About Long Barn

Long Barn is simply a stunning stone barn conversion set in rolling countryside, one of several other converted farm buildings nestling down an unmade lane adjacent to the original Trehale Manor House, just 5 minutes from the village of Mathry and 10 minutes from the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline.

Sympathetically renovated, retaining many original features with timber beams and exposed stone work, it has been furnished to a high standard in a stylish eclectic mix of modern and antique, combined with unique up-cycled and bespoke reclaimed timber pieces. A pathway through the landscaped garden leads via 2 steps into the useful boot/garden room and then through into the large open plan kitchen/dining room with slate floor, vaulted ceiling and A frame beams. The traditional farmhouse style kitchen is well-equipped with original butchers block making a central feature, enjoy meals around the dining table or cosy around the wonderful Esse wood burning stove with its hot plate for further cooking facilities. The sitting room lies off this with its own wood burning stove that keeps evening chills away. A fixed wood step ladder leads to a galleried crog loft nestling in the eaves above. One step leads into the hallway with another step to the bathroom and 3 bedrooms, all welcome retreats; one opens to the garden, while the master with its luxurious super king size bed has a super ensuite bathroom complete with roll top bath.

The South facing sun room with its bifold doors really opens up to the garden and gives wonderful space to relax, soak up the far reaching rural views or enjoy the rustic timber shelter with its seats facing West where you can make the most of the colourful sunsets. Outdoors, the garden extends to a quarter of an acre providing a variety of spots to sit, with an enclosed lawn as well as a landscaped and gravelled entertainment area where you can dine alfresco or simply enjoy a chilled glass of wine on a summer's evening.

With no light pollution the dark skies are a sight to behold from this cottage, the area abounds with footpaths and keen walkers, and cyclists are sure to love exploring. An hours walk will take you to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, the best way to really appreciate this stunning coastline, with its many rugged cliffs and hidden coves including Abermawr and Abercastle, still frequented by local fishermen today. The closest village is Mathry with its popular village pub and tea rooms just 5 minutes by car, or head to Trefin with its village pub set above Aberferlin, while Porthgain is a little further on, try the highly recommended The Sloop Inn or The Shed Bistro and visit the wonderful galleries. The picturesque harbour town of Fishguard has a range of facilities while the tiny City of St. Davids is well worth a visit with a range of shops, pubs, restaurants and galleries and of course majestic Cathedral and Bishops Palace. While surfers both professional and beginners should head to Whitesands Beach.

Long Barn is a unique and beautiful holiday home perfect for relaxing and an ideal base to explore this beautiful part of the Pembrokeshire coastline.

Please note there are changes of level within the cottage.

The property is situated circa 2 miles from a B-road. The final approach to the property is via a farm track, which whilst fairly rough it is used by cars, delivery vehicles and farm machinery on a continuous basis. There are two car parking spaces right outside of the front of property. Please note that the front and back entrances are approached via gravelled areas. Both access points have a one step entrance threshold. Guests enter the front of the premises via a double door. There is then one step up to the hallway and flat access to the master bedroom, ensuite bathroom and conservatory. Guests can access the rear of the property via a double door and enjoy flat access in to the kitchen and lounge. There is one step to access either the family bathroom or the double and or twin bedroom. Access to the galleried area is via a wooden loft ladder and should not be used by children. Access to the main paved external seating area is through a single patio door with a low-level threshold strip. There is then one step down from the patio to a flat grassed area. The main garden, which extends to 0.2 of an acre, is accessed then over a gravelled driveway and is relatively flat. An additional small garden and timber shelter can be accessed via the conservatory through bi-fold doors and two small steps. The timber shelter has two steps to enter it. The ensuite bathroom has a roll top bath with no handrails, a toilet and a basin and is accessed via double glazed doors from the master bedroom. The family bathroom has a large walk in shower which has a circa 15 cm step to access it. In addition, there is a slipper bath with no handrail. The kitchen has a range of standard base units, a double Belfast sink and a standard height freestanding cooker/oven. The fridge/freezer is an under counter model. Mains lighting is provided throughout and generally all rooms enjoy good natural light. The television is relatively large and operated via remote control. Public transport is limited in the area so own transport is highly recommended.
