The Team at The Castle

Since September 2018, young couple Amy and Dave have been manning the helm of this popular seaside pub whilst also looking after their son Jacob, 5 and preparing for the arrival of their little girl, due in just a few short weeks.

Dave has over 10 years of experience as a chef and even worked at The Castle in his younger days, frequent visitors over the years may recognise him although he did spend most of his time in the kitchen cooking. Thus when the lease came up in 2018, he and Amy jumped at the chance to take over the place.

Amy swapped her career in mental health and immersed herself in the world of hospitality alongside Dave. Together the pair have flourished in their new roles, they have grown the business and developed a warm family friendly environment for the pub and restaurant here. Over the years, they have built up a fantastic team of staff who go above and beyond for them, with new members being added to the team each year.

Local fresh produce is always a priority here and is used wherever possible throughout the menu. One of their main suppliers is J. Blockwell & Son butcher’s shop in Milford Haven; run by Amy’s father and boasting a 100-year history, you can be sure the meat you taste here is the finest around.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are provided by another Milford Haven source, Fresh & Fruity, and the team are constantly exploring new suppliers within the county to keep their ingredients fresh and local.

What’s On at The Castle

As if the superb menu and wide range of drinks aren’t enough, you’ll find regular themed nights taking place at this rural Pembrokeshire pub throughout the winter months. Most weeks will host at least one food theme a week, such as Thai Night or Italian Night.

Keen quizzers will no doubt want to call in for a drink or two on Wednesdays with the recent launch of their Wednesday Quiz Nights, so make sure to brush up on your general knowledge if you’re planning to attend!

Upcoming Plans

The team are hoping all themed nights will continue into this year and the focus is on expanding the excellent dining experiences they have developed so far. Plans are in place to decorate and update the smaller dining room to the side of the building, turning it into an ideal spot for intimate private dining experiences for families.

As always, Amy and Dave are hoping to concentrate on offering delicious food and providing a warm and welcoming to all who visit.

Did you know?

The Castle first opened in 1871 and is reputedly haunted. Its use in former times was as a place to lay out the bodies of drowned sailors who had washed ashore on the beach whilst they awaited burial.
