The tiny city of St Davids - with its bishop's palace, cathedral and excellent range of amenities - is only a short drive away from this spectacular beach, and you can also squeeze in a quick round at the St Davids City Golf Club, which benefits from having Whitesands Bay as its stunning backdrop. And, whatever else you do whilst you're here, taking a boat trip from Whitesands (or the nearby St Justinian's) to Ramsey Island is an absolute must.
The beautiful Whitesands Bay is overlooked by the great Carn Llidi, a towering, dramatic, volcanic outcrop. As the endless waves pound onto the bay below, you can enjoy watching the many amateur and professional surfers who visit the beach regularly and attempt to tame its amazing breakers – or, of course, you could have a go yourself!
The section of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path that includes Whitesands, meanwhile, will take you through Iron Age fields and onto the peninsula settlement at St Davids Head - a fabulous walk!
