Alma Cottage is a charming traditional stone mid-terrace cottage set on a quiet no-through lane in the heart of the seaside village of Upper Solva with lovely views from the bedroom over the headland and out to the sea of St Brides Bay. Sympathetically renovated, this quaint cottage has beams, low doorways, super sash windows, quarry and wooden floors throughout. Comfortably furnished in a mix of modern and vintage pieces, the hallway leads through to the open plan living space with kitchen galley, comfortable seating and a dining table, it makes a cosy space with its underfloor heating, this opens to a clever scullery area with dishwasher, fridge, freezer and Belfast sink. Steep stairs lead from the living space to the gorgeous double bedroom above a lovely light space with super sea views over the trees and headland. Double wooden doors open to a hidden single bedroom and a shower room beyond, giving flexibility or space for a child.
Once you arrive, you can relax and forget your car with everything you need within walking distance. There is a well-stocked village shop in Upper Solva and a village pub with further shops, pubs, restaurants and galleries clustered round the picturesque harbour in Lower Solva, a short downhill walk away.
With the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path on your doorstep, it is ideal for keen walkers looking to explore this stunning, rugged coastline round St Brides Bay with breathtaking views of the Islands of Ramsey, Skokholm and Grassholm. Head west to the tiny City of St Davids with its majestic Cathedral and Bishops Palace, there are a range of shops, pubs and cafes to discover, while the award-winning beach of Whitesands is popular with families and surfers alike. A boat trip from St Justinian’s is a must of any holiday, heading round the island of Ramsey or land on it to explore its unique flora and fauna, a special time of year is September with the seal pups.

Alma Cottage is accessed down a single tarmac lane off the main road through Solva. The property is a two storey, mid-terraced cottage with featured beams and low ceilings. It is found on your right with a slate house name clearly marked no more than 10 metres from the main road. An inside porch light is available and there is limited additional lighting on the adjacent lane and from the main road. It is possible to park directly outside the property to unload your vehicle, however the lane is narrow so alternatively unload at the top of the lane. There are two public parking areas without restrictions between 30 to 50 metres away off the main road. The ground floor of Alma cottage is all on one level with a small raised lip (2 inches) when entering the property's front door which drops back down into the hall. The ground floor consists of a small entrance hall which leads into an open plan area consisting of lounge/diner, galley kitchen. The lounge/diner consists of a sofa and two padded armchairs and a bench style dining table set. The rear utility/scullery is accessed via a small raised lip (2 inches) and consists of a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, sink and microwave/oven. The ground floor also provides underfloor heating via French quarry tiles, which do sometimes provide small undulations when walked on. The first floor is accessed via an un-carpeted, wooden spiral staircase with steps narrowing through a 90° turn. The staircase is supported with a wooden hand rail. The first floor consists of a large double bedroom which leads via double doors into a single bedroom leading onto a small shower room with WC & sink. Smart TV with remote control and access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, ITV X etc. Free Wi-Fi available. Dogs welcome (max 2) Public buses available to both Haverfordwest and St Davids. Shuttle buses also run along the coastal routes which is operated as a ‘hail and ride’ service.
alma Cottage is charming, Solva a great base from which we had some lovey days out including Tenby and Cardigan, St Davids is worth a visit. Newgale beach was fab for long walks. Cottage is lovely. We know Pembrokeshire well but have not stayed in Solva before - it's such a great base for exploring this beautiful area. The walk down the track to the harbour was a great find (right out of cottage, left at the end and over the stone stile). Many thanks.
