About Glebe House

Nestled down a sweeping gravelled driveway lined with pretty flowers, colourful shrubbery and blossom trees, Glebe House is ideal for larger parties accommodating up to 14 people in 7 bedrooms. Plus, this property is dog friendly welcoming up to two pets.

Now a Grade II listed building, this holiday home has been beautifully renovated into a stylish and comfortable property whilst retaining many superb traditional features. Throughout Glebe House, you will find quality wooden details including A-frame beams and wooden floors as well as feature fireplaces, and high ceilings.

There are two particularly special features here on the ground floor; the first is a Medieval vaulted ceiling in the snug which is the main reason for the Grade II status and the other is the intriguing glass-covered well within the flooring of the conservatory.

The spacious country kitchen offers a large dining table ideal for homecooked banquets and delicious Sunday lunches – the large Aga and double electric ovens mean there’s plenty of space for cooking multiple dishes at a time. Send the kids to the games room or the second sitting room whilst the cooks take control of the kitchen or open up the French doors onto the garden to let the fresh coastal air waft through the house as you enjoy a late morning brunch altogether.

On the first floor, there lie four bedrooms; a family room with a double and single bed, two double rooms and a twin. One spiral staircase provides access to the Strumble Head bedroom, a twin nestled in the eaves, whilst the other takes you from the kitchen to a double room and bunk room which share a large bathroom complete with Jack and Jill doors. Each of these rooms guarantees a restful space and boasts lovely views across the surrounding countryside and over the nearby St Madoc's Church.

Glebe House is positioned within 1.5 acres of mature grounds meaning plenty of space for the children and dogs to run and frolic around during your stay. Enjoy your morning cuppa as you take a stroll through the paddock or settle down on the large lawns for a leisurely picnic on a summer’s day.

History of Glebe House

Before its current use as a holiday home, Glebe House was once the rectory for the nearby St Madoc's Church and dates back to 1352. Local history suggests that it was once home to a local rector named Moses Grant between 1767 and 1810, whose grandson later became Sir Benjamin Hall.

History buffs with a passion for British architecture will likely have realised the historical significance of this character without any explanation as you could say Sir Benjamin became rather an important figure in later years. During his career, Sir Benjamin was involved in the rebuilding of parliament and is supposedly the namesake of London’s Big Ben.

Book with Nolton Coach House

Sharing this wonderful location is Nolton Coach House, a cosy one-bedroom barn conversion accommodating 2 people and 1 dog. Book separately and enjoy a rejuvenating getaway or book the two together to sleep up to 16 people in total – ideal if you’re a couple holidaying with a larger group who still want a moment of peace and privacy.

In keeping with the style of Glebe House, Nolton Coach House offers the same countryside setting with a cottage-style kitchen and a spacious living space under a vaulted ceiling. The double bedroom lies upstairs in the eaves of a galleried crog-loft. Between this snug sleeping space and the wood-burning stove downstairs, it makes a fantastic setting for a romantic break.

The Location

Your daily routine during your stay at Glebe House will likely involve a leisurely stroll to the nearby Nolton Haven Beach for fun-filled family days out. Follow the road through the village to reach the quaint golden sands which are flanked by high cliffsides, creating a sheltered sun trap on glorious sunny days.

Enjoy peaceful days sunbathing with a good book, dipping your toes in the water for a refreshing paddle before tucking into a delicious homemade picnic or a tasty takeout burger from The Haven Brasserie on the seafront. The shielded beach and the elevated dunes towards the cliffs are ideal spots for firing up a mobile barbecue and snacking on charcoal-braised sausages.

Spend hours paddling in the clear waters here or launch your kayak to take a coastal exploration of the spectacular coastline, you can even hire surfboards from the little hut a few steps up the hillside towards Newgale. You can of course, also start your trek of the coastal path from here and ramble along St Brides Bay, using the convenient Puffin Shuttle bus to catch a lift back.

Nolton lies on the western stretch of Pembrokeshire and is positioned between two fantastic beachside villages; Newgale and Broad Haven. Both offer superb conditions for watersports including surfing and kayaking and because they are each wide west-facing shores, they are often top choices for power-kiting such as kite-surfing and kite-boarding.

The popular Pembrokeshire destinations of Solva and St Davids are also only a short drive away. Visit Solva for harbourside views, art galleries and coastal pubs or head to St Davids for Welsh culture and sightsee St Davids Cathedral, the Bishop’s Palace and St Non’s Chapel (birthplace of Saint David). Browse gift shops, pick up fresh local produce and take a boat trip out to the RSPB island of Ramsey.

On the topic of islands, you might want to venture to Martin’s Haven Beach on the Marloes peninsula to board a boat trip to the famous island of puffins, Skomer. Land on the isle and try your hand at photographing these comical birds before heading back to the mainland for a quick visit to Marloes Sands, the beach used as a filming location for Snow White and the Huntsman [2012] and Robin Hood [2010].
