Gorffwysfa, ‘A Restful Place’, is a detached house, set in a quiet residential cul-de-sac above the bustling seaside town of Tenby, a 15 minute downhill stroll will take you to the beautiful North Beach. Most of the rooms enjoy stunning sea views out to the wonderful bay beyond.
The owner and her cats, who live in the integral annex has made it a home from home with dining room and comfortable sitting room where you can relax and admire the view. The small single bedroom on the ground floor leads through to a sunny conservatory, which can also be accessed via the garden with its pretty flowers and shrubs. Stairs lead up to two further bedrooms and bathroom nestling in the eaves both with sea views.
Conveniently located, the beach is within walking distance, as well as the wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants in this bustling historical walled town of Tenby, enjoy wandering its quaint cobbled streets and picturesque harbour from where you can take a fishing trip or a boat to Caldey Island, home to the Cistercian monks. Join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path accessed via a footpath behind the house to explore this stunning coastline and neighbouring beaches of Saundersfoot, Wiseman’s Bridge, Tenby South and Lydstep. Ideal for families, there are a wealth of attractions all within a short drive.

The property is approached via a short level driveway (no gate) from the road. Ungated. Garden – Hedges/unfenced, front. Drive ungated with parking for 2 cars. Raised seating area accessed by two shallow steps. Small table/umbrella/chairs. Beautiful sea views. Dry stone wall has sharp edges. There is ample parking for 2 cars and hard standing for a small caravan or boat. There is an outside light for the drive. There are no steps to the main entrance. But two small door sills – on outer storm porch door and front door. Side Gate unlocked – Gate gives access to side patio, raised, 12 inch step. Flagstones slightly uneven. Patio has a chiminea, picnic table/umbrella/seating. Rear – Rockery with raised seating for two. Looks out over lane to trees, 6’ drop over bank. Rest of garden, flat lawns with small flower bed in centre. Access to conservatory, at the side, via two shallow steps. Back door – rear entrance to house – has a half step to access over a door sill. Outside this door – A shallow step to access lawned area and rockery. A shallow step to access the side patio. Bin storage area. Garden hose for washing sandy items (bowl provided). Ground floor: Entrance hallway leading to a dining area (and the stairs out of the dining room). From the dining area the doors give access to the living room, kitchen and walk through bedroom 3 to access the conservatory. This serves as a fire exit. The room is a small single bedroom with wall cupboard for hanging space in dining room. The conservatory gives access to the garden. There is a good level of lighting in the conservatory. In the kitchen there is a gas hob with burners and an electric fan assisted oven (with integral grill) on a surface to the right of the sink. There is a small microwave oven above main oven. Fridge, freezer and dishwasher into kitchen. Washing machine is in utility room. Central heating controlled by thermostats on rads. Main thermostat on wall in dining room. A staircase with handrail on the wall, leads from the hallway to first floor. The bathroom situated on the first floor contains a walk in shower with 1 small step up into the shower tray. There is a separate bath with handrails and a wash hand basin and wc. There is good colour contrast between the floor walls and doorways in the property. No phone provided. WiFi available. The television is operated by remote control. The garden at the rear can be accessed by turning right and walking around the side of the house - this is level and lawned with flowerbeds and small shrubs. Downstairs shower/toilet in owner's annex – with small hallway/dressing room. Vinyl flooring with shower mats. Shower accessed via 8” step, shower door shuts against lip. If required, access to downstairs shower & wc can be arranged. Utility room – Access via back hallway. 2 steps up into room. Washer/dryer. Owner reserves the 2nd freeze and cupboards for personal use. Behind the rear garden there is a sunken pathway, this is some 8 feet below the garden, the surface does become rough and muddy after rainfall. This rear bank is for the most part protected by hedging. Other sides are fenced. NB: Young children should be supervised in the garden. Access to coastal path at the top of the lane via pathway to a road approximately 1 mile. Access to beaches, approx. brisk 10 minute walk onto North Beach Promenade. Free parking for one car in Church car park, a few minutes’ walk into main shopping centre which is closed to traffic due to Tenby Pedestrianisation. The Doctors Surgery and Tenby Cottage Hospital are a downhill walk from the property - these are approximately a 10 minute walk away or a few minutes car ride. Owner lives a short distance away and will be available. Tenby Pedestrianisation is running from 1st July to 13th September 2019 from 11am until 5.30pm each day. Pedestrianisation will be suspended over Long Course Weekend Wales, 6th and 7th July to enable the setting-up and implementation of those events. We haven't been to Tenby for over 30 years and had forgotten what a lovely area of the county this is, it was a chance for us to re-visit places and even some new ones. We thought we were in for 2 weeks of bad weather but after the first 4 days when there were times when we couldn't see Tenby for the mist, the weather has been amazing, a mini heatwave. A great week in this superbly equipped property - mixed weather and we enjoyed Saundersfoot beach, the seal safari (2 porpoises spotted!), the reptile encounter and the fantastic Pembroke Castle. Tenby is lovely, though most places only seem to take cash and the ATMs run out. Best walking route is via alley at bottom right of seascape then left down Narbeth Rd. Baptist church parking (tucked round back of church) was much appreciated. Loads of great places to eat and drink in Tenby and very child friendly.
An amazing place. Fell in love with Tenby. Cooler weather was very welcome. Visited Caldey and Barafundle Bay, Saundersfoot, Freshwater East, Tenby all with a very able bodied 92 year old. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautifully located home.
Lovely house in a great location! Great views! You've provided everything we might expect and much more - such as the collection of DVDs, toys etc. Very comfortable as very peaceful.
It has been a really nice place to stay in. We walked into Tenby everyday and we would remember '10 miles and 970 yards to Narbeth'. One day we walked in 4 times. We went to Carew Castle and found out it was haunted by a ghostly ape. One day we tried to go to Saundersfoot, but we couldn't find a parking space. On that day we did a long 6 mile walk by the lily ponds. To finish the trip off we went to Caldey Island we did a little walk and had some chocolate. Thank you for letting us stay in such a beautiful cottage and the m&m's (they were nice).
Comfortable cottage, very convenient to town and own parking space very useful. Tenby very interesting place to explore its many streets, lots of eating places but some are expensive. We recommend a short drive out A4139 to Lydstep - Lydstep Tavern very good food at reasonable price. Caldey Island on a calm day for sea crossing, take a picnic. Saundersfoot to Wisemans Bridge a nice walk, Bosherston to Broad Haven past Lily Ponds, great beach - eat back at Bosherston at 'Ye Olde Cafe'. Freshwater East doggy beach.
