I was incredibly lucky the day I chose my walk, the sun was beaming down all day with next to no wind. Something that feels all too rare for the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
I started my walk towards St Brides at Broad Haven close to midday, Broad Haven Beach was bustling with people and had a nice albeit slightly hazy view out to sea. I've never walked this part of the Coast Path before and had been told it can be muddy. Luckily I avoided most of this with two consistent days of sun in a row prior to my walk.
I crossed through the road to Little Haven, a cosy little village with a serene beach setting. It's set in between the hillsides as a cove, shielded from the winds of the sea. I lost track of time a bit there, snapping pics of the calm setting in the air and after getting my fill, I continued onwards along the start of the actual Coast Path track. I crossed up and down the small hills of the path, taking in the wide views of the open sea. Calm and shimmering with an intense blue, I eventually arrived with an open stretched field to my left and the Talbenny Church in the distance.
After passing the church, the way onward was covered with the shade of trees and I trod along, finding my way to the next opening. Eventually, I found my way to the panoramic views of the Coast Path and pressed forward with each turn in sight, slowly revealing the last turn to St Brides Beach. I came to a nice resting point to eat my lunch and gaze at views with Howney Rock in site, while the birds below shot across the open sea.
After finishing up, I was prepared to take on the last stretch before St Brides.
I was surprised to come across a nice little private cove on the last stretch. Mill Haven, a secluded spot with running streams of water sliding down to the beach. As I left it behind me, I found myself constantly stopping to watch the gannets playing around their nesting area. The sun was slowly starting to set at this point as I'd spent so much time stopping to capture photos.
After passing a number of farmers' fields, I can imagine farming is quite nice on such a sunny day. I eventually saw St Brides Castle rise into view and at last, my walk was over, I had arrived at St Brides beach! Another peaceful spot to end my journey.
