Rosebush is a small village in the community of Maenclochog which lies on the southern slopes of the Preseli Hills, about a mile north-west of Maenclochog village.
In years gone past, Welsh slate was quarried extensively nearby, with its export facilitated by the development of the railway in the 19th-century - today, however, Rosebush is best-known as a centre for exploring the stunning mountain scenery that surrounds it.
The Tafarn Sinc, within walking distance of our Rosebush holiday cottages, is a great pub that serves up excellent food and local ales. It also has a unique appearance, being made of timber and corrugated zinc sheets, and is known as possibly one of the only ‘tin shed’ pubs in the country, cherished by countless locals and former visitors alike. In 2017, the Tafarn Sinc was threatened with closure but, following a major campaign which attracted support from the likes of Welsh actor Rhys Ifans, the pub was saved, and it is now owned by the community of Rosebush itself.
The area features a few eye-catching attractions that will ensure you have a memorable time during your stay at one of our holiday cottages in Rosebush. The most famous of its landmarks, found on the west side of the village, is the Waldo memorial, which was erected in honour of Waldo Williams, a well-known Welsh nationalist and anti-war campaigner.
