There is an interesting story behind where the small village of Stepaside got its name. It is thought that, during the Civil War, when Oliver Cromwell was marching his army to Pembroke Castle, he ordered his men to ‘step aside' at the old Camomile Bank Inn (meaning to step out of line and take a break); ever since that day, the little hamlet has been so named.
Our Stepaside holiday cottages are less than a mile from the equally charming destinations of Amroth and Wisemans Bridge, where there are several different pubs to choose from if you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a good-quality evening meal or a pint or two of local ale.
Just six miles north of Tenby, this beautiful little holiday hamlet is technically part of the community of Amroth. Although not full of amenities itself, the village is a mere stone’s throw from several larger settlements and its modest size means that it is a tranquil oasis all year round – something we know everyone who stays at our holiday cottages in Stepaside appreciates.
A highlight of the nearby village of Amroth is its lovely Amroth Beach, whilst visitors can also explore woodland, riverside scenery and stunning sea views by setting off along the Dramway, a manmade gravel path that provides a great experience for walkers of all ability levels.
