February Half Term
The very first school holidays of the year and by the time you reach the middle of February, it’s safe to say you’re likely to be in need of a break! Dark winter days are almost behind you so it’s time to blow off the cobwebs and go running towards the sea!
Temperatures are refreshing and as long as you’re happy to be wearing a jumper on your travels, you’re in for a great stay. Attractions like Folly Farm and Heatherton are open and waiting for you to visit making February Half Term a top choice for a family getaway. Certain activities aren’t yet up and running, such as boat trips, but those that are may still be operating at last year’s prices before they increase ready for Easter - a handy tip if you’re looking to stretch the pennies a little further.
Easter Holidays
Springtime in Pembrokeshire is utterly magical and it’s no wonder that people who stay at this time of year return annually. The landscape becomes awash with colour and the sound of wildlife flutters through the air.
The weather is changeable depending on when the Easter weekend falls but that needn’t dampen your plans; this is the time of year to dip your toes in the sea and get wet! Surf lessons and kayak hire is all the rage at the beaches whilst the castles are known to host family fun-days and battle re-enactments.
As for where to eat, tour the streets in search of quaint delicatessens and hidden farm shops in the countryside for this is the perfect holiday season for picnics with spectacular views.
Early May Bank Holiday
Bank Holiday weekends are designed for a little jaunt away to the seaside right? Particularly this one. Think hot sunny days by the beach followed by leisurely garden barbecues - and repeat!
You’ll find a plethora of special events taking place across the county such as classic car shows, tractor runs and food festivals so it’s best to check the events calendar before committing to any plans. With only three or four days, you can explore a surprising distance in this small but mighty county making it an ideal opportunity to tick off some of those items on the holiday bucket list.
Spring May Bank Holiday & Whitsun Break
This is the summer holiday for those who can’t make it to Pembrokeshire during July and August. The weather is usually just as good as during the summer holidays with warm and dry sunny days making it a top choice for those looking for alternative dates. Plus, there’s a Spring Bank Holiday to add to the appeal!
Head to the beaches for family games on the sand followed by refreshing cold drinks at the seaside pub or cook up a feast on the barbecue before heading home for showers and naps.
2023 Summer Holidays
Think sun, sea and sand. Plus so much more! Summer holidays in Pembrokeshire are a firm favourite across the board and it’s clear to see why. This is when the landscape truly comes alive with activity bustling in almost every corner of the county, except for those hidden beaches and secret spots of course.
A Pembrokeshire summer is all about sandy shorelines, family days out and unforgettable adventures. Wherever you turn, you’re in for a fantastic time and there’s something to suit everyone. History buffs can tour the castles, water babies will have a whale of a time in the sea and dogs will go wild for a day at the coast!
2023 August Bank Holiday
August Bank Holiday takes place at the very tail end of the summer holidays, it’s the last hurrah for a summertime escape to the seaside and is the perfect chance for a short break just for the weekend.
Events season kicks up a gear with festivals and carnivals across the county before the schools return to their normal routine and if the weather is beautifully warm with clear blue skies, you can guarantee there’s nowhere better in the world to be. Plan an action-packed long weekend or make the most of your last opportunity of a relaxing week by the sea in the sunniest season of the year.
October Half Term
In complete contrast to the summertime holidays which precede this holiday season, October Half Term offers cooler days with arguably more unpredictable weather. But does that make a Pembrokeshire holiday at this time of year any less magical? Certainly not.
Expect ghostly goings-on across the region with Halloween-themed events popping up in castles, parks and more. You can often usually attend an early Bonfire Night celebration depending on when the dates fall too.
It’s often one of the quieter school holidays of the year too, perfect if you’re not too keen on crowded areas.
2023 Christmas Holidays
Whisk the family away to the coast for a memorably festive season and enjoy bracing cold days walking along the shores. For many, the only way to walk along the sand is with a bobble hat and scarf to keep in the warmth.
You might not find hot temperatures in Pembrokeshire during the Christmas holidays but that has no bearing on the coastline, which remains just as spectacular. Picture the quaint streets decked in pretty fairy lights, cosy pubs illuminated with roaring fires and shop windows decorated with traditional ornaments.
New Years Holidays
Where better to celebrate the end of an era and the beginning of a new year than in Pembrokeshire? Raise a toast to the days gone by as you make brand new memories in one of the most beautiful areas of the world when you opt to stay in Pembrokeshire.
Countdown to midnight at your favourite seaside spot, no matter the weather, or curl up in your holiday cottage with all your most-loved people surrounding you. Of course, various venues will be hosting celebratory parties if you want to dance the night away into the early hours of 2024 too.
