Here's to the next forty

In 2022, we’re celebrating our fortieth birthday at Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire and to be honest, we can’t quite believe where the last four decades have gone. Are we really that old?!

We raise a glass to the forty years which have passed and look forward to the forty years yet to come. Just as anyone celebrating a significant birthday does, we’ve become somewhat sentimental so you’ll find a sprinkling of nostalgic photos and long-lost memories throughout our posts this year.

Some of you reading this may have lived through a few of these forty years with us, returning year upon year for your family holidays. We know for certain that some of you have been with us since the early days; when it was just a handful of us working out of the small office in Abercastle - the place where it all began. We also know that some of you reading this may be acquainting yourselves with us for the first time and we welcome you all just as warmly.

Over the years, we’ve seen many a change such as the rise of the internet and we’ve adapted to suit, but the important heart of our company has not changed. Here at Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire, we always have and always will be a family-run team who all live and breathe our spectacular corner of Wales.

The tiny seaside village of Abercastle, where it all began.

Back in 1982, we began as a passion project established by Daphne and Paul Pocock; a husband and wife pair with a deep-rooted adoration for Pembrokeshire and a determination to share that with others. Nowadays that passion, adoration, and determination remain, just with a different pairing at the helm.

In our very first brochure, we wrote that “the service [we provide] is a personal one”; a mantra that we have held as our top priority ever since. We understand the significance a holiday has and so we do our utmost to ensure you find the very best cottage for you. We’ve set up our very own Concierge service to help make sure the rest of your holiday experience matches that just-right cottage with personalised recommendations and bespoke suggestions on what to see and do during your stay.

We are now Pembrokeshire’s only privately run agency with a team all as local as can be. We walk the coastline, eat in the cafés, drink in the pubs and play on the beaches. Just like some of you, we’ve watched our children grow on these shores with many locations that have become part and parcel of our memories.

Our promise to you for the next forty is this, our values shall remain as they were then and as they are now. To provide that personal service in every which way we can.
