Overview
Booking cancellation insurance is designed to give you peace of mind if difficult circumstances should arise that would mean you have to cancel or curtail your trip, including some instances relating to COVID-19.

Holiday cancellation insurance protects your booking should you have to cancel or curtail your trip for an insurable reason, up to the value of the initial booking. The policy provides coverage from the date of issue up to one year before the intended holiday date.

Key types of incidents that could lead to cancellation or curtailment of your holiday:

  • Accidents
  • Injury
  • Physical and mental illness
  • Death
  • Compulsory quarantine
  • Jury service attendance
  • Being called as a witness at a Court of Law
  • Redundancy
  • Serious damage to a home caused by a fire, aircraft, explosion, storm, flood, subsidence, malicious persons or theft (presence required by the police)
  • Cancelled holiday leave for operational reasons for any person with whom the customer has arranged to travel
  • Cancelled leave for operational reasons for members of the armed forces, police, fire, nursing or ambulance services, or employees of a government department
  • Bodily injury, illness or death of a close relative or business associate of the customer, anyone travelling, or expected to travel, with them, or who is providing temporary accommodation during the trip
  • Any person with whom the customer is travelling being called for jury service, made redundant, called as a witness at a Court of Law, or undertaking compulsory quarantine

Protecting travellers during COVID-19
Upon cancellation, you or any of your travelling companions will be refunded the value of your booking if you are:

  • Diagnosed with COVID-19 within 14 days of departure (or hospitalised within 28 days of departure)
  • Quarantined on the advice of a treating medical practitioner or self-isolating as a result of a personally received track and trace notification
  • Diagnosed with COVID-19 after commencing their trip and prior to completing check in at the Group Policyholder’s site on which the booked accommodation is located
  • Denied boarding on booked transport by a public transport carrier as a result of failing pre-boarding COVID-19 checks, with written confirmation of denied boarding from the carrier
