About Ty Llwyd

Ty Llwyd is an extended stone barn conversion set in the small hamlet of Fachelich just over a mile outside the historical city of St Davids with its popular shops, pubs and restaurants, while a short drive will take you to some of Pembrokeshire’s prettiest coves, sandy beaches and stunning sections of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

Comfortably furnished the lounge, with its exposed stone wall; beams; multi fuel stove and leather sofas to cosy up in, makes a welcoming retreat. Stairs lead to the pretty bedrooms above with sea glimpses, while an arch opens to the light cottage style kitchen/diner. A stable door gives access to a small, lawned garden with raised, decked patio offering lovely rural views out towards St Davids peninsula - an ideal spot to enjoy a barbecue.

Conveniently located Ty Llwyd is an ideal holiday cottage, whatever the season.

The hamlet is approached via an A road, via 200m of single-track road. A short unmade drive leads to a 5 bar gate, clearly named Ty Llwyd. There is a large level gravelled courtyard area with parking for 2 cars, ample space to turn a single car within the grounds. There is just one small step up to the threshold of the front door. There is an alternative entrance via the kitchen, again with only one step up to the door. There are no internal steps on the ground floor which has a bedroom and bathroom with bath and electric shower over the bath. The open plan kitchen/diner and the living room are well lit with ample natural light and overhead and wall lights. The control panel for the oil central heating is in the kitchen. The television and other audio visual equipment have remote controls (subtitles can be selected from the television menu). The kitchen is modern with a gas cooker with low-level oven. Fridge and separate freezer are below counter level. There is plenty of work surface area. All bedrooms and the living room have fitted carpets with rugs. The kitchen and bathrooms have tiled floors. The staircase is not steep, but turns through 180 degrees to reach a small landing. The 2 upstairs bedrooms are spacious with plenty of space around the beds. They both have areas of reduced headroom, being built into the eaves. The upstairs shower room has restricted head room in parts. Guide dogs are welcome. The garden is mostly level and grassed. There is a large raised decking area, accessed by 5 steps. There is a public bus service from the junction of the lane with the main road, (approx 200m from the house.) Mobile phone reception is generally reasonable in the village.

A short break in January didn’t seem like a good idea with the predicted weather but we went out walking each day. We walked from the cottage, the map in the lobby being helpful in planning circular walks. Appreciate how you keep the cottage in great condition, well done.

Anonymous

A lovely relaxing break in a beautiful location. The cottage is well equipped and ideally located for any must do activities/interesting places to visit.

Anonymous

Very nice, clean, well located and well equipped. We were really happy with the cottage thank you

The Oakes Family

Lovely week in a nice area. Really good weather apart from one day. Recommended! Thank you

The Gower's

Thank you for our welcome to Ty Llwyd and Welsh Cakes! Lovely cottage and relaxing location. We were blessed with exceptionally good weather! Enjoyed daily walks from the cottage to the coastal path – Hartley our spaniel enjoyed 3 walks a day! Started our break with a walk at Newgale, explored Solva – we know it well. Strumble Head lunch at The Shed in Porthgain – delicious fish! I drove North of Fishguard to Dinas Cross, walked round Dinas Head. Love Wales – Thank you

Kath, Kevon & Bracken the dog

Yet again a lovely break away. Weather very kind for our morning walks and our afternoons out. Can highly recommend Mrs Will the fish in Upper Solva, super fresh seafood platter. Back soon.

Kath and Keiron

Another super break here in Ty Llwyd, fabulous welcoming and clean cottage at it's usual high standard. Weather was very kind to us again, with fresh Spring sunshine days then back to a lovely log fire in the evenings. Hope to be back soon

Karen and Barry Robinson

Once again a lovely stay in Ty Llwyd, cottage as always clean, cosy and comfortable! This is our fourth visit to the cottage and we will be back again!

Stuart and Helen

Wildest ever weather in 50 years of coming to St.Davids. However, cottage was warm and cosy. The kitchen was especially very well equipped.

Jon and Mel

We thought Ty Llwyd was an amazing cottage, beautifully presented and equipped. Very clean and cosy! We love Pembrokeshire and travel down from Cardiff when we can for weekends. This cottage is the perfect base for St.Davids peninsula and further afield. Felt very welcome here which was lovely. The cottage is so well equipped and we loved the notes/ map regarding geology. Finally, thank you Norma for preparing the cottage for us so beautifully.

Karen and Barry

Overall a great cottage, the standard of cleanliness is good. The crockery and cutlery are of good quality as is the cotton bedding! It is a lovely, cosy and warm cottage and has a nice feel to it, its location means absolute peacefulness. This is our second visit to Ty Llwyd and we will probably return. Thanks very much

Mrs Sleigh

Glorious three days. Perfect weather. Recommend a walk to St Nons well (nr St.Davids) As well as Coastal walks. Lunch at the Shed at Porthgain recommended. Cottage fully equipped to a high standard and warm.

Rob, Ellie and Layla

Stunning, well equip modern cottage with plenty of old character. Location is great and perfect for exploring Pembrokeshire. The Bishop in St.davids always serves up great food and beer! Hope to be back again in 2017

Helena and Graham

What a beautiful cottage you have, so warm and homely. Really enjoyed our stay here. All the facilities were great, especially the amount of double wall points, I lost count!! Would definitely book again if we want to stay in St.Davids.

Manuel Family

Fantastic cottage in a great location. Enjoyed the peace and quiet while still being close to St Davids and Solva. The cottage is cosy and comfortable. Would definitely like to come back!

Hadley Family

We have had a lovely week here at Ty Llwyd and will definitely come again. The weather has been fantastic and the garden is a lovely little suntrap in the early evening to relax after your day out. It has amazing views and sunstes

Ray, Tony, Adam, Matt oh and Woody

We have all had a very relaxing few days at your lovely cottage. The weather has been great so we made use of the raised decking. Newgale beach was fantastic for Woody our dog! Food at The Cambrian in Solva was excellent and I personally can recommend the hake! All in all a great break away.

Mr Field

Reiterate all the good views stated by previous entries and comments. Very relaxing and look forward to another visit.

Claire, Keith and Archie

We have had a very relaxing couple of days here, our third time staying at the Cottage. It is a peaceful and quiet location with lovely views, especially at Sunset. We have been lucky with some good, dry weather. We haven't done the usual long coast path walks as our dog is a bit frail these days but he has enjoyed walks at Caerfai and on the beach at St Davids and Whitesands. Sunday lunch at The Grove was very good.

Wayne and Sam

Enjoyed a very relaxing week in a lovely cottage. Nice comfy bed and very cosy and warm. The airfield was great for a walk or a run. Though the weather was not great all week, we were able to enjoy a couple of coastal walks on 2 sunny days. Beautiful, stunning views along the coastline! We have been very impressed with the cottage and thanks for the welcoming welsh cakes. Got us off to a good start. Definitely will recommend the cottage to others.

The Williams, The Jones, The Hughes

We cannot agree more with all the previous comments! Very comfortable cottage for 6 other people. Convenient to bus service if unable to walk too far. Lovely walks for dogs and very close to coast. We will be back! Very helpful neighbours!

Mrs M Hammond

Beautiful place to stay and practice watercolour paintings in peace. Lovely cottage.

Mike, Christina and a happy Collie

Weather very blustery but mostly dry and enough for good walks along coast. St Davids ideal as ever, a favourite. First stay at Ty Llwyd and very much hope to return. The cottage is so well equipped and comfortable. Our thanks and best wishes to owners.

Joanna, Julian and Coco the weimairaner

Just what we needed 2 weeks prior to Christmas, a relaxing, peaceful, quirky cottage, ideal for all locations. Coco loved his 3.7 miles round the old airfield twice a day, mum needed this also due to the food at The Cambrian in Solva, and Harbour Inn Solva!! Very lucky with the weather, sunny on Newgale on December 19th, wonderful. Captain's table in Saundersfoot does the best garlic mushrooms in the world, trust me, I've eaten millions of portions in my time! The cottage is beautiful, change nothing, decor good, location good, well done to all involved in making this a lovely break. We shall be back. Thank you so much.

Angela and Gary

First of all we would like to start off by saying a massive thank you for all the loan of your stunning cottage. The cottage and location has been perfect for us. This is our first visit to Pembrokeshire and what a place it is. We've only had the four days but have crammed so much into them. Gary has made a fire every evening and I've been busy away cooking on the stove. On Monday we walked to Solva on the Coastal path and the views are amazing. Some locals in The Bishops pub told us about The Blue Lagoon and pirates bay in Abereiddy. So we visited there and did a walk. The Cathedral is stunning (glad we went now) Mad lunch in The Sloop pub/Porthgain lovely soup and fresh bread. Fishguard was nice drive and parked up and walked around. Overall with the area, cottage and how cost and relaxing it is we've had an amazing 4 days and both don't want it to end. We will be definitely be returning next year. Big thanks and wishing you a Happy Christmas.

Toinette and Ted Davies

Thank you for a wonderful stay. We have had an amazing few days. The weather was brilliant - sunny and warm and we have made the most of the fantastic coastal paths and beaches. The cottage was perfect - very welcoming and we have decided we would love to live here! The kitchen is excellent, well laid out and equipped. I particularly loved the cooker! There was always plenty hot water and it was very warm. Thank you for the extra, thoughtful touches such as the dvd's, books and games. Lovely also to see the cottage information and tourist guides so neatly organised and filed. We love this area and have visited many times, St Davids is a special place, we have found the Xmas lights ceremony delightful - such a lovely sense of community. We will be returning again soon!

Sian Davies

Great cottage, quiet but within easy reach of Solva and St Davids, also my favourite bays of Porthgain and Abereiddy. Weather not good I was waiting for the children to come around with an umbrella! Had some good walks and good meals. Cottage beautifully decorated - much my own taste so I really felt at home. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Brenda Whiteman

Enjoyed our stay in your lovely renovated cottage. Enjoyed the wood burner, hardly needed any other heating system - even in a wet and windy November! The downstairs bathroom a bonus and much better than the upstairs shower, other facilities excellent and kitchen well equipped. The weather has been wet, windy and horrid - but we made the best of it - venturing up to Carn Liddi and Coetan Arthur! firework display at Solva, and even a surf in Whitesands (well, rain doesn't matter if you're in a wetsuit). The recent new additions are welcomed, it's nice to stay in a cottage whose owners take pride in their property and don't skimp on comfort for their guests. St Davids is a friendly little city and we will hope to return sometime in the near future. Thank you.

Glo (George's Granny)

Autumn half term in Pembrokeshire, how lovely, who could ask for more? Ty Llwyd is really home away from home, cosy, warm and very comfortable, set in a beautiful part of the country, although we've had a grey week, weather wise it couldn't have mattered less a wonderful week. Thank you.

George William Ayling (age 9) and Penny and Carl Ayling

Autmn in Pembrokeshire, a wonderful magical place full of life and colour. The cottage is lovely with a relaxing bath and stunning views from all aspects. Lovely holiday with towns and villages.

Janet, Barry, Gwenda and John

Another wonderful week in Pembrokeshire. This is the third time we have stayed in your house. Again we have been very comfortable and will certainly come here again in the new year. Thank you.

Ginger and Sharon

Well. first time in this area, but not the last. Great cottage, beautiful area, so many great little coves and beaches. St Davids, good restaurants, Ice cream shop. St Brides, stepback in time, great for snorkelling. Fresh fish, on left in Solva, crab, lobster, eat like a king! No. 17 not expensive at all. If you dont enjoy the local area...Well!. People with kids, take care at St Brides Cliffs

Owner's parents

One week has been fantastic - even the weather has been great. The facilities are second to home everything catered for. Well done, thanks for a wonderful stay!

Richard and Jan Tandy

We have had a very enjoyable week. Half sunny, half settled. We went on 2 boat trips, one on a R.I.B around Ramsey. Very exciting and saw lots of seals. The other at Martin's Haven on a slower boat, around Skomer. Had the best take-out Fish and Chips ever from The Shed at Porthgain. The 'Farmer's Arms' in St Davids does good pub grub. Lovely walk over the Airfield and we did a great walk over St Davids head. Well equipped cottage with a great range cooker. Overall we had a lovely time.

Manon, Thomas, Louis, Martin and Harri

We had a lovely stay at Ty Llwyd! Unfortunately the weather was very rough so we weren't able to get out much and explore the local area, but I'm sure we'll be back again, possibly for the summer holiday next time!! We also decided to leave a day early due to the weather and concerns about getting back with our little'un. We found Ty Llwyd to be a lovely, cosy cottage with everything we needed as a family here. We lvoe the kitchen, especially the range cooker! Glad of the gas hobs as we had a power cut! We would highly recommend this cottage to others.

Claire, Keith and Archie

This was our second stay at Ty Llwyd and we have enjoyed just as much as our first. We have been lucky with the weather - just one wet day - too windy for the Coast Path and almost too windy to walk round the airfield. The cottage is very comfortable with everything we needed and thanks for the daffodils.

Deb and John Harris

We've had a lovely weekend, the cottage is very comfortable and a home from home. The pubs and food in St Davids were great and we found taking the lane to the left of the cottage a nice easy and quiet walk to the city (approx 2 miles). The weather wasn't the best but we did manage to enjoy a glass of wine whilst taking in the view. Quad biking in Tenby was great.

Roger, Claire, Jacob (6), Isaac (5), Noah (18 months)

A blustery week with only a little rain. Not much sandcastle playing time but we did do some crab fishing at Solva Harbourm rock pooling at Newport Sands - found an impressive spider crab, also at Whitesands and football/wave dodging at Newgale. A funday was had at Folly Farm (a bargain with Tesco Clubcard vouchers!) Mummy's time out was at the various art galleries in St David's. Daddy's was anywhere with wifi and the beach! We refound workshop Wales near Manorwen, a great gallery and garden. We have a chinese from Solva - The chow mein was good and they do free delivery! St Davids playground (by CK's) is great for all children and scootering at the airfield. Always a good visit here, it is our 3rd time at Ty Llwyd in 5yrs.

Janet and Chris Sergeant

A wonderful week! We revisited place we haven't been to for 5 years! We had missed this area so much and it was such a joy to see it in the sunshine (mostly). The walk between Abereiddy and Porthgain is one of our favourites and once again, did not disappoint us. Our now grown up daughters enjoyed it just as much as ever. We finished off that day at the "Sloop Inn" in Porthgain. Whitesands is good in the evenings for beach games and sunsets. The local hen seemed to enjoy our company, especially outdoor meals! We enjoyed going over to Ramsey Island - lovely views and some wonderful bird sightings.

The Owners

Thank you for your lovely comments and pictures. It is lovely to hear what our greats get up to and to hear of new places to visit. This year we have had fantastic weathe so haven't travelled far, although we did meet up with friends in Saundersfoot and Newport. Whitesands remains "The best beach in the world" - despite the lack of surf and for once I am telling the truth when I say it's always sunny in St Dvids! Long may it continue. I hope everyone has a great summer here. Best Wishes.

Rachel, Nick, Big Ben, Little Ben and Charlie and Fletcher the dog.

What a fantastic week at Ty Llwyd! Glorious sunshine every day! We found a different beach everyday and stunning coastal walks. The Blue Lagoon was certainly a highlight for our 18 year old! We found the cottage to be perfectly situated, so tranquil. The airfield is great for cycling and running around - fantastic 360 degree views. A most delightful cottage with everything you could possibly need. Thank you. We are now in love with Pembrokeshire and no doubt will be back!

Jan, Hayley, Matthew, Shannon, Thomas and Bella the dog!

A wonderful week at Ty Llwyd. The Cottage was lovely as was all the places we visited. Marloes beach is stunning - would definitely recommend it for the breathtaking views and overall it is a really good beach for the whole family. Also, Colby Woodland garden is a great place to visit for the day as there is lots of activities to participate in. Solva is a good place to go crabbing - but only when the tides in otherwise finding crabs can be extremely tricky! Carew Castle is great fun and was thoroughly enjoyed. The airfield near the cottage was amazing - stunning views and certainly tired the dog out! The weather wasn't the best but still had a great time. Overall we all had a lovely holiday. Thank you very much for everything!

Pete Wanklyn and Co

We have had a great week - have been to this aera a few times before and enjoyed seeing going to some familiar places. Enjoyed the coastal paths - Newgale back to the cottage was quite a long one on a hot day but the cafe on the Quay at Solva provided the refreshment we needed for the last couple of miles. Food was good at the Sloop Inn at Porthgain along with a pint of the Reverend James. Hot chocolate and cake was excellent as usual at Sands Cafe. We have suggest to get a taste at the Shed Bistro at Porthgain, would admire booking a few days before! The cottage has been very comfortable and is well equipped, enjoyed sitting out on the decking in the evenings. Thanks for a great week.

James and Palmer families

Great location, airfield good for walking dogs and children. Gianni's Ice cream, St Davids highly recommended (coffee and walnut my favourite). Garden is a real sun trap. Overall a great holiday.

The Peckham family

Thank you for a lovely week at Ty Llwyd. We found the cottage very homely and comfortable with everything we needed. Perfectly located (with family also staying in St Davids). The children have loved the beaches (Newgale and Whitesands) and we have been lucky with the weather...it's lovely to pick up a bit of a suntan in Wales! Oh and I nearly forgot, we have all enjoyed the visits from the local hen! :) Emma, Phil, Julia (Grandma!), Lucas (aged 12), Oliver (aged 10, Libby (aged 8) and Harry (aged 3).

The Barry Family

We had a week of excellent weather. Went to 4 great beaches - Whitesands, Newgale, Marloes and the one by the Blue Lagoon at Aberreidy. Also a good walk - right on the doorstep. Go through the Airfield to Whitchurch - take the footpath by the church to Solva and then the path to the tiny road back to the A487 by the telephone box. Two excellent restaurants: Cwtch in St Davids and the The Shed at Porthgain. It is essential to book. The cottage is very comfortable and well-equipped.

This is our second visit to this lovely cottage and once again it has lived up to our expectations. Wow! What a nice house. I speak for everyone in saying that we had a great time! We spent many happy days strolling along beaches and shopping in St.Davids and Haverfordwest. I honestly can't fault this house, the kitchen and bathrooms are modern and clean and the living room and bedrooms are so cosy I slept well in the lovely beds! So did everyone, so thank you!

Janet Moult

This is a lovely holiday house with all the comforts. We have visited this area for the last 25 years and this house is the best we have stayed in. Thank you so much. Hope to return.

We loved the cottage, beautifully decorated and plenty of space. If the weather had been better, I wouldn't have moved from the decked area in the garden.

Ruth Harrell and family

A lot of effort has gone into making this a very pleasant holiday home. We have all enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you.

Heather, Carys and Nia
