Pumpkin Picking in Pembrokeshire

Well, where to start? Pembrokeshire has some of the best pick your own pumpkin patches around meaning it will only be a short drive to your nearest one. Windsor Farm Pumpkin Patch in Lamphey near Pembroke is now in its third year of running and has fast become one of the most popular in the region. This patch is undercover with a wealth of pumpkins on offer plus there is no booking required and entry is free.

One of our favourites is Greenacre Market Garden in Llanteg near Amroth. You must book a slot for this pumpkin patch so make sure to plan in advance, but you won’t be disappointed. Have plenty of fun here picking the best-looking pumpkins or purchase some marshmallows to roast over the fire pits. Think spooky trails, plenty of refreshments and even a fun maze to explore.

Pembrokeshire Pumpkins near Newport will be open daily throughout October Half Term and is perfectly placed for anyone in north Pembrokeshire. Tickets are around £6 per family and grant you entry to the farm where you can visit their Halloween grotto and frolic in the new woodland play area before heading to the fields to pick your pumpkins.

Alternatively, you might wish to visit one of the newer patches in the area at Good Hook Pumpkin Patch on the outskirts of Haverfordwest or venture to Heatherton in St Florence near Tenby to visit their new Pumpkin Patch before taking part in a fun-filled day of activities.

Fishguard Cawl Crawl

Foodies will not want to miss this one! The Fishguard and District Round Table are hosting their 13th Annual Cawl Crawl Challenge this October Half Term on Saturday 23rd October 2021 and it promises to be a day filled with great foodie offerings no doubt. Some 14 establishments are taking part this year including the likes of the Rose and Crown in Goodwick, JT’s @ Abergwaun and Cresswells Café in Fishguard.

This event kicks off at 11am with entry fees of £4 per adult and £2 per child. Your involvement? You “crawl” from one eatery to the other sampling their homemade cawls and voting for whichever you think should win the title of “Best Cawl”. The Winner's Presentation Evening then takes place at 7pm that evening at the Fishguard Rugby Club.

Pembroke Castle’s Halloween Half Term

Visit Pembroke Castle any day throughout the October Half Term Holidays and you can take advantage of their Halloween themed events alongside their traditional visitor activities. Any child in spooky costumes will receive free entry to the castle which will, of course, be adorned in seasonal decorations.

Skeletons will line the castle grounds in the centre of Pembroke for the week so make sure to take a selfie or two on their “Skelfie Trail” and try to find all of the jack-o-lanterns hidden throughout during your visit.

Board the Ghost Train at Gwili Steam Railway

No Halloween in Pembrokeshire is complete without ghostly goings-on and where better to get involved than on a ghost train? Head to Carmarthen on the 30th and 31st of October for a spooky ride aboard the stylish vintage steam train where you can enjoy treats and wonderful views.

Trains depart at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Fancy dress encouraged - the lucky winner will even win a prize!
