About Gwaun

Gwaun is a spacious detached stone cottage just for 2, with its own enclosed front terrace, ideal for dining alfresco. Part of Penwern Fach Cottages, it has been sympathetically extended with traditional features, such as the A frame beams and exposed stonework retained to lend character. The open plan tiled living space has a wood burning stove for those chillier evenings and a well-equipped cottage style fitted kitchen. The double bedroom with wooden flooring and comfortable bed makes a welcome place to relax with its bathroom and low level access shower and separate bath.

The popular village of Cenarth is just 1 mile downhill with its range of pubs, cafes and a village shop, set on the river Teifi, the main attraction is its roaring falls, a series of small waterfalls and pools, a sight to behold when the river is in full flow and famous for its salmon leaps. Visit The National Coracle Museum overlooking the river and learn about the making and use of this famous historical and unique vessel. Keen walkers will enjoy exploring the many footpaths, bridle paths and cycle tracks which abound in this area. While bird and wildlife lovers will be amazed with regular sightings of kites, buzzards, badgers, foxes and more.

Guests can take advantage of preferential rates at the Cenarth Falls Resort – Bar Lolfa & Spa nearby which offers the use of its indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, ideal if the weather is inclement or you are looking for that additional treat.

Perfectly positioned on the border of the 3 counties of Pembrokeshire, Cardiganshire and Carmarthenshire, you are only 6 miles from the stunning coastline and glorious beaches of Aberporth, with Tresaith, Mwnt and Llangrannog not much further on. The charming market town of Newcastle Emlyn set on the river Teifi is only 3 miles away, or Cardigan with its restored medieval castle, restaurants, wealth of independent traders and farmer’s market is only 7 miles away. Cardigan Bay, designated a Heritage coast because of its rare bird and marine life, is home to bottlenose dolphins, porpoises and grey seals, with occasional sightings of basking sharks, orca and minke whales is just waiting to be explored. A boat trip to see these wonderful animals is a must of any stay, or why not head to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path which is sure to enchant, explore the stunning beaches and coves of Poppit Sands, Ceibwr Bay and Newport Sands.

After a busy day exploring the many attractions of the surrounding area, relax on your patio or around a fire pit and simply gaze at the stars overhead, the dark skies are superb here there is so little light pollution – just enchanting.
