Swanswell Cottage is a delightful, detached cottage in the grounds of the owner’s house set only a 5 minute walk above Broad Haven, with its glorious sandy beach and facilities. From the moment you arrive, down the private drive you will relax surrounded by the owners mature landscaped grounds of 2 acres which you are free to enjoy with an ornamental lake and fountain, as well as a large lawned paddock, there is plenty of space with only fields beyond and a stunning view over Broad Haven, St Brides Bay and out to sea. Comfortably furnished throughout, the dining area of the open plan living space has sliding doors opening out on to a paved patio and prettily planted lawn, a real sun trap where you can enjoy an alfresco meal; while the double aspect lounge offers lovely views with Broad Haven, the shimmering sea and St Brides Bay laid out below you, sliding doors lead out to a decked raised balcony, the perfect spot to soak up the glorious views over the pond and out to sea. Two cosy bedrooms complete the picture.
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Broad Haven village, everything is still within walking distance with an excellent water sports hire centre, a selection of pubs to choose from and a well-stocked village shop. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is nearby and is perfect for exploring this excellent coastline, walk over the headland to Little Haven with its picturesque cove and choice of pubs and restaurants to try.

Tenby's much-loved Arts Festival returns to the seaside town for another year. With a host of music, drama and art, the Arts Festival is sure to have something to interest everyone. There will be a range of performances, talks and workshops for all to see.

This October, the popular ghost story of The Woman In Black comes to the Torch Theatre in a great spine-chilling stage play. Arthur Kipps is invited to tell a ghost story and so recalls his past experiences encountering the "woman in black". According to the legends, she haunts Eel Marsh House and every time she is seen, a child dies. What will be the outcome of the ghost story?The play is recommended for those aged 14 and over. Booking in advance is recommended, tickets start at £8.
The West Wales Wool Show in Narberth is a celebration of all things woolly. From beautifully hand crafted items, clothing and footwear to knitting wool, fleece and all the equipment needed to make at home. Demonstrations run throughout the day with stall holders sharing their skills and knowledge with visitors plus wool skill workshops such as felting. The main aim of the show is to support local wool producers and small craft businesses. Wool as a renewable resource is still undervalued and the show aims to bring this wonderful natural resource back into focus. The show is run by the Pembrokeshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers with support from PLANED. The 2016 show will be kindly sponsored by Emily’s Funky Knits in conjunction with Amroth Bay Holidays and by Esgair Fibres.
200 voices unite at St Davids Cathedral for A Journey of World Music on Saturday 15th October. This concerts stars the Hywel Girls' Choir and Hywel Boy Singers, the Llanelli Choral Society, the Haverfordwest Male Voice Choir and the Angelicus Chorale. Music will include songs such as Ave Maria, the Hallelujah Choras, Nessun Dorma, Aida's Grand March and Phantom of the Opera. The concert begins at 7.30pm and booking in advance is recommended. Held in St Brides Orchard next to St Brides Bay and the ancient church of St Bridget, St Brides. A fantastic event and opportunity to glimpse inside the courtyard of the original Kensington Castle (dating circa 1500's), to see apple pressing using the orchard's apples and ancient craft skills such as basket/willow weaving and wood carving. Teas, coffees, cakes and jars of homemade jams and chutneys for purchase in our 'Apple Cafe' with all money raised in support of St Brides and Marloes churches. Entry to the Apple Day event is free - a wonderful day out, even if its raining.

Something spooky is going on this week at Folly Farm. Bring your little monsters to Folly Farm,It's going to be wicked! They have creepy pet handling, freaky face painting and spooky prize trails and card hunts. So, if you'd like to hold a rat or cuddle a cockroach, they are heading to the dark side for the whole of our local half term holiday - 22-30 October. Milford's Torch Theatre once again brings a classic pantomime to stage - a must-see for anyone staying in Pembrokeshire this Christmas! The baby Princess Rose is given a curse from the evil Maleficent stating she will die on her 16th birthday but her Fairy Godmother steps in and Rose instead falls into a deep sleep which can only be broken by a handsome prince - this is sure to be a fantastic production by the Torch Theatre once again! 2016 marks the 46th year of the Annual Boxing Day Swim on Tenby's North Beach - a truly great event which really does get the whole community involved! A perfect way to bring in the new year, Victoria Hall in Roch is hosting their annual New Years celebrations with a bonfire and fireworks. A firm favourite with our regular visitors, Picton Castle's Easter Egg Trail for children is a self-guided scamper through fabulous woodlands as they burst into bloom. Collect your leaflet at the Ticket Office and follow the trail – you will find clues along the way! When you have finished, pop into the Gift Shop to collect your prize. It's a great way for the whole family to enjoy the woodlands as masses of Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Magnolias come into flower. While the kids rush around in search of clues, the ‘grown-ups' can enjoy the magnificent colours and scents. After the walk, what better reward than a nice warming cup of hot chocolate with cream and a homemade cake in the Courtyard Restaurant, or perhaps make it a lunchtime visit and enjoy the Spanish dish of the day with a glass of wine or beer! The St Davids Cathedral Festival takes place across ten days with a range of classical and contemporary musical performances taking place in the beautiful setting of St Davids Cathedral. This event is a success year after year, and is definitely one not to be missed. Performers in the past have included the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, The Sixteen, Goodwick Brass Band. The triathlon with a difference is back once again! Spread across the three days, the Wales Swim takes place on the Friday night on Tenby North Beach, the Sportive on the Saturday and the Marathon on the Sunday. Athletes can opt for just one event or all three meaning everyone who wants to can get involved! Children can even get involved on the Friday in the Taff Kids event! It really is a great event with an exciting atmosphere, athletes and supporters are encouraged to get involved for the whole weekend!
With two different distances available, you can either enter the Middle Distance Ocean Lava event which is made up of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile cycle and a 13.1 mile run; or the Wales Triathlon Sprint Distance which is made up of a 750m swim, a 13 mile cycle and a 4 mile run. Whether you're an athlete or a spectator, supporters line the streets creating an amazing atmosphere and energy which definitely makes this event a must-see!
A military fortress, museum and cafe located within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The museum at Chapel Bay Fort is illustrated and explains military technology and weaponry through the ages, with a variety of displays including artillery and associated tools and instruments, WW I, Bomb Disposal and Waterloo amongst others. Volunteers are on hand to answer any question and add to your appreciation of the displays.
Guided tours are conducted by a dedicated team of volunteers and provide access to areas of the fort which are otherwise out of bounds to the public. Tours present further information about Chapel Bay Fort and the defences of Milford Haven and the Royal Dockyard at Pembroke Dock, alongside information about the large exhibits displayed on the terreplein of the fort.
A tour lasts approximately 40 minutes, and is included in the entrance fee to the museum.
Our second stay at Swanswell and we have enjoyed another wonderful week - a lovely, warm, comfortable and well equipped cottage, very welcoming and a home from home...with better views! We will look forward to a return visit next year! Thank you.

We have had a great week . Lovely weather , fantastic views and sunsets from cottage enjoyed the coast walk and Druidston ( Hotel good for lunch , garden has amazing views of bay)and walk in field from St Brides bay and Marloes and back . Solva has pretty harbour worth a visit. Broad haven , Newgale beaches are fab. Nice afternoon in St David's and then coast walk from Porthclaus. Managed to see last puffins on skomer before they left . The castle good for lunch in little haven and Ceris café in little haven for tea and cake! Nice To meet Elizabeth Pete and gorgeous dogs! x .

A wonderful 2 weeks in sunny Pembrokeshire ( only got wet once) A lovely cottage with beautiful views and even better sunsets. Enjoyed watching the wren with her baby chicks, the rabbit and a visit most mornings by the buzzard.
