Broad Haven's westerly facing sands offer excellent conditions for kite-surfing, kite-buggying, walking and sandcastle building.
It’s not hard to see why this beach is one of the most popular windsurfing beaches in this area and home to Haven Sports water sports shop. There is a car park at the southern end of the beach opposite Haven Sports and a larger car park a small distance from the beach at the North End of the bay.

Little Haven
Little Haven is a picturesque old fishing village with steep streets that descend to a sandy beach with a slipway for small boats, including the local inshore rescue boat. The beach itself is popular with swimmers, divers and kayaks in the summer months. At low tide you can walk along the beach to Broad Haven, passing Settlands on the way, there are numerous caves and rock pools to explore however Settlands is only accessible at low tide so be careful not to get cut off here.
Broad Haven
Druidstone Haven can be found by following the winding coastal road between Nolton Haven and Broad Haven. It is a well hidden, long and sandy beach, enclosed on three sides by spectacular cliffs. Access to the beach is by two fairly steep footpaths. There are no amenities on the beach, but the nearby Druidstone Hotel has a good menu and a lovely outdoor seating area, providing the most glorious views of the beach and as far out to sea as the eye can see.
There is only limited parking on the side of the coastal road, but it is also possible to stop here on the Puffin Shuttle Bus.
The cove of Nolton Haven is a small inlet of pebbles and sand. At low tide it's revealed to be a long and narrow beach, perfectly suited to sunbathers, as it has the added advantage of being sheltered by high cliffs on either side. With the car park behind the beach, Nolton Haven is a good starting point for excellent cliff-top walks along parts of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, finished off with lunch in the Mariners Arms!
St Ishmaels
A large expanse of subtly coloured sand is revealed at this estuary when the tide retreats. Suitable for bathing, although swift currents do arise at some stages of the tide. There are many rock pools for youngsters to explore as well as the stream and stepping stones on the western side - care needed when tide is coming in. There is a free car park on the grass which is adjacent to the footpath.
This lovely and secluded beach is also open to dogs all year around.

Once you get to the sand, you'll know it was worth the little stroll!
Newgale
Newgale provides the ideal location for watersports. There is always plenty of space on the long, two mile stretch of flat sand and whilst the Atlantic Ocean rollers ensure some exciting surf, it is an ideal beach for the young and not so expert. There is a cafe at both ends of the beach, the Duke of Edinburgh Inn is located on the seafront and there are regular visits by the ice cream van in the summer.
Dale
The sheltered bay of Dale is perfect for watersports - home to sailing, windsurfing and a watersports centre. Dale has a mostly shingle beach with some sand at low tide and an attractive seafront. Car parking is plentiful in the purpose built car park just across the road from the beach.
West Dale is a stunning, secluded cove enclosed by towering cliffs and accessed only via steps from the Coastal Path - either by footpath through Dale or by parking on the roadside (very limited). At low tide, this tranquil little spot of sand makes the perfect spot for a bit of sunbathing and relaxing.
This is where King Henry VII, born at Pembroke Castle, landed his army on the way to the battle of Bosworth. West Dale is very popular with surfers, at its best between low and mid tide - although its not for the inexperienced surfer and make sure you know where the rocks are!

Pembrokeshire Motor Museum has over forty motor cars on display, from veteran cars to classic cars. For each car on display, you can see a complete history. All cars are in excellent condition and are occasionally used by their owners for vintage car rallies etc. so please bear in mind that cars may not always be on display. The Motor Museum is also home to a licensed bar, a magazine and video lounge where you can read and watch all about motoring.
Milford Haven
The Museum is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Milford Haven. The Museum collection reflects all of these aspects of the town's history, but focuses particularly on the maritime history. The Museum is a voluntarily run museum.
Originally constructed in the 12th Century as a fortress made from timber, and has seen visits from a number of famous names including Oliver Cromwell and King Richard II. The castle was later reconstructed in stone, and was often used to house prisoners before being replaced by a new prison building inside the castle grounds in the 19th Century. This building is now home to the Pembrokeshire Records Office. Not much remains of the stone castle other than the stone wall which grandly looks upon the small town below it. A must-visit is the Town Museum, located in the Old Prison Governor's House. With artefacts, prints, paintings and models, this museum tells the history of the castle and the surrounding town.

A military fortress, museum and cafe located within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The museum at Chapel Bay Fort is illustrated and explains military technology and weaponry through the ages, with a variety of displays including artillery and associated tools and instruments, WW I, Bomb Disposal and Waterloo amongst others. Volunteers are on hand to answer any question and add to your appreciation of the displays.

Guided tours are conducted by a dedicated team of volunteers and provide access to areas of the fort which are otherwise out of bounds to the public. Tours present further information about Chapel Bay Fort and the defences of Milford Haven and the Royal Dockyard at Pembroke Dock, alongside information about the large exhibits displayed on the terreplein of the fort.

A tour lasts approximately 40 minutes, and is included in the entrance fee to the museum.

Solva Woollen Mill is the oldest working woollen mill in Pembrokeshire and is now the only mill in Wales specialising in flat woven carpets, rugs and runners. Its a family business but visitors are welcome to the mill to wander through the weaving sheds, chat to the weavers as they are warping, splitting yarn or weaving. There is a mill shop housed carding engines and spinning mules and a tearoom which is located in the old dye shed, selling tea, coffee and homemade cakes.
Pembroke Dock's Flying Boat Centre is unique to the UK. Learn about the RAF Pembroke Dock, the worlds largest flying boat station and the famous Sunderland and Battle of the Atlantic.
Built in the 13th Century, this castle is half fortified manor house and half fully developed medieval castle surrounded by forty acres of land and gardens. The castle and gardens is closed over the winter months for essential maintenance but is open for special occasions. Please Note: Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
Scolton Manor was built in 1842 as a family home, and was even used as a hospital during World War 2. It is now a Victorian Manor House and Museum, set in a luxurious 60 acres of country park and woodland, with a wide variety of wildlife. The park is open all year, whilst the Manor House is closed during the winter months. The Manor House will be opening again in March 2015, and times will be confirmed nearer the time. Please Note: Admission to the Park is free, whilst charges to the Manor House apply. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times, and are allowed in the Park only.
The birthplace of Saint David, this Chapel was built in 1934 on the site of the original house where Non had lived. The Chapel and its accompanying Holy Well were built in dedication to Saint Non, and have since become popular destinations for pilgrimages. Legend has it that springs appeared at each of the significant milestones of Saint David's life, and many believe this Holy Well appeared during his birth and holds many special healing powers.
A popular destination for pilgrimages, this Cathedral is a huge attraction for those interested in Welsh history and/or religion. St. David's Cathedral as we know it today replaced a monastery which was originally founded on the site by Saint David around 589 AD. Not only is it named after our Patron Saint of Wales, but it also contains a shrine to him. The Cathedral still operates a traditional communion service and also holds various special events such as the annual Cathedral Festival. Please note: Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

Customer Reviews of Puffin Cottage

Loyd Williams family

We have had a lovely holiday in this beautiful, well-equipped cottage. There is so much to see and we have visited St David’s, Solva, Stackpole Quays and walked to Little Haven at low tide. Lovely that everywhere is so dog friendly. We have plans to return.

Deary Family

Thank you for a lovely holiday in your beautiful cottage! Brilliant beach/rock pools/waves and lots to explore along the coastal path. Puffin bus is a great idea so only walking in one direction! Thank you for all your thoughtful fittings etc in the cottage (and wine!)

Carey-Harrison family

We had a wonderful holiday in this wonderful holiday home. We took the coastal bus to bus to St David’s and visited Narberth, (recommend the beach and surf school) in Newgale. And a day out at Dale which also offers water sports. Solva was definitely the best place for crabbing. (Recommend a night out at Little Haven). The Castle pub food was fantastic! Thank you for the lovely wine!

Howell family

WOW! We have had such an amazing week in your fabulous holiday home. It has everything we could have wished for and more (even sunshine!). Grace (4) and Joseph (1) have loved all the wonderful beaches, especially ‘our’ beach just down the road. Many many thanks.

BOURGUIGNON FAMILY

What a lovely holiday home you have created! We have had a really nice stay and enjoyed all the facilities – you have made family life on holiday very easy. We have stayed in 2 other places in Broad Haven before and this is the nicest. We have had great days on the beach, also visited St David’s, Little Haven and Druidstone Haven. Amazing food at The Castle in Little Haven, the Druidstone Hotel and at The Swan Inn. Chips on the beach from the Ocean Café also nice. We look forward to coming back really soon.

ANDY, KAYLA and STITCH

This was our second visit to Broad Haven, this time with our dog Stitch! It is our first stay in Puffin Cottage and we plan to come back next year for a mini honeymoon so that we can include Stitch. Beautiful cottage and location, we want to live here!

ANDY, ANITA and SNEAKERS

Our first trip to Broad Haven. The cottage is very comfortable and we enjoyed having the beach on our doorstep, especially at low tide. Our highlights included seeing seals and their pups near St Brides, the coast path in general but particularly between St David’s and Newgale, Marloes beach and a delicious meal at the Griffin Inn at Dale. We certainly plan to return – plenty more to explore.

JEAN and MERVYN BEDDOE

The village of Broad Haven is easily reached from Haverfordwest along the B4341. Parking is available in an unmade up car park across the road from the cottage. However, it may be possible to park on the double yellow lines outside for loading and unloading purposes.

There is a dropped pavement leading to a gate opening of approx. 85cm.

From the road to the front door is a level path of approx. 18 metres.

The front garden is laid to lawn with a small paved area in front of the cottage with a wooden seat.

French doors from the kitchen open to an enclosed rear garden, which is split level. The large lower patio has two steps each approx. 15 cm high at the far end. The upper patio is reached by 5 steps, each approx. 18 cm high, and contains patio furniture.

External lighting is available at front and back via switches adjacent to exterior doors.

The ground floor is tiled throughout, apart from the sitting room which is carpeted.

On the ground floor is a kitchen/diner with very good natural light in the kitchen area and a utility with a separate cloaks (wc/whb). There are extensive worktops, including a breakfast bar with under-counter fridge and freezer. Oven and dishwasher are also under-counter.

TV with Teletext operated by remote control.

Carpeted stairs lead off the dining area to the first floor where the bedrooms are situated, and the first three steps have no handrail. Sturdy handrail alongside main body of staircase, which is well lit.

En-suite bathroom and shower room both have good lighting.

Guide dog welcome.

Bus stop with shelter on the sea front opposite local shop approx. 200 metres from cottage. Buses from here go to Haverfordwest. Also the ‘Puffin Shuttle’ stops here which links places on the Coastal Path from St David’s to Martin’s Haven – which is daily in summer and less frequently in winter.
