The origins of Saundersfoot, surprisingly, lie in the industrial history of the county of Pembrokeshire. The village first developed to serve the long-gone local coal mining activity, when small steam trains brought the coal into the harbour, where it was then shipped in coastal colliers. Some of our Saundersfoot accommodation and holiday flats even lie on the very site where the main colliery once operated. The tunnelled headlands of the old railway route now form part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which can be easily accessed from all of our Saundersfoot holiday homes.
