About Ty Bychan

A charming, detached bungalow, Ty Bychan is set on a quiet residential cul-de-sac in the village of Dinas where there are two local pubs and shops within walking distance, while you are only half a mile from the popular, sandy beach of Pwllgwaelod.

Renovated throughout in a contemporary style, it is a comfortable and quality holiday home. The lounge/diner with leather sofas to cosy up on after a busy day exploring, leads to the sunny conservatory, a peaceful spot to sit and really appreciate the view to the fields beyond and up to the imposing and rugged Dinas Mountain. French doors open out to the enclosed and lawned rear garden and paved patio; ideal for dining alfresco. The newly installed kitchen for 2022 makes an exciting addition to the cottage.

Conveniently located with a shop, fish and chip shop and two pubs all within walking distance in Dinas itself. A short downhill walk will also take you to the beautiful sandy cove at Pwllgwaelod with its beachside pub, The Ship Inn, take to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to really marvel at this stunning coastline. Take in the circular walk round Dinas Head to Cwm Yr Eglwys.

Take advantage of the Poppit Rocket for the return journey when venturing further afield, walking through the hidden valley of Aberfforest with its waterfall and pretty inlet and on to the bustling town of Newport with its excellent range of pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops and galleries. There is a beautiful golden sandy beach at Newport, set on the Nevern estuary, teaming with bird and wildlife, while keen golfers will be stunned by the beautiful sea view from the local golf course, enjoy a meal after a round at the popular Cat Rock Café. Newport has a strong maritime history and is loved by sailing enthusiasts and kayakers alike. Alternatively, head west to Aberbach Bay and the popular market town of Fishguard with its picturesque quay and range of facilities. From here the coastline becomes more rugged, take in Strumble Head with its lighthouse and regular sightings of seals and onto a number of hidden coves including Abermawr, Abercastle, Porthgain and Abereiddy and the Blue Lagoon.

A perfect holiday home for couples and families alike from which to explore.

This is a really lovely bungalow and so well appointed. Thank you for the Welsh cakes and milk, a most welcoming thought. Some lovely local places to eat, very friendly. Loved the garden and so peaceful.

Anonymous

We had a wonderful stay here with hot any sunny weather. Recommend Dinas Island walk. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Anonymous

This is the fourth year we have stayed in Ty Bychan with our little dog. We love the fully enclosed garden and think the reconfiguration of the kitchen area is brilliant. We love the location, we have felt very at home.

What a wonderful well equipped bungalow. Everything has been thought of. Wonderful weather, visited the local beach and Newport Sands.

'What a great place, we will be back despite the weather, gales and winds but we love it. The bungalow is well equipped and it's the best place for my sister. We will come back, thank you! December 2019

'Ty Bychan has been a lovely home from home and thank you for the milk and the welsh cakes to greet us when we arrived. The weather forecast promised severe weather sweeping in from the Atlantic but we have actually had blue skies with just a stiff breeze. Has been very refreshing to visit old haunts that we visited 45yrs ago. Thank you' October 2019

Geoff and Margaret

'We very much enjoyed our stay at Ty Bychan. It was an ideal base for touring the area and we hope to re-visit in the future. ' September/October 2019

Carl & Barbara

'We have enjoyed a lovely week in this very clean, well equipped cottage. We especially liked the conservatory and the garden. We've had great meals at the Golden Lion in Newport and The Sloop in Porthgain. We enjoyed the many walks this area has to offer, in particular the walk around Dinas Head. Thank you very much for the milk and welshcakes, we would love to revisit at some point in the future' Sept 2019

Bruce, Helen, Connor and Rory

'An excellent house and base. The walk around Dinas Island is a must and the views from Carn Ingli are superb. Hope to be back again.' August 2019

Janet and Peter and Sammie the dog

A comfortable cottage in a beautiful part of the world. The weather was variable, not warm enough to sit in the garden, but the dog enjoyed the safe outdoor space. We managed some walks and recommend the coffee and scones at the David Light Gallery on the way down to Pwllgwaelod Bay. We also discovered the Bara Brith coffee shop on a local walk. Both places very dog friendly. as is the Freemasons Arms in Dinas Cross. Thank you for a lovely stay and the welcoming milk and welsh cakes.

Kathleen and Barry Austin and Alfie the dog

‘We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, for us it was a home from home. We would love to return late September if it was vacant. Once again, many thanks’ May 2019

The visit was wonderful in such a nice position and very well appointed. All three of us including our dog Sabi loved it so relaxing. You the agents were so good and efficient.

Jo and Emrys Jones

‘A very pleasant stay in your well equipped ‘cottage’. We were able to complete our Coastal walk and revisit sections close by. It was really helpful to be able to keep our bicycles in the garage when not in use’

Doug and Christine Gale and Bella

‘Enjoyed our stay here. Very well kept property and conservatory an added bonus! Would definitely recommend this property and location, back garden well ideal for dogs.’

Luke, Sophie and baby Freddie

‘Thank you for letting us spend a lovely few days at your beautiful cottage. We have had a lovely time, Folly Farm, Newport beach, The Castle Inn for Sunday lunch and some lovely walks. It has all been amazing! ‘

The Webb family

‘Wonderful cottage with a beautiful enclosed garden which my grandchildren and our dogs have loved. Fabulous area of Pembrokeshire. We have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Thank you for the welcoming tea, milk, coffee and Welshcakes – much appreciated. We would love to return! ‘

Emrys and Liz

‘We wanted a few days quiet time and came across this cottage. What a delight! Ideally situated and spotlessly clean with all necessary amenities. If you like beaches this is ideally situated, fell in love with Cwm yr Eglwys – what a picture . A great little cottage’.

Jean, Don and Marley

‘This bungalow is an ideal base on all counts. Comfortable, plenty of room and a garden the dog loved. So nice having a view from the back and so quiet at night. The coastline is stunning. The location of the bungalow with the choice of 3 pubs all serving food and an excellent fish shop ensured minimal cooking! Lots of places don’t live up to the magnificent scenery of Cumbria but Pembrokeshire certainly does. Thank you for the welshcakes and milk. A cup of tea was just what was needed after an 8½ hour journey.’

Terry, Gail and Millie Moo (German Shepherd)

‘We have fallen in love with Ty Bychan. It’s such a well laid out bungalow in such a great location. The Garden is great, we had so many bees visiting the wild flowers and thoroughly enjoyed watching the antics of the local bird life instructing their young in flying lessons. The view of Dinas Head, everchanging in different light and times of day. Oh, and no (or very little) traffic noise …bliss! Absolutely stunning , a holiday to remember ‘

Barbara and Ray Garside

'Lovely place to stay in a beautiful area. Also had great weather. Thanks for milk and welshcakes'

Ann Moloney

‘Comfortable and well equipped bungalow, lovely views from garden- and totally quiet with no traffic noise! Thank you for milk and welshcakes. If you don’t want to go too far for a good lunch, try Bara Brith in the vestry at Talor Chapel, Bwlchmawr. Lovely salads, quiches etc and cake. ‘

Wendy and Keith

'A short unexpected mini break and we chose the right place in Ty Bychan – we have been to Dinas before many years ago at Christmas time. A beautiful bungalow full of what we are looking for! The utter peace was so much appreciated, we could have stayed all day in Ty Bychan – but like to explore old and new places and this we did, lots of walking, some areas quite steep so advise checking before you leave. Cannot help with local pubs or food as we did not go to any this time. Village shop has been there for years, well stocked, friendly and full of helpful information. Besides the two local beaches we would recommend Poppit Sands and Newport beach. There are many more coastal walks that have amazing views. We had fish and chips at The Golden Lion, Newport, it is expensive but delicious (dog friendly) and ate at Ocean Lab in Fishguard. As usual not too many places open on a Monday so do check. Will recommend to friends and hope to come again.'

Joan and Albert Mytton

'Thank you for the milk and welshcakes, they were much appreciated. Lovely bungalow- spotless. We went to the ship aground on the evening of our arrival. Julian and Alison were very welcoming, had a very good meal so went again later in the week. Enjoyed our cliff walks in the area. '

Geoff Brier

‘Lovely ! Nice clean and welcoming, only down for a short break but will be back thank you.’

Kevin Thomas and Sarah Evans

'Nice clean bungalow, comfortable all well laid out. We have no dogs but this bungalow is much tidier than lots of places we've stayed that don't take dogs. Our 10 year old loves Cwm yr Eglwys. Best Wishes'

Ellie, Tim, Teresa, Layla and Travis the dog

What a fantastic retreat! The whole family (Layla 19 months, Mummy, Daddy, Grandma and Travis the dog) feel refreshed and relaxed - even with long coastal walks and a cold dip in the sea! The beaches here are lovely - we would recommend Aberporth near Cardigan for a fish & chip beach delight if you fancy a trip a bit further, and Newport is fab! Thank you for keeping such a lovely cottage.

Viv, Gary and Flynn the Collie

Nice bungalow , clean, warm and well equipped. Good situation for walks and the coast. Lovely and quiet, friendly locals.

Eryl and Pippa

Cottage very comfortable. Enjoyed cliff walks with lovely views. All very quiet, peaceful and relaxing.

Rosemary, Andy and Roxy

We've had a lovely week here, even the weather was good. The bungalow is very comfortable, warm and well furnished. We especially enjoyed the views over the garden to the hills. Its a bit different from North London! The enclosed garden was appreciated by our lurcher. Lots of friendly pubs in the area. Many walks with beautiful scenery. We all enjoyed walking on the beaches. The area has so much to see and do, thanks for a good break.

Ross and Ali

Had a great holiday. Very relaxing, which is just what we wanted. Thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location and the short walk to Pwllgwaelod for the dog to enjoy a paddle. Did loads of coast path walking enjoying the weather which was fab! Recommend the 'Voyages of Discovery' boat trip from St Davids (booked through Coastal Concierge) - great fun and we saw seal pups and seals swimming. We may well return then I can do some walks along different bits of the coast path. Feel well and truly refreshed, thank you!

Ruth, Lee and Joel - age 6

First there were 3, then there were 4, then Aunty Lisa, couldn't stay anymore. So 4 became 3 - Mam, Lee and me, enjoying the sunshine and watching TV. Trains in the garden, radio playing, I wonder how long we will be staying? Today to a place with a very long name, long ones or short ones, to me they're the same. A ride in the car, to a town with a beach, something to drink and something to eat. Then for a Crrr... with preferebly a flake, when will they learn for goodness sake! I may be Autistic, but I'm easy to please, all that I want, are more days like these! Ruth, Lee and Joel (age 6)

The Whittley Party

We have enjoyed our stay here very much, its hard to get used to how quiet it is. Lots of birds to see in the garden. Have seen lovely sunsets the best was probably at the Parrog (Newport). We also had nice meals at the Castle Inn in Newport which is very dog friendly. Hope to come here again, thank you for our stay.

Mr & Mrs Roll

Best holiday cottage by far for dog owners! Local walks are great especially the two local beaches at the bottom of the hill - nearly always had it to ourselves at sunset. Ate and loved the "Old Sailors" but you need to book ahead and they are closed on Tuesday's. Best meal was at LLys Meddyg in Newport, slightly pricey but you get what you pay for. The local shop is good - the bacon in the garage shop was so tasty you must try it! The Pant Mawr cheese shop was great fun, the guy is an entertainer and the cheese it great! We really enjoyed the Woolen Mill as Abermawr - good gift shop. St Davids is a good visit, you will be amazed at the beauty of the Cathedral and the ruin of the Monestry next to it (whether you are religious or not). Make sure you visit the Sunderland Museum at Pembroke Dock and for dog walkers look up Blackbush near Narberth for a great walk.

Mr & Mrs Moore and Billy the dog!

We have had such a wonderful week's walking! Lovely location, fantastic bungalow, very sad to leave!

Mr & Mrs Barnes

We can only endorse all that has been said. We have had a lovely holiday. The cottage has been perfect, everyone has been very friendly and the weather has been good. What more could you ask?

The Beadsmoore Family (again)

Here we are back again. We had such a good time in June we had to come back again. The weather has been very kind again. I think we need to buy a house near the sea as the dog has such a wonderful time playing in the sea. Try the historic trail around Nevern its a beautiful walk. We will be back again as this place has so much to offer.

The Beadsmoore Family

When I booked this holiday I could not have guessed how wonderful it would be. The bungalow is perfect, well furnished, clean, extremely comfortable. We fell in love with the garden with the views over the hills. Having two beaches close by allowed us to introduce our two year old collie, Dylan to the sea. He loved it and we have some pictures of him, standing in the sea waiting for the next stone to be thrown. We put some bird food in the garden, fat balls and peanuts and we were visited by - Woodpecker, Rook, Crow, Jackdaw, Jay, Sparrow, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Chaffinch, Heming Gull, Robin, Magpie and Blackbird. The views whilst walking along the coastal path were stunning. While we have been staying here we have had a couple of meals in the Golden Lion, Newport where you can take your dog and eat in the bar area. The food there was top notch. If you like beer, go for a drink at the Dyffryn Arms at Cwm Gwaun where Burton Beer is served out of a jug. The weather has been wall to wall sunshine. As this holiday has been so perfect in every way we are not looking forward to going back to the real world! But be sure of this, we are planning our next stay here.

The Gillan Party

We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years. This is the best cottage by a long, long way. Its hard to mention things that have not already been mentioned by previous visitors - the walks, the friendliness, the cleanliness, the facilities, the scenery and much else! Perhaps the thing we appreciated most is the child friendliness. There were three generations of us in our small family party. each one of us had a marvellous time. Thank you somuch for everything you did to make our stay so comfortable and special.

Helen, Mark, Caitlin and Daisy

We have had such a lovely stay. So much to see and do in this beautiful area, even on rainy days. One highlight was a visit to Melin Tregwynt woollen mill about 5 miles south of Fishguard and we were also lucky enough to be down at cwn y eglwys when the 1 mile swimming race was held this week. The best thing has been the friendliness of all the people we have met here, oh and the honey, and bread that the nice lady up at the Mall store recommended. Best toast ever. Mnay thanks for a great wek.

Mark & Sue Parkes

We've been coming to Pembrokeshire for 20 years and we think this is one of the nicest cottages you will ever stay in! Our some Jamie managed 4 days here from a 6 hour train journey from London and loved every minute of it. This cottage itself is set in beautiful surroundings and furnished lovely. A real pleasure - We will be back nxt year!!

Mr & Mrs Chard and Maureen Avery

We all had a wonderful week at the cottage. We thought the cottage was wonderful and the consevatory went down a treat. It was lovely and clean and the wet room was ideal for two elderly ladies. We got out and about every day and thought the beaches were great and the parking more reasonable. We had some lovely weather and were even able to sit out in the garden for our lumch. We enjoyed a wonderful chinese meal at the Dragon and Pearl in Haverfordwest which we highly reccomend. Adrian and I may come again at a later date with our 2 dogs, as I think they woud love it! Thank you again and hope to see you soon!

Jean, Bob & Christine

Came for a weekend to Ty Bychan as recuperation for my sister after major surgery. It has been wonderful - just what the doctor ordered! What a delightful bungalow. Having left home with dreadful weather, we woke up the next morning to Pembrokeshire sunshine. We have loved the area and found beautiful walks for 2 small dogs and lovely places for lunch. Having travelled beyond Nevern and back to St Davids and Solva. Lots moree to see and do - so we will be back.

Mick & Marion Barkus

We have had a wonderful stay at Ty Bychan. Amazed at how spacious and peaceful the bungalow was. Suprisingly well equipped. All appliances easy to use - and we loved the wet room, just up our street. Everything nice and clean. Lots to see and do, along the coast, especially for Georgie our cocker spaniel and Mick they loved Dinas Island. Found the 'salutation'(other side of Newport - 10 minute drive) a good place to dine (for adults) with dog at our feet! Would appreciate more restaurants/ pubs that allow dogs in if you know of any, because we will be returning!! Wonderful holiday!!

Valerie & Fred

A most enjoyable week in this very comfortable, spacious, bungalow so peaceful and relaxing. Once again, glorious weather for walking and getting about such a beautiful area. We look forward to our next visit.

Team LLeuson

What a lovely cottage. Well appointed - everything we needed for a fantastic week. The girls loved the garden - as did Binker the dog. Lots to see and do - Iron age village fascinating. Also Pembroek and Carew castle. Lovely walk around Dinas Island too.

Jan & Alun Allsop

We have had a wonderful time. Walked our legs off today along the coastal path to Newport. Newport is very interesting with burial chamber, old town and harbour. The Lion Inn serves a great coffee. One day of rest was a trip to the Dinas Mountain (partly by car this time) fantastic views. Then down to Cwm Gwain. Superb picnic area (with toilets) a stream and pond. Finally on to Nevern, well worth a visit, Information board there helpful. Suggest walk upto castle and around the old church. After 4 full days it was good to come back to your comfortable, clean home and garden. Thank you for allowing us to visit. We as others have said before will return. A really good base in a fantastic part of Wales.

Shirley & Alun & Bailey (Springer spaniel)

We have had a lovely short holiday in Dinas Cross. The bungalow is very well equipped and in a great location. Very peaceful with lovely views from the garden and conservatory. Lots of bird life and red kites flying over the fields behind the bungalow. Great beaches nearby, recommend a visit to Ceibwr Bay, beautiful scenery and seals swimming in the bay. Loved the walk through the woodland from Pwllgwaeloed to cwm-yr-eglwys, very safe for walking the dog. Our dog Bailey thouroughly enjoyed the sea and walks - managed to tire him out eventually. Thank you for the welcome pack. It was very much appreciated after a short drive down here. Look forward to coming again to stay in this truly wonderful bungalow & beautiful part of Wales.

Christine & Chris

Just a short break in this lovely cottage. Weather has been excellent for us. Great variety of walks from the front door - just what we like. Would recommend the Sunday lunch at 'The Farmers' in St Davids, and the local chippie here. Thank you for the very comfortable stay!

Lynsey and Michael

Thank you for a lovely peaceful & relaxing 4 night break. The cottage is welcoming with all it's homely facilities. The welcome pack was a really nice touch when we arrived. Dinas cross is a must to visit again soon. Thank you again!

Mr & Mrs Peters & Dogs

What a peaceful and tranquil place to stay. We have enjoyed every minute of our stay. Accomodation perfect, clean well thought of. Could not have pictured anything nicer, will come again. Great place for walking dogs. Thank you, this is just what we needed!

The Jones Family

Fabulous cottage and everything thought of. Loved the property! Have never really been able to shower my 6yr old son before as he hates them, however the chair and set up of the wet room enabled me to coax him in and he didn't mind at all! Result!
