Enjoy culture, activities and food with a Pembrokeshire mini break

St Davids Cathedral

With this Pembrokeshire Short Breaks Guide, we bring you our top recommendations on how to spend a long weekend or midweek break in St Davids.

St Davids, the UK's smallest city, is one of the most popular locations for those looking for Wales short breaks despite its tiny size. There truly is something for everyone here making it a destination to be considered when searching for your next British staycation.

Immerse yourself in culture with visits to significant historical sites, challenge your friends to an exhilarating activity weekend of watersports or enjoy slow-paced wildlife wanders around the headland and Ramsey Island. Children will delight in trips to The Bug Farm and Whitesands Beach while others might prefer browsing the shops and galleries.

Day 1

Start with brunch at Pilgrims Cafe in Oriel Y Parc, where you can pick up tourist info and gifts as well as browse the current exhibition in the gallery.

Head to Whitesands Beach for surfing, swimming and sandcastle building. Pop into the cafe for snacks and cold drinks.

Spend a leisurely afternoon browsing New Street Gallery or find your next read at St Davids Bookshop. Pick up handmade chocolates at Capel Chocolates and quirky souvenirs from Window on Wales

Have supper and drinks at The Bishops on Cross Square.

Enjoy Sunday Lunch at St Davids Kitchen where all the produce is sourced within 30 miles.

Take a wildlife cruise around Ramsey Island from St Justinians or choose to land on the island to tour it on foot.

Stay in St Davids

West Wales short breaks are the best way to travel as you can jam-pack an awful lot into just a few days and if that's the style of getaway you're looking for, St Davids has plenty to see and do. If you're looking for serenity and rest however, this location has that too; just head to the coast or spend a moment taking in the intricate detail of the Cathedral ceiling.
