Ivy Tower Village in St Florence

Choosing a location for your next Pembrokeshire cottage holiday can sometimes be tricky. With such a wealth of things to see and do across the region, knowing where to base yourself can make or break a good experience. If you’re planning a family holiday or an activity break with friends, a destination for consideration has to be Ivy Tower Village in St Florence.

Set just a short walk from some of Pembrokeshire’s best-loved attractions and only a ten-minute drive from the iconic harbourside resort of Tenby, it’s clear to see why guests return for an Ivy Tower Village stay year after year. This village-within-a-village is an ideal place to create memories with your little ones, the dogs and perhaps even the extended family.

Ivy Tower Village in St Florence

At Ivy Tower Village, you’ll find 18 privately-owned cottages centred around a pretty communal courtyard with access to an impressive selection of shared facilities like a heated indoor swimming pool and outdoor playground. Several of these pastel-painted retreats can be booked directly with us here at Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire, perfect when you’re holidaying together as larger groups who each want their own space.

Nestled amongst the quaint village of St Florence and overlooking the picturesque Ritec Valley, you’ll have all your favourite days out practically on your doorstep when you choose to make this setting your base. Just around the corner, you’ll find not one but four incredible attractions - that’s one for every day if you’re only staying for a short break!

Head to Heatherton Adventure Park for a dog-friendly day out and work your way through a bucket list of activities such as bumper boats, mini golf, baseball, archery, go-karting and pistol shooting. The park itself is free to enter and works on a credit pass system where you redeem credits against only the activities you want to take part in meaning if you’re taking along someone happier just to watch, there’s no entry fee. You can also have a go at the Escape Rooms here, try indoor bowls or take to the golf green, plus there’s a dog agility course too! Credit passes and Escape Room bookings can be made via our Concierge team here at Coastal Cottages.

Opposite Heatheron lies Manor Wildlife Park where you can take a self-guided walking tour sightseeing llamas, tigers and emus before passing by Camel Corner and Hoppington Green where the giant rabbits reside. Snap a picture of a warty pig, a pygmy goat, a gibbon and a Kune Kune pig too. You can even walk through certain enclosures to get up close and personal with the likes of lemurs, red pandas, wallabies and apes.

For something a little more “Jurassic”, try The Dinosaur Park but be careful. You’ll find life-size dinos hiding amongst the woodland here giving plenty of photo opportunities - if you’re brave enough to go near them that is! A range of rides and activities make up the rest of the park with a maze, giant jigsaws, footgolf and racing cars to name but a few.

One of Pembrokeshire’s newest attractions recently opened up along this road too, Great Wedlock Farm and Deer Park. A whopping 175 acres of grounds here is home to some 200 deer who roam free amongst their habitat. You can stroll through the park enjoying beautiful views across the valley as your backdrop or book onto a safari and enjoy a ride along in a 4x4 all-terrain buggy. After your exploration, cosy up for a cuppa at Bambi’s Coffee Shop, have fun at the playground or head to the cinema barn to catch a movie.

Caldey Island

Further afield, you are only minutes from Tenby’s golden sands where you’ll have four beaches to choose from and a plethora of activities including Caldey Island day trips. Grab a bite to eat at Tap & Tan, pick up freshly made bread at Loafley or try fish and chips from Feccis - a must! Spend a morning at the Tudor Merchant’s House, try coasteering or visit during the warmer months to attend Long Course Weekend, a Summer Spectacular and Ironman Wales

Along the coastline is Saundersfoot, a haven for watersports and shopping with a lengthy beach ideal for paddleboarding and a seafront bustling with seaside stores. Dine out at The Stone Crab or The Boathouse for a scrumptious meal, head to HARBWR for a locally made pint or pick up Pembrokeshire-made Welsh cakes from MamGu’s.

With so many fantastic ways to spend your days at your fingertips, it is no wonder that Ivy Tower Village has been welcoming hundreds of happy guests for years now. But how do you know which of the properties at this holiday complex is the right one for you? That’s where we come in.

The simplest way to start narrowing down your options is by taking a look at how many people each cottage accommodates. Crofters Cottage is the smallest property we have available here in terms of occupancy, welcoming five people and one pet. This stylish home-from-home boasts a location looking out across the village meadow; the best views can be enjoyed from the Victorian-style conservatory where you’ll find your dining room. Three bedrooms make up Crofters Cottage; a double, a twin and a single all upstairs. Downstairs is an open-plan living space with an electric fire and wooden floors, creating a lovely cosy atmosphere. WiFi is available in this property.

The Woolpack kitchen

If you’re in need of a property for 6, we currently have four available for you to choose from. The Woolpack and Weavers Cottage lie firmly in the heart of the houses at Ivy Tower Village whilst Dairy Cottage and Woodland Cottage both stand overlooking the meadow. All four share communal WiFi.

The Woolpack, set in the middle of a row, boasts a contemporary interior throughout. Clean neutrals flow through all rooms with lightly-coloured solid wood flooring downstairs and painted white beams above. A plush suite awaits in the lounge for relaxing evenings whilst a family dining table can be found in the conservatory dining room that looks out across the central village green. Follow the staircase up to the three bedrooms; one double, one twin and a children’s bunk room. This property welcomes up to two pets.

Next door to The Woolpack lies Weavers Cottage providing a perfect side-by-side pair for two families travelling together. Step into this pale-pink holiday home to discover an inviting open-plan living space with an archway from the kitchen into the lounge with two matching sofas and an electric wood burner-style fire. The upstairs layout mimics that of its neighbour, with a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a children’s bunk room. Weavers Cottage is also dog friendly, accepting two pets per booking.

Ploughmans cottage conservatory

Dairy Cottage can be found in the middle of an adjacent terrace, easily recognised by the exterior where exposed stonework fronts the lower half of the property and the upper half is painted pale blue. Accepting only one pet, the first floor follows suit of the two previously mentioned with a double, a twin and a children’s bunk making up the three bedrooms. The ground floor is almost entirely open-plan with a warmly decorated living room furnished with a comfortable leather suite. The dining room conservatory is where you can enjoy family meals whilst enjoying views across the communal meadow. A patio door leads straight out to the village’s open spaces giving easy access to the play area and picnic areas.

Further along this same row of houses, occupying an end-of-terrace position is Woodland Cottage next to the aforementioned Crofters Cottage. A pet-free property, this is a real sun-trap making dining in the conservatory a particular treat during summer months. Fresh and vibrant colours decorate each room; the lounge is home to two vivid blue leather sofas and the double bedroom also uses this bright blue as an accent colour. The twin room balances a refreshing yellow and blue decor whilst the children’s bunk room is painted a soothing lilac hue. Access to the green spaces outdoors couldn’t be easier with a patio door from the open-plan downstairs.

Ivy Tower Village outdoor space

Last in our collection of six available-to-rent holiday homes here at Ivy Tower Village is Ivy Tower House. The largest of the group, Ivy Tower House welcomes a total of twelve guests plus two pets, making it the top choice for larger parties looking to share one roof. You’ll find this property standing prominently in the centre of the village by the petite village green, just a short walk from the shared facilities like the swimming pool, children’s playground and meadow.

Several modern leather sofas and armchairs face the electric-fire focal point in the lounge, where the beams above are painted a fresh white, whilst the well-equipped kitchen spills out into the room with a handy worktop space. Opposite the kitchen archway is an opening leading into the conservatory dining room, a charming space for family feasts in all seasons.

Ivy Tower House

One double bedroom can be found downstairs with its own ensuite shower room and the remaining five bedrooms can be located upstairs. On the first floor is a double bedroom and a children’s bunk, plus two rooms where you can choose whether they are set up as twins or super-king beds. The last bedroom is also a bunk room, with a double bed underneath and a single bed above. Bathroom facilities can be found on both floors here with a bath and showers for your use. Ivy Tower House has its own WiFi.

Crofters Cottage

The smallest available in this complex welcomes one pet and promises private WiFi for those who make this their choice.
