About Swn y Mor

Listen to the sound of the sea from the sun filled terrace or curl up in front of the fire - whatever the weather, Swn y Mor is a relaxing home from home in the most delightful setting only yards away from both Abereiddy beach, The Blue Lagoon and the wonderful National Trust Coastal Path which links into the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

Newly and sympathetically renovated throughout, it provides quality accommodation all on one level, using traditional materials of lime, slate and quarry tiles yet with the modern comfort of underfloor heating supplied using green technology of an air sourced heat pump and solar panels. The hallway opens up to a well-equipped fitted kitchen, with breakfast table and electric range cooker, enjoy leisurely meals in the dining room which leads through to the sitting room, the wood burning stove ensures a cosy feel whatever the weather outside. Off the hallway lie two double bedrooms, one with an ensuite shower room, twin bedroom and family bathroom. The utility area is ideal for drying your outdoor gear and there is a shed for storing bikes, surfboards and hanging wet suits after you have used the outdoor cold shower. The back door leads out to a paved terrace with outdoor entertainment area. Enjoy barbecues on summer evenings or gather round the fire pit and watch the stars twinkle overhead, the dark skies really are amazing. Alternatively, there is a decked terrace where you can relax and soak up the wonderful views over Abereiddy beach and out to sea, while you listen to the waves breaking on the beach.

Spend your days on the blue sandy beach just yards from your door, the more active will enjoy trying a variety of water sports - Abereiddy is a favourite for both surfers and kayakers and the nearby Blue Lagoon is a regular haunt of divers and coasteering. Keen walkers can take to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to explore this stunning coastline on foot with its craggy cliffs and hidden coves and sheltered harbours. Traeth Llyfn, one of Pembrokeshire’s most beautiful beaches, is only 1 mile away and is well worth the climb down the steps, while Porthgain harbour with its popular pub, The Sloop Inn and art gallery, are only ½ mile further on. Beyond that is the village of Trefin with a pub and Aberfelin beach lies below. To the west lies Whitesands beach, a glorious sandy beach popular with families, as well as surfers. Other nearby attractions include Tregwynt Woollen Mill and Strumble Head with a bird observatory and lighthouse. Take a trip to the harbour town of Fishguard with its farmers market, or a visit to the tiny historic city of St Davids with its wonderful Cathedral and Bishops Palace, excellent shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants are a must.

An ideal holiday base for couples and families alike, Swn y Mor is an idyllic retreat offering a warm welcome to all.

Love this fantastic dreamy house, will surely return - great to get away from everything. New year on the beach with all the stars unforgettable, wood fires roaring to get new ideas, drawing, colours, love it!

The Wagerfields

We are so sad to be leaving Swn y Mor after a wonderful week, but we go home refreshed in mind body and spirit with the sound of the sea still in our ears and the beautiful views and sunsets still in our minds eye. Its been a delight after an exhilarating week along the cliff paths spotting seals to return to this warm, comfortable cottage - it's our favourite by far. Our stay here has had several highlights apart from the beauty of our surroundings: A boat trip round Ramsey Island. Not many sea birds this time of year but many seal families with pups and most interesting geology. Evening song at St Davids Cathedral, wonderful singing from the choir. An ear splitting, glittering fireworks display at Solva (Nov 5th) a great and very popular local event. It's all added up to a great memorable week. Many thanks - we'll try to return (for the third time) next year

The Gardner family

A wonderful week on the coast - generally very lucky with the weather - two gloriuos days spent down at White sands. Thank you for a lovely visit

The Bishop family

We have had a lovely week in your warm, comfortable cottage

Carroll & Steve

Sitting in the kitchen, lamb casserole in the aga, coats hanging on hooks to dry out! Don't despair though, we sat out on the terrace to eat nearly every night this week - this cottage is so cosy when it rains, the occasional downpours are almost welcome! The beach to the right hand side of Abereiddy is lovely (when tide is out: much quieter) Walks to Porthgain & Trevin are easy. Pub at Trevin very quiet and basic but may be better at weekends. A wonder around headland at Solva gives wonderful views. Swn y Mor was much appreciated - Thank you

John & Alison Bole

Have just spent a very enjoyable 2 weeks here - beautiful location and a very comfortable house. No mobile phone signal at the house was a delight!

Pamela & Bill

This comfortable and cosy cottage must be one of the best Pembrokeshire cottages we've stayed in. Had a nice relaxing week with plenty of fresh air and exercise - the walk along the cliffs to Porthgain takes about an hour

The Eskes family

Warm and comfy. Dinas head & St Davids head walks great! Porthgain and back also a good walk - Would love to come back.

The Ryder family

A lovely seaside cottage in the countryside. Lovely cosy kitchen & sitting room - we ate in the kitchen as it was so warm. No telephone! We had a nice easter week here, a few days were unexpectedly but nicely sunny! We went on some nice little walks in the surrounding area and we played on the beach quite a bit! Lovely Cottage in an ideal location! very windy but sunny all the same and practically no rain through our whole visit! Lovely cosy sitting room and kitchen nice and warm. Some good local walks and beach good for playing rounders. There was too little time to do everything we wanted to do but had a lovely day out at Porthgain, Solva and St Davids. Loved all the art galleries around.

Marilyn Thomas

A very peaceful and happy week in this lovely cottage which is both homely and welcoming. A wonderful place for grandchildren who are so safe at the beach with plenty of lovely stones and shells to collect. The amenities are first class and during our stay it was heartfully warm throughout the cottage - easy to sleep, more difficult to wake up!

Abi O'Connor, 12

I really enjoyed our stay, there is a lot to do and I liked being close to the beach and climbing over the rocks. We spent time trying to find fossils and we found quite a lot. We hope to come back soon.

Eddie O'Connor age 9

I had a greattime staying here. I liked the beach because there are rocks to climb an and past the rocks there is another beach which i liked because nobody else came. We will definitely come back again.

Jessie Normaschild

Fabtastic Cottage, cosy, very relaxing. Spent a lot of time in the kitchen, talking drinking tea, etc... One of the loveliest cottages I've been to! Spectacular scenery, a magical place, opens my mind and wows me. Beautiful place. Walk to Porthgain is brilliant. Aga is warm and great to cook on. Definitely want to return!

Dave and Holly

From the moment we picked up the key from under the stone, we fell in love with Swn Y Mor. Thank you!

Joe age 9

Enjoyed going down the beach and fishing!

Mike and Sand Kent

We thoroughly enjoyed our week here at Swn Y Mor. The cottage provided a homely and spacious base in one of the best spots along the coast. The aga cooked the bass we caught off the beach to perfection. The walk to Whitesands and back was nearly a step too far - thank heavens for a big bath and ample hot water on our return.

David Grindley and Gill Champion

Abereiddy was my childhood playground. Used to camp on the beach by the seashore in the 50s and 60s. The cottage is just great and being back here and enjoying the atmosphere was a real tonic. We would love to come back one day when we have more time.

Jones and Gormans

Our stay at this cosy cottage has been a delight. Wonderful coastal walks, wildflowers and weather. We would love to come back soon.

Liz, Clive, Flick Eykyn

A lovely cottage which is full of character. We had a lovely stay here, which was made even better with the fantastic beach which was quite literally down the garden path. It was lovely to hear the waves crashing on the beach when the windows were open. All in all a fantastic holiday in a wonderful cottage, thanks.

The Jacobs

This is our 3rd stay at Swn Y Mor - we enjoy it very much each time. The cottage is very comfortable and is always very clean and tidy. We love the aga - its been fun to cook with and the cottage is always lovely and warm. We'll be back!!

Sian, Ceri, Sarah and Nick

This is one of the lovliest cottages we've stayed in and we will miss it. Had a great time coasteering and jumping off into the lagoon! Thanks for a great stay - hope to be back very soon!
