Lovely cottage in absolutely stunning location. The highlight of our week has definitely been walking the coastal path especially to Porthgain and discovering the seals with their young pups on the beach. The area is steeped in interesting history and quite evocative,we discovered something new everyday. We will be back!

The Spears Family

Actions speak louder than words we will book again! Our 5th year staying in this area even changing we were not disappointed!

The Richards Family

A great week mostly sunny, little need to travel as Whitesands a great beach for our dog until the ban on the 1st of May. Still plenty of other beaches. Wonderful coastal flora much enjoyed. All in all a very relaxing and comfortable week. The Coastal cruiser bus makes circular walks around St David's really easy and at £1.00 a head and free for one wet dog is really worth supporting.

The Hargate's

Very relaxing week in a great location. First time in Pembrokeshire and we will be back. Great weather! Everthing was perfect about the cottage and we really enjoyed the cosy nights in. The Shed for fish and chips were great and we had a good meal at The Grove in St Davids. Solva is worth a visit and Tenby was very pretty. The beaches at Newgale and Whitesands are awesome and don't miss the Blue Lagoon at Abereiddi. Sorry to be leaving!

The Peksa Family

Weather dry but windy for the first few days. Lovely comfortable cottage with great views. Peaceful and secluded. Willow, the labrador, loved the beaches and the sea and is going home exhasuted!

The Styles Family

Our 3rd visit. Another relaxing holiday in a fantastic setting, cottage very comfortable. Weather a mix of sun and cloud, often windy. However still enjoyed coastal scenery and beaches at Whitesands, Broad Haven South, Abereiddi and Marloes Sands. Pembroke Castle is great. The children have loved body boarding, rock pooling and collecting shells. We booked at The Sloop Inn and enjoyed a family meal - great atmosphere. We are sorry to be leaving, thank you for your hospitality.

The Naylor Family

Lovely fortnight with plenty of beach days, Whitesands definitely the best beach - excellent body boarding and a wonderful beach shop. Kayak hire at Newgale vrey good even with no previous kayaking experience. Ramsey Island boat trip was brilliant and we saw seals, porpoises, gulls etc. Cycling at Llys y Fran very good but tricky sections require mountain bikes. The Brunel trail from Haverfordwest to Neyland is very flat with a very nice cafe at the end. Pembertons Chocolate Farm is great for a rainy day. We all enjoyed The Shed but agree that you must book in advance unless you want a take-away. Another great place for food is Cottage Caterers, you ring them with your order and then collect it later. You then have a lovely meal which you haven't had to cook. Over all we really enjoyed our stay and hope to come again!

The Taylor Family

Lovely to enjoy the tranquility of the superbly located and appointed cottage. Mixed weather but glorious walks and views each day. Superb variety of butterflies. Coastal Paths glorious! Wonderful hospitality at both The Sloop and The Shed highly recommended!

The Mainwaring Family

We all thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful week, with lots of walks on the coastal paths. Watched fantastic sunsets over the sea. The Shed at Porthgain is a definite hit - but remember to book to avoid dissapointment! Looking forward to coming here in Pembrokeshire again!

The Farr Family

Relaxing holiday, lovely cottage, lots of walking, especially to Traeth Llyfn where we spent many an hour watching the noisy peregrines giving us fantastic air displays! We ate at The Ship Inn, Trefin, and also The Sloop and The Shed in Porthgain - all good! Can also recommend excellent sandwiches at the cafe in Trefin!

The Reynolds Family

This has been our second visit to Pembrokeshire and I have to say, it has been fantastic. Last time we stayed in Lower Town Fishguard - however staying here has been so very restful, due to location and quietness. The weather has been brilliant and perfect for all the coastal walking - I swear the dogs legs must be shorter after all the miles they've done! If you like your coastal walks try doing the one from St Davids. You can park in Porthclais Harbour and then get on the coastal path heading towards St Justinians. There's some fantastic coast lines to see and a vast range of wild flowers and birds - There's also a lovely beach half way which is ideal for having your lunch at. Talking of beaches our favourite is Traeth Llyfn - you can only get there by foot, from either Abereiddi or Porthgain. Its only about 30mins walk on pretty easy terrain (But be aware there are a few steps down to the beach). Be sure to take your lunch, a good book and your swim wear! I guarantee you can spend all day there it's like the place that time forgets and the best bit about it, is that it nevers gets crowded - you're own little bit of paradsise... Pembrokeshire Paradise!

The Traves

Completely relaxing week in a lovely secluded spot yet near enough to well supplied shop at Square and Compass and the restaurants in Porthgain. Weather changed daily but never enough to keep you indoors.

The Warboys

Have really enjoyed our week in your comfortable cottage - so quiet and peaceful! Skomer Marine Nature Reserve worth a visit. The Shed at Porthgain really does serve delicious fish and chips, but you do need to book! Look forward to visiting again.

The Llewellyn Family

Amazing cottage in a fantastic location. First time to stay with Coastal Cottages and will definitely be coming back. Ideal for outdoor kids and dogs. Fish and chips at The Shed (Porthgain).

The Parkers

Lovely time in a cosy cottage with sea views. Walking as good as ever with wild flowers everywhere.

The Twycross Family

A beautiful place to spend a perfect week away from stressful lives. Such a treat to see our dog the way she should be - running through fields and splashing in the sea! Amazing coastline walks, breathtaking views and a homely cottage. We can't wait to come back again soon! Thank you!

The Leavey Family

LUCKY, LUCK US!! We have had absolutely brilliant weather - sunny and hot every day until today when we are leaving. We've spent most of the week body boarding and walking the beautiful coastline. WHAT A WONDERFUL WEEK! We don't want to go!! Lovely, cosy, friendly house. Great to come back to and wake up in.
