About Woodlands House

Woodlands House is a wonderful large detached house, dating back to the 1850s. Fully restored to a high standard in 2018, it nestles in a secluded setting down a nearly mile long drive, just a 20 minute walk from the beaches of Aberbach and Abermawr, near the village of Mathry. As you come down the drive through the woodland, leave your cares behind! The house is surrounded by large enclosed lawned grounds giving plenty of space for children to play safely and lovely spots just to sit and relax, listening to the sounds of nature.

To the front of the house is a rough slate paved terrace, sheltered and sunny, where you can enjoy an alfresco meal on a summer’s evening. Step into the spacious sitting room of this wonderful house, renovated throughout to a high standard, while retaining its original character with beams and restored sash windows. Comfortably furnished, and with a full-size church organ, the wood burning stove ensures a cosy feel on chilly evenings. The newly fitted kitchen/diner has a farmhouse feel with a large table to enjoy family meals together.

Stairs lead to the bedrooms above with lovely rural views, the master bedroom has 2 steps down to an ensuite bathroom.

Spend your days exploring the 24 acres of woodland and pasture with a large pond and stream running through a pretty gully, where in Spring the daffodils and bluebells are stunning. This area teems with wildlife, buzzards and badgers are regular visitors as well as seals on the beaches, bird and wildlife lovers will be in their element. The public footpath running past the house takes you to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and the stunning rugged coastline, 20 minutes’ walk away, crossing only one small lane. The area has been recently listed by Dark Sky Discovery - marvel at the star constellation above on clear nights.

The village of Mathry is nearby with its excellent pub, tea room and gallery and a visit to the family-run Tregwynt Woollen Mill is a must of any stay. There is a host of nearby quaint fishing villages with sandy coves and rock pools to visit, including Abercastle, Trefin, Porthgain and Abereiddy. The bustling harbour town of Fishguard is within a short drive and offers excellent facilities, while the tiny city of St Davids with its Cathedral and Bishops Palace lies in the opposite direction.
