About Roch Castle

Roch Castle, dating back to the 12th century has been magnificently restored to offer a fabulous, luxurious holiday home set within Pembrokeshire’s famous Coastal National Park. Fulfil your dream of staying in this dramatic grade I listed Castle, its naturally elevated position maximises stunning views over rolling green countryside to the Preseli Hills or out over the beautiful coastline with St Brides Bay spread out before you.

From the moment you sweep up the stone steps to the main entrance, you will be transported to a bygone age, soak up its unique historical atmosphere, beautifully restored stone features, winding stone staircase and turret windows blend wonderfully with the contemporary furnishings, with striking symmetry. On entering the rounded entrance hall, you are sure of a warm welcome, marvel at the exposed section of bedrock on which Roch Castle is built. The modern fitted kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals.

The 3 rosette Blas Restaurant at the sister hotel, Twr y Felin, in St Davids, 20 minutes away.

The 6 bedrooms, all ensuite, nestle within the Castle walls, offering luxurious comfort with varying beautiful sea views or out over the countryside, St Davids and St Brides are on the lower ground floor while Ap Gruffydd and Nest are in the middle of the Castle, with De Rupe and Lucy Walters on the highest floors, which are accessed by winding stone staircases, but the glorious views make them worth the climb.

The Court Room is a spacious lounge with comfortable sofas to relax on, with a tiny Chapel and cloisters areas but the best space has to be the Sun Room with its floor to ceiling glass, giving almost 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside and out to the coast. This opens to an outside terrace on the battlements, you will be simply mesmerised on a clear day, you can see for miles.

Surrounded by lawned grounds with mature trees, a meadow and the rock, there is plenty of space to just relax. Ideally positioned to explore this beautiful county, the stunning long sandy beach at Newgale is only 2 miles away, famous for its surfing, both beginners and professionals will be entertained, try your hand at the variety of water sports on offer from the hire centre. There are a choice of a beachside pub and cafes to choose from during a day on the beach. Take to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to explore this stunning coastline on foot. The picturesque fishing harbour village of Solva has a selection of shops, pubs, cafes and galleries to explore, while the tiny City of St Davids should not be missed with its magnificent Cathedral and Bishops Palace, as well as a range of excellent facilities. In the opposite direction is the long sandy beach at Broad Haven or the pretty, sheltered cove of Little Haven.  Boat trips from St Justinians to Ramsey Island will delight bird and wildlife enthusiasts, especially in September with the arrival of the seal pups, or an early morning trip to Skomer Island to see the puffins from May to June. Whitesands beach, again, popular with surfers and families has been voted one of the top 20 best beaches in the world!

A truly unforgettable holiday experience awaits any visitor to Roch Castle.
