About Old Tregwynt Farmhouse

The Old Tregwynt Farmhouse is the original old stone farmhouse set in the grounds of Tregwynt Mansion adjacent to the main house. Your own walled patio makes the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing drink and leads into the spacious, open plan living space of the farmhouse with many retained features including exposed stone walls and beams, quarry and slate tiled floors. Large comfy sofas and woodburning stove make this a cosy retreat, while the welcoming bedrooms are prettily furnished with a traditional feel but all mod cons.

You are free to explore the 3.5 acres of grounds or just sit and watch the wonderful sunsets out to sea. In Spring the bluebells are a real treat. A short 20 minutes walk down the wooded valley takes you to the picturesque beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach Bay only a 1/4 mile away.

Conveniently located this is an ideal holiday home for families and couples alike from which to explore this magnificient section of coastline and all its attractions.

The Old Tregwynt Farmhouse also shares the same location as 22921 The Old Coach House and 22923 Atlantic View Hayloft.

Set in the grounds of this rather stately house, Tregwynt Mansion, this was one of the principle Manor houses in the area and part of a large estate. There has been a dwelling here since medieval times, although the existing house dates back to the 1700s, and a book has been written about its interesting history. The 3 cottages have been converted from original stone outbuildings and maintain many characterful features. While each cottage has its own enclosed courtyard, the extensive well-maintained grounds give plenty of space for children to play and room for leisurely walks, there are some idyllic spots and strategically placed benches where you can sit and soak up the sea views and wonderful sunsets. The skies overhead are vast and the stars at night are especially beautiful. Garn Fawr, a rocky outcrop within sight and walking distance of the cottages at Tregwynt Mansion has recently been listed by Dark Sky Discovery as one of the best places in the UK to see stars. The owner has a policy of keeping outdoor light pollution to a minimum, so guests can enjoy the milky way outside their cottage door. The extensive lawns at Tregwynt mean that during astronomical events such as meteor showers, visitors can take a picnic rug and lie on the grass watching the show.

With ample parking for each cottage, water sport enthusiasts can bring their boats, there are also wash down facilities for bikes and walking gear, and for the energetic take advantage of the tennis courts and enjoy a friendly game.

All within the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park, the area abounds in footpaths and is popular with cyclists, a national cycle route runs past the cross roads at the end of the drive. A 10 minute walk down quiet lanes takes you to Tregwynt Woollen Mill with its café and shop selling their exclusive wool products. There are a choice of 2 beaches within walking distance, Abermawr, good for winter surfing, and Aberbach. Join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to explore this stunning rugged coastline, the bird and wildlife is sure to delight with regular sightings of birds of prey overhead and seals on the beaches. Visit Abercastle with its sand and shingle beach, this popular inlet is still used by local fishermen, Trefin has a pub and café to try, while Porthgain with its sandy harbour has an excellent pub and restaurant to enjoy and an art gallery to explore.

Further afield, but well worth a visit is the lighthouse at Strumble Head, the rugged coastline is stunning and the area offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere; refresh at another popular village pub in Mathry. For more bustling and extensive facilities, visit the harbour town of Fishguard, or the tiny city of St David’s with its Cathedral and Bishops Palace.

The cottages at Tregwynt Mansion offer a wonderful holiday base from which to explore this beautiful part of Pembrokeshire, once discovered, you will not want to leave.

Chappell Family

We've had an excellent week in this very comfortable cottage and we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious it is (photos don't do it justice) We didn't realise there is no mobile reception and think wifi would really help and/or pay phone so you have some means of communicating to (a) book a table at The Shed (which always seems to be fully booked! or (b) speak to your daughter who returned home to get her alevel results! Having said that, we loved it here and even had 3 full days of glorious clear blue skies! Recommendations: - The Sloop Inn at Porthgain for lunch and dinner and free wifi! - Coffee and sandwich lunch at The Gourmet Pig in Fishgaurd - The walk around Dinas Head (1 1/2 hours) - remember to pack a little cash for a drink at The Sailors - Pwllgwaelod - Spectacular views along the coast. - Aberbach is a lovely local beach to walk to (20 mins) and scramble about on. - Good views from Gann Fawr on Stumble Head. - Abereiddy beach has a sandy beach and is good for swimming - Traeth Llyfn is a glorious beach (approached from Porthgain or Abereiddy) but you can get cut off at High tide. - Watching the sun set from the beanches in the grounds here. Thank you!

Once again Tregwgnt has not let us down! Total escapism and relaxation - love that there is no wifi or phone signal. The sun even came out on Bank holiday Monday! We will be back again and again. Thank you x

Carole, Al, Jo, Emily, Matilda and Pickle the dog.

Lovely week in this great cottage. The girls loved the tennis court and walking down to the beach. We had a lovely day at St Davids, Newport, Marloes Sands, Picton Castle, Whitesands beach and Aberiddy Beach. Weather has been mixed but didn't stop us exploring and enjoying this fabulous landscape. Had some great fish chips at The Shed, lovely pizza at the Canteen @ newport and lunch and cream teas at the Clock House at Marloes. The tapas at Picton Castle was amazing! Brilliant cottage. Thank you!!

John and Clare Bell and friends

Despite weather forecasts we had a great week with good weather for time of year. I love the snowdrops living in the valleys. Lovely relaxing cottage and walks all around the area. Enjoyed lunches in the golden Lion Newport, The Harbour Inn in Solva and The Sloop at Porthgain. Thank you so much for the wine and chocs.

Karen, Jean, Owen and Tom Rhoose

Weather dire but we have been warm and comfortable. The wine, tea, milk and logs were much appreciated. Thank you.

Another lovely relaxing week. Lots of beautiful coastal walks - we really enjoyed watching the seals off the coast. Thank you.

Kathleen Moore and Billy Wog

Lovely week in the cottage, very warm and comfortable everything we needed here. Great walks for me and my dog billy.

Chris, Sheila, Ethan, Leon and Ruby Day.

This is our 4th time staying here and we still love it as much as the first! We spent the first 3 days at the beach (Caerfai and Whitesands). Although for the last couple of days it was sadly raining but we still went to Nolton Stables to do horse riding which was a fun experience! All in all it was a nice trip! (You can get signal by the swings and by the tee that is next to the rocks)

The Wrights and Grandma

We are very impressed with this cosy cottage, the fabulous views and the added bonus of having a tennis court on the doorstep! Highlights of the week were: walking around Dinas Head and spectacular views; exhilarating boat trip around Ramsey Island - spotting seals and porpoises; swimming in The Blue Lagoon; eating fish and chips while watching porpoises surface and dive in Fishguard Harbour and a picnic on top of Gann Fawr - stunning views again. Thank you for providing such a fantastic base for a perfect family holiday.
