Incredibly one-of-a-kind holiday homes

Unique Stays in Pembrokeshire Holiday Cottages

What makes a holiday unforgettable is having those moments, those details, that you can’t wait to relive when you tell all your friends and family about them afterwards. When you book one-of-a-kind accommodation, you’ll have those details to get excited about before you even arrive.

Doves Cottage, Abercastle

Nestled in an unbeatable position on the cliff banks overlooking Abercastle beach, Doves Cottage is easily one of the most unusual holiday properties you’ll find in the UK. If you’ve ever visited this petite shingle inlet, you’ll be familiar with this cottage as it’s part and parcel of the beach scene here.

Accommodating just two, it’s hard to believe that Doves Cottage was once a tap house for travelling sailors. The atmosphere here now is peaceful and calming, with hypnotic wave sounds creating the most idyllic backdrop for every moment.

Every window provides stunning views over the seashore, with a waterside terrace offering 180-degree views from the village out to the ocean. Access to the Coast Path is right outside the gate making this a must for walkers and wildlife watchers. There are even steps down to the sea, slip on your swimming costume and carefully ease yourself into the water for a refreshing morning dip.

Melin Abereiddy, Abereiddy

Built into the rocks around the corner from Abereiddy’s famous Blue Lagoon is Melin Abereiddy. Once an 18th Century working watermill, this one-of-a-kind dwelling has since been lovingly renovated into a fantastic award-winning holiday home.

With a traditional Welsh feel throughout, Melin Abereiddy is a split-level accommodation with beautiful retained features. Picture slate flagged floors, wooden boards and exposed ceiling beams. Many rooms offer superb sea views as do the paved terraces which look out onto the waves crashing below.

An Inglenook in the lounge is home to a woodburner plus you’ll find another two upstairs; one in a double bedroom and another in the snug with galleried crog loft bedroom. Visit the pristine waters of the Blue Lagoon nearby, sightsee at St Davids and wander the Coast Path, accessible nearby.

Penrhyn, Strumble Head

Hidden away in National Trust land on the hillsides of the Strumble Head peninsula lies Penrhyn, a quaint Welsh cottage bursting with traditional character. The feature which sets this property aside from all others is that you will find no electricity here.

Remove yourself from the daily distractions of social media and constant news updates with a holiday free from technology. A digital detox is best enjoyed at Penrhyn as the electricity-free setting encourages you to really take note of the spectacular seaside surroundings here. Rooms to the rear all offer windows looking out to the coast as does the patio and lawn. The garden gate even grants access directly to the coastal path - perfect for walkers.

With only oil lamps and candles for light, an open fire and wood-burning stove for heat in the open-plan living space; you’re in for a magical getaway at Penrhyn.

The Rocket Carthouse, Angle

On the outskirts of Angle stands The Rocket Carthouse, a distinct looking holiday home with a fascinating past life. Originally built towards the end of the 19th Century, this property is now a characterful cottage suitable for up to 6, but was once the Coastguard watchtower for the area.

In the days gone by, this important base was home to some twenty rescuers and a wealth of rockets. Nowadays, you’ll find an inviting open-plan living space downstairs with bespoke flooring, comfortable furniture and a terrific window seat offering views out towards the waterway.

Open-tread stairs lead to the first floor whilst fixed step ladders will take you higher to the further two cabin-like bedrooms in the old watchtower. Continue to the top where you’ll find an elevated roof terrace, the old lookout point, still bordered by a 4ft parapet. Enjoy panoramic views across Angle and out towards Freshwater West beach, just over half a mile away.
