Pembrokeshire Family Holidays
Enjoy a family get together in the stunning Pembrokeshire scenery with a cottage holiday
If you’re looking for your next family holiday in Wales, a break in Pembrokeshire is a must. Whether you’re planning your first-ever family holiday, bringing along small children or teenagers, accompanying the grandparents and extended family or you’re on the search for somewhere dog-friendly; a family cottage holiday in Pembrokeshire is sure to be just the thing.
With a vast number of beaches throughout the county, it’s no wonder that a beach holiday is often the first thing which comes to mind when you think of holidaying in Pembrokeshire. And fair enough, for a no-fuss simple getaway, a beach break is ideal. Each day you can just pack up your picnic, your bucket and spade, and some sunscreen, and you’re all sorted for a day at the beach.
If you have little ones which are somewhat more adventurous, bring along a body board and a wetsuit and you’ve got a day of laidback watersports ahead of you. If watersports is a little too adventurous but you’re children are a little too active to spend all day happily building sandcastles, why not take them rock pooling instead? Discover the wonders of sea life and unknown creatures in the small pools of water across many of Pembrokeshire’s beaches.
Alternatively, you can dive into Pembrokeshire’s rich history with a visit to one of the local castles. Both Pembroke and Carew Castles are great attractions with nearby millpond walks, places to eat and even activity days for the little ones throughout the school holidays.
For child friendly holiday, we even have a selection of cottages with play areas on site such as those at Orlandon Farm Cottages. These are a great option if you want to let the children play and burn off some of that excess energy before bed.
If you’re children are somewhat older and building sandcastles on the beach all week simply isn’t going to cut it anymore, there are plenty of other activities to keep you entertained during your stay. Being a little older, you can get away with watersports of a more adventurous nature. Try your hand at the classic favourites such as surfing or kayaking; challenge your balance with one of the newer watersports, paddle boarding; or go full exhilaration with kitesurfing.
If you have always been fascinated with the sky, why not contact our Concierge team and plan a plane journey across Pembrokeshire with one of our pleasure flights or a flying lesson? Take in unforgettable views over the Welsh hillside and the incredible 186 miles of Coastal Path – you might even be able to fly over your favourite spot or your holiday cottage!
For a fun-filled day of activities, spend the day at dog friendly Heatherton Adventure Park in St Florence near Tenby. Here you can take part in baseball, go karting, mini golf, archery, bumper boats, clay pigeon shooting and more. At Heatherton, you can also book paintballing, TreeTops high ropes courses and even escape rooms.
There are some occasions which call for a full family get together. Perhaps someone in the party is celebrating a big birthday, or a special anniversary? Maybe you’re organising a wedding? Not a problem.
Here at Coastal Cottages we have a number of large properties and cluster properties which are perfect for a group holiday. Our large properties sleep up to 28 all under one roof, whilst our cluster properties are collections of properties which are all set within one location, meaning you can gather your group easily whilst maintaining your own sense of space with your own cottage. For a one-of-a-kind memorable stay, book one of our more unique properties such as Roch Castle, Penrhiw Priory or Waterwynch House.
To help you celebrate, you might want to take advantage of our Private Dining Experiences where our Concierge team can arrange a private chef for you for the evening – or breakfast or lunch for that matter! Each Private Dining Experience is completely bespoke, with the menu and style tailored to suit you and your requirements. Book a three course meal, a seven course taster menu, a simple hot/cold buffet or a mouth-watering feast fit for a king. We can even add on party decorations, champagne and celebration cakes.
Last but not least, don’t feel like you have to leave your pooch behind. We have a wide selection of dog friendly holiday properties across Pembrokeshire. Some even have hot tubs, some have enclosed gardens, and some have sea views. Whatever you need from your family holiday in Wales, we have you covered.
