Coast and Wild have an art studio in north Pembrokeshire at Dinas Cross where they produce fine art prints from seaweed washed up on local beaches.
Their background is in design and photography, and foraging seaweeds to press and produce seaweed art has become something of an ongoing obsession and delight for them. Originally, they collected seaweed as shape and colour references for designs and paintings, and they soon realised that the pressed seaweeds were pieces of art in themselves.
“I, Noelle, carefully collect, wash, press, and then dry the seaweeds over two to three weeks before Jon digitises them to preserve their beauty; this allows us to produce vivid, life-like reproductions of them on archival-quality paper for others to enjoy.
Alongside the seaweed prints, some of my original seaweed pressings, plus a selection of reproduction vintage 1888 maps of our coastline, which Jon has curated, are on display and available to buy at the studio too."
The studio is open Fridays from 10.30am to 4.30pm
