Ty Olwen is on a gravelled single-track road some 50 metres from the main road, with off-road vehicle parking by the cottage. The pathway down to the nearby sand and shingle beach (about 50 metres away) is suitable for most people, otherwise there is a roadway. A step of 6” leads up to the front patio from the car parking area, which has two external lights for use at night. A small step leads to the fully equipped kitchen area. Entry to the cottage is over a small storm-guard onto the front porch, which has hanging hooks and a small bench seat. In the lounge there is a flat-screen TV/video player with remote control. The staircase has some 15 steps with a handrail on one side, and leads to the two bedrooms and bathroom. The bus stop is 50 metres away on the main road. The timetable will be found in the Pembrokeshire National Park newspaper –‘Coast to Coast’. There is a shop and garage in the nearby village.
Beautiful location with stunning views. Great house to explore the stunning Pembrokeshire countryside. Lovely atmosphere and local amenities.
Our second visit this year. Thank you very much again for welcome pack on the table, much appreciated. We hope to be back next year. Thanks
The porch! The view! No need to mention the location. Thank you
A lovely week in a lovely cottage! Thank you very much, well needed!
Wonderful week! We also plan to return. We really enjoyed watching the sunset from the bench and also life in Abercastle. We have two very happy girls, although we were all sad to leave.
First visit to Abercastle and Ty Olwen. We loved it and plan to return. Beautiful sunsets. Good walking from cottage. Thank you
Our 9th visit to Ty Olwen and was another fabulous stay. The weather was fab for most of the week, which meant plenty of walking. As ever, the St Justinians - Porth Clais stretch was magnificent. We came the same week last year - flowers definitely a bit later in 2018! We'll be back.
Had a lovely few days and would like to come again. We thought the cottage was very cosy and comfortable. Stayed in many cottages in this area and this one is highly recommended!
Another lovely holiday here. It's so peaceful here and the cottage is in a wonderful situation. Please don't miss the secret garden, accessible from the lane behind the cottage. A wonderful panorama, a great view.
Glorious week - sunny every day. Flowers glorious as usual. Walked both sides of the harbour.
"I need a space, a restful place, where worries are few, so we can enjoy the view. It's a win win win at Ty Olwen!"
Our second time here. Its tranquil as the first. Wonderful! This time our friend Annie came with us and experienced that tranquillity too
A Fabulous retreat, greatly enjoyed!
Lovely Cottage and great weather until today! Had some fine walks. All praise to coastal Cottages after I locked myself out a couple of days ago- how embarrasing :( but was dealt with great courtesy!
Lovely setting, enjoyed the sights and loved the activities locally
what a lovely place to spend a week, the boys have had so much fun making dams on the beach and throwing stones in the sea. We loved exploring all the local beaches, a small cove just outside Trefin was a favourite with a cave. Whitesands busy but lovely too. Two very sad boys in the car now waiting to go home, we'll miss our little cottage by the sea!
Abercastle is a great place from which to explore Pembrokeshire. Ty Olwen has lovely views of the bay. Highlights for us were, Whitesands, a trip to Ramsey Island.
We are sitting enjoying our last glass of red wine on your bench while the sun shines down on us - 7.20pm - beautiful. Our 11 year old is on the beach - again!!- looking for any crabs she can find. On arriving we walked south on the headland and saw a pair of peregrines- wonderful! Our 13 year old nearly managed to give up her I pod- nearly! Thank you for no Wifi!! We are sorry we have to leave
First time in Abercastle, wont be the last. Cottage perfect and very friendly people - 29 Degrees, why go abroad. We visited a beach to the right of whitesands, 15 min walk along cliff Top. Really good with caves full of water
Lovely week with great weather encouraging us to do lots of favourite coastal walks. We used the bus back from Porthgain ( lovely Crab sandwiches at the Sloop Inn) and to Strumble head. The rain started on our walk back from Strumble head and continued on and off. On Friday morning we visited Gwuan Valley Brewery, Narberth and Solva. A beautiful sunset for our last evening following a sunny afternoon
Sarah and Norman - you made the best choice of holiday ever! We are probably in our 14th/15th years of Abercastle and it doesn't get any better than this last week. So hot and sunny - marvellous. The Robin expected to have titbits every time he saw us sitting on the chair. Here's to the next break
Fifth time in Ty Olwen and couldn't wait to get back here. It's been a marvellous week- perfect weather for walking and watching the tide. It just keeps on going out and coming back in again! Have seen plenty of seals and sea birds around the coast, and as always have marvelled at the fantastic flowers. Its so good to be able to walk without having driven- and the buses are still running! Where has the week gone? Its all over so soon, havent even eaten out anywhere. Who would want to miss the sun setting over the cove? Have a marvellous time whoever is here next! Thanks for everything once again
Our first visit here. We joined friends who have stayed in the cottage twice before. Beautiful weather, walks and sights that I will revisit in memory as I heard back up north. A wonderful holiday
An enjoyable week with mixed weather. Cottage clean and cosy. Amazing selection of birds around Abercastle...never seen so many wrens! Wonderful, peaceful view to look out on ( even in stormy weather)... Nature rules. OK! We'll be back sometime
very windy on arrival but then the weather improved with mostly sunny days. The flowers on the coastal path were amazing very quiet and relaxing week. Our second stay at this cottage in 2014
Thank you for a lovely stay, it was Heather Lily's first holiday and she loved the clean air, the sound of the river, waves and watching the many little birds come to visit. We stocked up on food from the Nica store in St Davids and set up base camp in Abercastle. Highlights included a walk to abermawr beach and a picnic, the Strumble bus to Porthgain and fuelling up at the Shed before walking the coastal path home. A lovely, lovely, lovely holiday- we will be back xxx
Thank you for a wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect week. We'll be back!!
Another brilliant week in our favourite cottage and village. The weather wasn't too bad and we managed a shortish walk every day . We've found another good place to eat - The Pump on the green, in Spittal, we shall certainly go back. Here's to our next stay
A lovely relaxing holiday had by all, Cottage is lovely with fantastic views had lovely meals at The Ship in Trevin and Somethings Cooking in Letterston, we will be back!
We have had a relaxing week, the cottage was lovely, the weather good. Abercastleis a beautifull place, the people of Pembrokeshirevery friendly and helpful, we got to know trevor and his daughter who are the nicest people we have ever met. Walks around the cliffs with the bonus of seals and pups made our week a memorable one, and we hope to come back
Our third visit to Abercastle but first to Ty Olwen we had a lovely week. Lovely cottage and amazing views- thank you
Love the peace and calm of the setting – fabulous sunsets, weather and walks
Only previously visited this area in the summer but was delighted to find the cottage cosy even on frosty days
