A Little About Newcastle Emlyn...

Newcastle Emlyn is a market town situated alongside the River Teifi, in the county of Carmarthenshire. This little town makes the perfect base for exploring the surrounding Welsh countryside and particularly the beaches along the northern Pembrokeshire coastline. 

Newcastle Emlyn has a range of attractions that are worth a visit, such as the National Wool Museum, the National Coracle Centre and also the beautiful ruins of the town’s old Norman Castle. The area also offers a range of shops, pubs and antique centres to enjoy.

A visit to nearby Cenarth Falls should not be missed, while the rural County market town of Cardigan with its farmers markets and facilities is only a 9 mile drive away. 

Take a boat trip to really appreciate the beauty of Cardigan Bay which has its own resident bottlenose dolphins and grey seals, explore the glorious coastline with its many beautiful beaches, the closest being Tresaith less than 10 minutes away by car, it is popular with sailors and surfers alike, this beautiful sandy beach has it all with regular sightings of dolphins and rock pools and even a waterfall to explore.

Consisting of a bespoke on location photo session for 1-2 dogs, professional retouching of the best 20+ images from your session, selection of  your favorite images from the comfort of your home, a Fine Art print & social media ready file of your choosing for personal use, plus help and advice to help you create your truly personal artwork afterwards. 

Traveler session fee: £75.

Cenarth Falls
The River Teifi has made its way through the hard rocks to produce a spectacular series of waterfalls. There has been a Mill at Cenarth at least since the 13th century, the river Teifi surrounding the mill is a well known salmon leap where the fish can be watched leaping up the falls.
Coopers Arms
The Cooper's Arms will offer a warm and friendly environment where you can enjoy a good selection of freshly home cooked locally sourced food. Outdoor Seating area with climbing frame for the children. A wide range of draught beers,wines and spirits available, freshly brewed coffee and soft drinks. Please Note: The restaurant seats 30 people so large groups recommended to make a reservations, but Walk-Ins are welcome.
Gwesty'r Emlyn Hotel & Restaurant
Gwesty'r Emlyn Hotel is an award-winning hotel & restaurant . The beautifully decorated restaurant has a relaxed and sophisticated ambience with a modern yet comfortable theme which provides you with a welsh home away from home feel. Please Note: Spa pool, sauna & gymnasium are open to the public at a charge. Dogs welcomed outside and water bowls are available for them on request.
La Calabria
La Calabria is an authentic Italian restaurant offering traditional and delicious Italian dishes, using quality local Welsh produce. This restaurant is a family run business, set in what once was a barn in the middle of the Welsh countryside, which gives it a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. Enjoy Italian classics such as Spaghetti Bolognaise and Lasagna followed by homemade ice cream!
National Coracle Centre
Located beside the Cenarth Falls, the National Coracle Centre and Museum is situated in the grounds of an 17th Centuary Flour Mill. See the international collection of coracles and learn all about the history behind them and how they were built. You'll also have the chance to learn all about poaching, and see videos on the building of coracles. Please Note: Out of season Guided Tours can be booked by appointment.
National Wool Museum
The National Wool Museum is set in the Teifi valley, this museum displays the historical woollen industry which once was such a significant part of Welsh culture. See the historically used machinery and view the entire process of turning fleece into fabric with the purpose-built raised walkway. Follow "A Woolly Trail" and give carding, sewing and spinning a go!
Newcastle Emlyn Castle
Newcastle Emlyn Castle is situated overlooking the Teifi river, and is now mostly ruins of the stone building it once was. Believed to have been built using Dyfed welsh stone, this castle has been subject to many attacks up until 1645 when it was blown up with gunpowder during the English Civil War.
Pachamama Bistro
Pachamama Bistro & Coffee Shop serves breakfast, lunch and evening meals. The menu is inspired by Asian cuisine and their specials board can have food from Vietnam, Thailand and China. The little Bistro sat behind the clock tower is called a hidden gem!
Teifi Valley Railway
Teifi Valley Railway is currently working hard to ensure that the railway is soon to be back in operation as soon as possible. With steam locomotives, and diesel locomotives just in case, as well as children's play areas, a miniature railway and a cafe, there really is plenty to do and see! Hear talks from the engineer and see the steaming of the engine!
The Daffodil Inn
The Daffodil is a rural country pub, located in Penrhiwllan. They strive to make quality freshly cooked meals, using local produce wherever possible. Opt to eat outside on the decking area with stunning views across the valley, in the relaxing lounge bar or in the restaurant. Menus change seasonally, with a la carte options and menus suitable for young children, as well as specials highlighting various local produce. Please Note: Well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar and decking areas. If travelling especially to visit The Daffodil, it is recommended to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
The Ffynnone Arms

It is a traditional Pub and it dates from the 18th Century.  Full of Welsh charm, it is now the happy result of a meeting of traditional and modern – a roadside inn with a recent interior remake both sympathetic and thorough. On the borders of the three counties of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Cardigan Bay in the village of Newchapel in between Cenarth and Boncath near the market towns of Newcastle Emlyn, Cardigan and Crymych. They serve real ales, lager ,cider and have a fine selection of wines. Bar Meals  from Wednesday to Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtime (Carvery Sundays) They care for our clientele, so  cater for people who require gluten free and dairy free and also have various vegetarian and vegan options on our menu.

Food served: Wednesday-Saturday  6pm – 9pm and Sunday Carvery  12.30pm – 2.30pm. booking advisable.

The Nags Head Inn
The Nags Head Inn is a traditional, riverside country pub perfect for all the family all year round. With riverside gardens and a play area for the little ones, this is a favourite during the warmer months, but pay a visit during the winter and you'll be greeted by a cosy atmosphere indoors with open fires. Classic pub meals are on offer, as well as Sunday lunch, specials and a range of bottled beers, wines and spirits.
The Three Horseshoes Inn
A traditional pub with an open fire situated in the village which serves real ales and home cooked food. Families and dogs welcome.
The White Hart
A traditional pub set over looking the river serving home cooked food and real ales. Families and dogs welcome. Please Note: Dogs welcomed in the tiled area of the pub and the patio area only.
Yasmin's is an awarded Michelin Stars Indian Restaurant in Newcastle Emlyn. The Owner grows a lot of his own vegetables which he uses in his dishes. The food is freshly prepared with a wide section of cuisines . Eat in or take-away menus available.
