If you're passing through Fishguard, you'll no doubt notice The Royal Oak. Situated on Market Square, the Royal Oak offers delicious quality food and drink for all the family. Throughout the winter, they run a monthly pub quiz on the first Thursday of each month and also have been known to host live music events etc. With exposed stone walls and wooden beams, it is a cosy traditional pub.
Not only is this a wonderful pub to visit, The Royal Oak has played a significant role in Pembrokeshire history. During the Last Invasion of Britain 1797, it was in the bar area of The Royal Oak where a peace treaty was signed between the French and the British, after the French army had (somewhat unsuccessfully!) attempted an invasion a little further up the coast. Find out more about the Last Invasion at the Tapestry Gallery just across the road in the Town Hall.
