The origins of Saundersfoot surprisingly lie in the industrial history of the county. The village first developed to serve the long-gone coal mining activity, when small steam trains brought the coal into the harbour walls, where it was then shipped in coastal colliers. The tunnelled headlands now form part of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.
The summer months offer lots of activity and nightlife, but this lovely village with its south facing banks and beautiful waterfront should not be forgotten out of season, mild winters and empty beaches make for a good winter break jam-packed with free open waves, endless space for dogs to chase balls and children to let off steam.
Saundersfoot provides easy access to the sensational Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and is a fabulous base for walkers.
The Cliff Restaurant and Gallery Bar have the most dramatic views across Saundersfoot bay and harbour. In summer, the outdoor decks are a popular place for meeting up with friends, casual dining or drinks receptions. The Good Trails is a Stand-up Paddleboarding school who are based in Saundersfoot and operate from Coppet Hall beach. Discover Pembrokeshire’s stunning coastal views and go deep into the Estuary with an experienced Stand-up Paddleboard instructor. All lessons are held in calm waters. It’s a fun and enjoyable way of discovering places that are only accessible from the water. Plus it is a sociable sport that can be enjoyed by the whole family or anyone from a group with different abilities. Shorty wet-suits & buoyancy aids are included. Janz restaurant, BB's bar located in Broadfield Caravan Park is open daily from 6pm. It has a great outside decking area with great view, with park and play area for the children. The restaurant offers a great selection of meals and specials, with popular pie and curry & pint nights to traditional favourites, E.G steak sizzlers, beer batter cod, half roast chicken and Ribs on the menu. Jan's also offers a Sunday carvery but it is essential to book to avoid disappointment.
The Kookaba Restaurant is a friendly, family owned, vibrant environment in the centre of Saundersfoot offering food with an Australian theme. A wide selection of Aussie foods are available from burgers, pizza's steak and ribs. Or if you fancy trying something a bit more unusual you can try kangaroo, ostrich, and barramundi.
They also have childrens menus and a wide selection of beers and Australian wines.
The Marina is located on Saundersfoot harbour and is a modern fish and chip restaurant where you can order traditional fish and chips with real ale beer batter or have a piece of fresh fish grilled with a salad. You may wish to eat your fish with a glass of wine or bottle of beer in the restaurant or take it away to the beach.

This picturesque beach is partially framed by the impressive cliff side and also the stone harbour walls. Fantastic for swimming, water sports and sunbathing, this sandy stretch also benefits from toilet facilities, cafes, pubs and shops all close by
The main section of the beach has a dog ban from May to September, although if you have a dog with you, you can head along The Strand until you reach the tunnel, the dog ban is lifted from this stretch of the beach onwards.
St Brides Hotel is set on a cliff top overlooking Saundersfoot Bay. They serve food throughout the day, from breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea. They use the finest Pembrokeshire produce and locally landed fish which is regularly featured on the menu, which changes regularly to ensure that they serve the best produce each season has to offer. There’s a range of dining options, from eating in the Cliff restaurant to the more informal Gallery lounge or even outside on the deck, overlooking the bay.
The Restaurant at Swallow Tree Gardens is set over looking Swallow Tree Bay, a small cove, is just a short woodland walk away from the harbour town of Saundersfoot. The on site restaurant offers some of the best food in the area, imaginative menus and friendly service. The bar, restaurant and patio offer delightful sea views. Patio heaters enable guests to relax outdoors in comfort on fine summer evenings, whilst a feature log fire provides a cosy ambience on chilly nights. The Beachside Barbecue formally known as The Mermaid Restaurant is all about Brisket, Ribs, Chicken and Fish. Featuring melt in the mouth, “low and slow” authentic barbecue cooked in our Hard Wood Pit Smoker (all the way from the USA) and a Lump Wood Charcoal Oven. Located in Saundersfoot with breathtaking views overlooking the beach and harbour. The restaurant has a clean and contemporary feel which extends outdoors onto a sunny patio area.

The BoatHouse is a brand new restaurant in Saundersfoot which opened its doors for the first time in July 2016!Its a family friendly relaxed Bar & Restaurant in the heart of Town. They have a passion for local fresh produce and this is shown throughout our food. Specialising in a grill style menu and fresh local fish specials and working closely with local suppliers to get in the best ingredients to make up the homely menu. The bar offers a range of wine, ales and cocktails on top of the usual beers and spirits. Catering for large parties and special occasions and open for lunch and evening meals
The Captain's Table is situated right on the harbour in Saundersfoot offering a selection of Real Ales as well as a large menu, including Sunday lunch, a la carte as well as light bites. All meals provided either in the restaurant or outside under the sail canopies in our harbourside beer garden.

The Mulberry is a friendly and welcoming restaurant situated near to the popular sandy beach at Saundersfoot harbour. The perfect restaurant whether you want a romantic meal, or visit with the whole family after a day at the beach! Happy to accommodate all diners, they offer a children's menu, a lunch menu and an evening menu, and are also able to accommodate those with dietary requirements, but please let them know in advance.

The Old Chemist Inn is a Family pub and restaurant located in the heart of Saundersfoot. It has a large beer garden which provides direct access onto Saundersfoot's award winning beach. Serving good home-cooked food, daily local fresh fish specials and parties catered for in their restaurant or cellar bar.
They serve real ales and have a happy hour between 4-6pm.

The Royal Oak is a Lively pub in the heart of Saundersfoot which has a lot of history and character.
