About The Swan Holiday Cottage
Upon arrival in Little Haven, take the sloping pathway up towards The Point viewpoint and follow the shared steps through The Swan Inn’s outdoor terrace to reach the front door of The Swan holiday cottage. Before you’ve even set foot through the door, you’ll be enveloped by the stunning coastal location here with a fresh sea breeze and the hypnotic sounds of the continual tide.
Set in a Grade II listed building with the highly recommended The Swan Inn below, The Swan boasts an incredible history of over 200 years. Beautifully renovated, the owners here have retained many of the original features whilst creating a welcoming home from home for all who stay here.
Stylishly furnished throughout, you’ll find comfortable sofas in the lounge centred around a roaring wood-burning stove and perfectly positioned to enjoy spectacular views over the sea below through the large bay window here. With an open plan living space, the lounge flows straight into the kitchen/diner where you’ll find a modern fitted kitchen and a lovely large farmhouse dining table creating a perfect spacious room for family feasts and cosy nights in. The vaulted ceiling with exposed A-frame beams hints at times gone by.
The Swan is made up of two double bedrooms, with the master bedroom enjoying those same wonderful sea views visible from the living space. Wake up to the enviable views over the shore below and we can guarantee you won’t want to leave.
The Location
Standing so close to the water’s edge, it goes without saying that The Swan’s location is something special. The compact size of Little Haven’s seafront means that not many properties can boast views like the one enjoyed here.
Stroll down to the shoreline for days digging holes in the sand, flying kites or playing beach rounders as you top up your tan (safely of course). At low tide, follow the cliffs north and you can walk all the way along to Broad Haven Beach, passing Settlands Beach as you go. At Broad Haven, you’ll find a wide expanse of golden sands ideal for sandcastle-building, beach rugby and more.
This region of Pembrokeshire is particularly popular for watersports; you may well find kayakers and paddleboards heading off from Little Haven to oar their way around the coastline towards the other nearby beaches. The larger shoreline at Broad Haven is frequently sprinkled with surfers, kite surfers and open water swimmers too – this Blue Flag beach is manned by RNLI lifeguards in the summer making it a great choice for family days out.
From The Swan, follow the paved pathway up the hill to the Point for spectacular panoramic views across Pembrokeshire and out to sea with Grassholm and Ramsey Islands visible in the distance on clear days. Take a seat on one of the benches or climb down the rocks to perch closer to the sea and you’ll no doubt want to spend hours just basking in the glorious location here. You can also take the stone staircase down to the pebbly inlet to the side for perhaps a quieter spot than on the main beach.
Just before you reach The Point, you’ll find a tarmacked walkway leading you onto the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Continue along the headlands past Talbenny to reach St Brides and the Marloes peninsula where the views out to Skomer are truly unforgettable. To catch a boat trip over to Skomer Island, make your way to Martin's Haven Beach but make sure you book in advance as these are particularly popular! Join the Coastal Path in the opposite direction at Broad Haven to ramble out past Druidston to Nolton Haven, Newgale and beyond.
