A Little About Treffgarne...

Treffgarne is a small rural village, which is situated about 4.5 miles from the County town of Haverfordwest- which is full of great facilities including a cinema, and lies to the south of the Preseli Hills.

The village’s name derives from 'Tref' meaning town and 'Garne' meaning rock, or the 'Town of the rock'. The rock in this case is the locally infamous Treffgarne Rocks, a series of ancient Ordovician rhyolite volcanic plugs, now exposed, that form the Roche Rhyolite Group.

The village is thought to go back to at least to the medieval period, the church itself is built upon the site of a medieval monastery.

Treffgarne is just a short drive away from Wolfs Castle, with its excellent pub/restaurant, The Wolfe Inn. The Inn is a charming pub which offers excellent food and a great range of cask ales. Also in Wolfs Castle is the highly recommended Allt y Afon Hotel and restaurant which serves wonderful food to non-residents.

Plumstone Mountain is within a short drive from Treffgarne and is a walking paradise. As you explore this stunning area, you’ll be blown away by the exceptional views of the surrounding hills and National Park. Look out for the pretty, grazing Welsh mountain ponies, harriers, buzzards, rabbits and foxes as you enjoy getting off the beaten track.
