Built in the 13th Century, this castle is half fortified manor house and half fully developed medieval castle surrounded by forty acres of land and gardens. It is currently managed by the Picton Castle Trust who often host special events such as the Victorian Christmas Fair, Mother's Day Events, Family Fun Days and Guided Tours. Explore the Walled Gardens, the Mediterranean Garden, the Jungle Garden and the Peach House Wood outside and then head inside to tour the 18th Century interiors.
Picton Castle & Gardens is also now the home of the Welsh Owl Garden, admission to which is included with entry to the Castle. Set in the bluebell woodland, you will find over 25 species of owl and exotic birds. Through the summer season, flying displays usually take place daily for visitors to see.
Within the grounds, you can also find an Adventure Play Area for children, a Lumsden Antique and Vintage Lawnmower Collection and a Castle Gift Shop. For a bite to eat, stop off in Maria's Courtyard Restaurant and Deli - guaranteed to serve you delicious meals and snacks time and time again.
Please Note: Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
Open daily excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
